I love stories that grab your attention with humor within the first few pages. Elle Spencer’s latest novel did just that.

Veronica was a workaholic NYC lawyer who hoped to attain two goals by her 35th birthday: to be made partner in the law firm and find someone to share her life with. Veronica’s assistant, Bea, set her up on a dating service for 30 dates in 30 days. They would meet at the same local bar with a 30 minute get to know you time limit.
The bartenders and a group of regular customers would often offer Veronica advice on her potential love interest. Rachel, whose cousin owned the bar, would help out when she wasn’t busy with her highly lucrative wedding photography business.
While Veronica was searching for a wife, Rachel strictly adhered to her own 3 dates and done philosophy. She was not in the market for any long term commitment and instead tried to help Veronica find her soulmate.

Elle Spencer created a smorgasbord of very interesting, realistic, and relatable characters. I think most readers will relate to one or more of these characters/situations: workaholics, dating nightmares, biological clock ticking away, loss of loved ones, and relationship failures. These circumstances created a storyline that was extremely humorous, especially the bar scenes with Veronica interviewing her dates. The author created some very quirky characters for Veronica’s dates with dialogue to match.

The storyline was also emotional at times when characters experienced heartbreaking loss. But whatever the circumstances, the author successfully engaged the reader from start to finish. Everything about this story was well executed and is highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the way Elle Spencer wrote her characters, they were believable and realistic. It was enjoyable to read the way she included current trends into the story, it felt very current but timeless at the same time. I found myself wanting to stay in the story when I reached the ending because I enjoyed the development of the characters she created.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. Casting Lacey is one of my all time favorite books, in the past when I have read Spencer's newer books I was massively disappointed. As I held them up to the standard of Casting Lacey, with 30 Dates in 30 days, I was not disappointed at all. This was a great book that was sweet, funny and had just enough of an obstacle and connection to keep me reading. Rachel and Veronica are perfect together and you will love their story.

Veronica is a New York lawyer on the precipice of becoming partner at her firm. Her assistant, Bea, sneakily sets her up on a date each night until Veronica finds 'the one.' This is all the result of a drunken night where Veronica uncharacteristically spilled how she wanted to be married by the time she was 35. Well, 35 is just around the corner.

I'm an Elle Spencer fan. I want to say that this was surprisingly good, but I guess I shouldn't really be that surprised. She generally delivers on everything I love about reading romance. Feelings, chemistry, conflict, angst, tears, and happiness. This one particularly had great dialogue.

I loved Veronica and her conflicting characterization. Master of litigation. Clumsy with women. She had a lot of drive to achieve her goals and despite her failures, kept pressing on. She has an idealistic look on love. So many times in this story, she could have let herself become jaded. Her perseverance was sweet. And she was snarky. I have to admit that I developed a nice sized crush on Veronica.

Rachel, a photographer slash assistant bartender, is the classic 'burned by love and never going to give my heart to someone again' character. So clearly, her outlook is challenged. The reason this story worked was because her plight felt genuine and it was not resolved superficially early on. This is a slow burn romance that takes it's time delivering the ultimate payoff.

I think some readers may get annoyed by the hot/cold attitude and push/pull situations that Rachel creates. It was great for me because I love the drama. I like authors who play with my heart.

There were plenty of side characters that were used to further the plot. None of them were robustly developed. On the surface with a small bit of backstory where it made sense to relate to the main characters. That was perfectly fine for me.

There was some character crossover from Spencer's last book, 'Road to Madison.' I thought the first introduction and reason for their inclusion in this book believable and cute. A nice nod to a couple that I enjoyed reading about. Unfortunately, they are also make an appearance a couple of times late in the story that felt overdone, campy, and not plausible at all to me.

Overall, this book had a significant amount of personality. The characters were likable. Fun situations. Great chemistry. A slow burn romance that satisfies int he end.

I recommend this to people who love to read about romance, lawyers, bars, photography, foofy drinks, dating profiles, good dialogue, and push up bras.

This is a fun and engaging romance which hits the mark perfectly Veronica Welch, career and goal oriented, is close to making partner in her law firm by 35 but realizes that she hasn't found a romantic partner. Her efficient assistant takes the initiative to sign her up on an online dating site and proceeds to schedule 30 dates in 30 days. What could possibly go wrong? Or more importantly, can this scheme possibly go right?

There's a wonderful level of humour maintained throughout the book although its not a comedy - instead there are amusing dates and witty banter and dialogue between the engaging main and supporting characters that keeps the tone light and hooks you right in. There's a good balance with the requisite horrible dates who mirror their drink choices perfectly and some rather heartfelt moments between the leads as well as with the supporting characters.

Rachel Monaghan, successful wedding photographer who has a rather cynical view of matrimony and love, is helping her cousin out by tending the family owned bar in the evenings and has a front and centre seat to watch the dates unfold. Obviously, Veronica's match is right in front of her - not across the table, but across the bar. The build of the relationship between the two works particularly well and the chemistry pops. Rachel's reluctance keeps the "will they or won't they" tension going,

This is a fun and lighthearted romance that i enjoyed the heck out of.

I really loved this book by Elle Spencer. The book gave so much with some serious tough times along with some laughs.

Veronica was the hero of this book for me, she was vulnerable, goofy (which I didn't expect at first) and funny which had me rooting for her from the start. Rachel for me was the classic character that you just wanted to shake. She was lucky Veronica was always so forgiving and willing to put herself out there.

This was a fun sweet read which I highly recommend.

I absolutely love Elle Spencer! Two of her other books Casting Lacy and Unforgettable are two of my favorites of all time. Elle did a fantastic job with this book. The plot was interesting and the witty banter between all characters was great. Veronica and Rachel were truly likable mains and the supporting cast of characters (especially those in the bar) really enhanced the novel. This book was a great escape and truly made me smile. Thanks Elle for another wonderful book!!

Oh well, I don't know what I expected but I certainly got more! This book sparkles with good humor, witty banter and beautiful, tasteful flirting! I loved it! Everything in it! Veronica, Rachel, Bea, Charlotte, Harry and the whole gang in the bar. I loved every single character as it's written so skillfully and they all have been given a soul, which I don't find often in books. I heartily recommend this book as it's one of the nicest I've read any time recently.
