Unfortunately not being in my self-help era I didn't get much out of this one, so to be perfectly honest I skimmed through much of it.
Some other reviews have mentioned that this was really helpful for them, so please don't take my word as gospel!
This is part self-help book and part workbook and a good resource for anyone who wants (or needs) to work on self-love. There is a mix of personal stories, short pieces on a variety of topics from finding your voice to ending negative self-talk, and lots of activities and journal prompts to help you work through some of the hard feelings that have kept you from loving yourself. I was able to connect with much of what Sacre Dallerup shares in the book, but there were a few ideas that were off-base for me. Despite that, I think this could be a beneficial read for many people. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I hadn't heard of this author before but was made aware she had written other books - as she liked to continually remind the reader.
This book had practical tips but I felt that it would work better in actual book form rather than on a kindle. In terms of the exercises there was nothing new or anything that I hadn't heard before but if you weren't aware of mindfulness and the techniques then it was an accessible book.
Personally it wasn't to my taste and i think there needs to be more editing.
Overall, i gave this book a 3 - it was easy to read and understand but didnt set my world on fire.
Thank you to netgalley for providing me with an arc.
A great self-help book about relationships and love, most importantly self-love. I really enjoy reading books like this when needing a little push with motivation and this was a great book that did just that.

This is too rah-rah cheery, "everything happens as the universe meant it to, so you could learn and grow" for me. It borders on toxic positivity: stop feeling sorry for yourself, if you're not happy you should change your life, love yourself enough to take the plunge.
For some people who need/want a kick in the pants to get their shit together, this might be a good resource. But I didn't find it particularly helpful.
As a Strictly fan I was surprised that this book had been written by Camilla, not realising the change in career path she's had. Having read this book I realise there is so much more to her than meets the eye. In this book, she provides insightful and honest advice, along with activities to help guide you in uncovering the difficulties in your life. I'll definitely read this again!
A helpful book for someone on the start of their self acceptance and self love journey , broken into easy chapters and with guided exercises it’s a great little self help book. Wonderful book, great guide and a wonderful self help tool.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
This is an excellent book that delves into the concept of self-love and self-care and fully explains what those concepts mean and the steps to take to successfully achieve those goals.
It helps you understand how valuable those concepts are to your entire life and provides exercises to help you practice developing the skills needed to become a self-confident and complete person within yourself.
Written by Camilla Sacre-Dallerup (who is a dancer, actress, author AND life coach), It's Not You It's Me is a guide to improve and better understand our relationships, be it with a family member, a boss, or ourselves.
It's divided into four chapters: Self-Awareness (where you explore the way you see yourself), Self-Acceptance (where you learn to accept yourself and others), Self-Love (where you learn to love yourself) and Self-Care.
I'm not sure if mine was an unfinished copy, but I did feel like there was some editing needed, both when it came to the writing and the organization of the book itself. However, the messages were there, and some of them were pretty powerful.
My favorite chapters were the last two, even though there were some very interesting points and exercises in all of them. The author made me reflect on some of the things I think and say about myself, and I ended up rethinking and creating a new self-care routine thanks to her advice.
It wasn't a life-changing book for me, but that's because I was already familiar with many of her exercises and ideas. If, on the other hand, you're someone who is just now getting started when it comes to subjects like self-awareness, self-love, manifesting, and psychology in general, I would actually highly recommend it.
Thank you Netgalley for my free copy.
I really tried to get into this book but sadly I just couldn't. at all. I might pick up another day and give it another try.
It's Not You, It's Me by Camilla Sacre-Dallerup is actually the first self-help book that I've ever read. The title was appealing to me, and the simple yet eye catching cover didn't hurt my desire to pick this book up. I figure we could all use a little self reflection every once in awhile, and I think reading this book gave plenty of advice on how one can do so. I did think that the formatting of the book was a little confusing, but also this is an ARC and I'm not an avid reader of self-help books, so I'm unaware if this type of formatting is a common style of the genre. What I do know is that I enjoyed the affirmations, and I enjoyed that there were actual exercises in the book that the author walked you through step by step. It was helpful considering I'd never picked up a book by her before and I'm new to self-help. That being said I think that even if you're new to the genre you'd be able to follow along with this one well. It did take me a week or so to get through it, but I think that taking your time reading through allows you soak in what you're reading.
All in all this was a good read. I think I will definitely pick up another by this author, or maybe even just another self-help/self-reflection book in general.
The book is part of a recent wave of books in the line of "heal yourself". Even though I didn't agree with the author on some thing this little book is useful for anyone believing they are the problem and they'll stay that way.
With an emphasis on self-love and taking responsibility for your own life, It's Not You, It's Me is a breath of fresh air in the self help world. With guided exercises and a no-nonsense attitude, this book is perfect for those of us who sometimes struggle with self-esteem issues that affect the other relationships in our lives, or vice versa.
A special thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is a good easy read self help book. The message or the theory is not new but the way it is delivered with stories, case studies and the authors own experience might appeal to some people. It is quite high level so would be more suited to those new to the self help field. It is good they way the focus is always on the self, and some of the exercises and meditations were excellent.
It's Not You, It's Me by Camilla Sacre-Dallerup is a self-help book aimed at making you reflect on your life.
This a wonderful book that shows us how to heal our most important relationship, the one with ourselves. We are asking ourselves questions and going through exercises to reclaim this relationship. It shows us how to stand in our own power rather than giving it away. This is a splendid book and I would reccomend it.
