Enjoyed the other daughter, I felt at all dragged on a bit in the middle but couldn't wait to get to the ending to find out what happened.
Nine years ago her daughter was taken.. And now she’s back.
Gripping psychological thriller, Stayed up to finish it. Plenty of twists and turns and I didn't see the ending coming at all.
My main problem with the plot was the way with which the mother of the stolen child was dealt with by the courts. That the courts would agree for her to lie about who is to the child and cause potential future psychological damage It just didn't ring true for me and I'm not sure what value the way this was handled added to the book.
I would recommend this book and I would seek out other books by this author
Enjoyable psychological thriller. Some areas of the book were a little far fetched, but overall the story kept you interested. Look forward to reading more from this author.
Oh my word Shalini has done it again! another brilliantly addictive read, full of twists and turns and I was gripped from the very first page, my type of book.
The characters were so well described, each of them interesting and I can thoroughly recommend, well worth five+ stars. Well done Shalini, I look forward to your next masterpiece.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this fantastic book.
Wow what a ride, this story follows a mother who thinks she has found her abducted daughter by pure chance. But... alas things are not always what they seem. I thought i could guess this story line as it seemed like one that had been done before but i can assure you i was wrong. This book was fast paced with some terrific characters. I could not put it down. The ending was phenomenal, beyond my expectations and assumptions. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book!
The Other Daughter by Shalini Boland is a perfect example of a GREAT psychological thriller! With an unusual but exciting ending, it did not disappoint! A gripping plot with characters you won’t forget!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Other Daughter by Shalini Boland is an exciting read. A true psychological thriller with an unusual and surprising twist. Highly recommended.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Gripping read! Literally Couldn't put it down, read it in one afternoon. Was kept guessing all the way through, huge twist that I didn’t see coming
A gripping read although I did see what was coming at the end, Rachel meets a new mother at the school gates and thinks that the new mother's elder daughter is the image of an older version of her daughter who was abducted as a 3 year old. Can she prove it?
I so love this authors books always delivers .Rachel s daughter is taken from a coffe shop . then one day taking her children to school she meets a new mum whos children have started at the school .she has her eldest daughter with her Bella . katie is so convinced Bella is her stolen daughter you thought her last book was twisty you wait till you read this what a story so enjoyed very recommend all authors books
Omg omg omg....
What did I just read?!!
Shalini Boland is one brilliant schemer who can pull the rug from under my feet. I fell with a thud on my arse. But I could feel nothing but the tingles she caused in my entire body with the mind-numbing, soul-tearing, rip-roaring twist. (I wanted to use expletives, but I barely restrained myself!!)
How could anyone think of such a warped plot where my realities tangled into a knot?
9 years ago, a child Holly was abducted and Rachel was devastated. 9 years later, she was living a quiet life in Dorset with her children and partner when she met Kate and her daughter Bella who had just moved into town. Rachel was shocked and devastated. She knew Bella - she was her MISSING CHILD, her OTHER DAUGHTER!!
Having read many novels by this author, I was eager to sunk my teeth into this thriller. I just didn't know I would be knocked out so hard!! Her writing was bloody brilliant, if I may say so. It was smooth as whisky bringing a sense warmth and camaraderie that I didn't expect.
How could I describe the lull she created in my mind with this story? How could I tell you how she caused me to believe every word of her prose? How could I show you how I got swept in the wave of emotions that flowed from every corner? Oh, how could I find the words that would fit aptly for this thriller?
Oh man, the master magician was back with her card tricks. She showed me one set while pulling a royal flush with the other. This was a true psychological thriller. It changed all that I believed with one single line. It was a mind f**k at precisely 3:19 am when I finished this book! I wanted to screech like a banshee but the lateness of the hour prevented that.
A truly fantastic read!! My kinda thriller!!
Thank you for netgalley for providing me this arc!
I really enjoyed this domestic thriller. I sat down and finished it in one sitting. The writing was intriguing, the plot kept me guessing, and the twist was very well done. This is a must read for thriller fans!
I enjoyed this book. Although, this is the first time I’ve read this author, I will look for more from her. Well written, with an interesting storyline and compelling characters.
Shalini has done it again in delivering us a real treat in this gripping and addictive thriller! You could have knocked me down with a feather THAT TWIST at the end I could not fathom coming, very clever and well thought. The plot is highly engaging and addictive, you will thoroughly enjoy until the very last page. I’m a huge long time fan of Shalini’s and I always look forward to her books I’ve read every one and they have never disappointed me!
A big thank you to netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I couldn’t put this book down. I read it in one go as I had to know what was going on. Well written with a twist I didn’t see coming!
A wildly , captivating read. I was into the book from front to end without a day gone. I was holding my breath. I just never saw the ending coming.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Plenty to keep me intrigued.
Good twist at the end though I felt the book finished a little soon afterwards.
Solid 4 stars.
An enjoyable read with an intriguing premise and a twist in the tale that I didn’t see coming. What lengths would you go to if you think you recognise your daughter who was taken as a 2 year old when you meet an 11 year old with an uncanny resemblance?
Nine years ago her daughter was taken.
And now she’s back. Two-and-a-half-year-old Holly is playing happily in a pink plastic playhouse, while her mother Rachel sips coffee and chats with a friend nearby. It should be an ordinary day for all of them. But, in the blink of an eye, it turns into every family’s worst nightmare.
Holly is taken by a stranger and never found.
Nine years later, Rachel is living a quiet life in Dorset. She’s tried to keep things together since the traumatic day when she lost her eldest daughter. She has a new family; a loving partner and her secrets are locked away in her painful past.
Until one afternoon when Rachel meets a new school parent Kate and her teenage daughter Bella. Rachel’s world is instantly turned upside down – she’s seen Bella before. She’d recognise that face anywhere – it’s her missing child.
And she will stop at nothing to get her back…
I loved this book. At first I thought I know where this is going, but boy was I wrong! It took a very surprising turn which left me gasping. 4.5*
Where do I start with this book! The Other Daughter kept me reading and wanting to read till it was finished. I really want to disclose all the twists and turns that happened: but I can’t! You’ll just have to read it.
I will say that I gasped towards the end because I just didn’t see it coming. Ok not a gasp, but a shout really that woke my kids.
I feel very privileged to have read this book and look forward to reading more from the author.
Sorry no spoilers. I’m not even going to give you a hint. Just read the book today
