Book 2 DID NOT disappoint. Seraphine and Blaise's story was amazing!! The book picks up after book one and the death of Seraphine's dad. Shes still working for him and thinking that he is potentially the reason for his death. This book has it all for me and a low build up to their relationship. You also come to realize that Blaise isn't a bad guy like you might think from book 1. I loved the history of their relationship too. Great read I cannot wait for the next book!

The Dumonts series has a second book. This is the story of Blaise and Seraphine.
We knew about them from Discretion , the first book in the series. What I didn’t expect is to go through all the suspense and unexpected love story between them!
This story is a very fast paced one, we barely take a break and going back and forward when everything started, to the moments that brings them together more often than just family events and work meetings.
There are many secrets involved and some will be revealed but there are so many other to be discovered still and hopefully we’ll get to read Pascal’s story very soon because he’s my favourite character from this family.
Another great love story added to this family and beautiful place in France.
Disarm is book 2 in this series and like everything else by Karina Halle it was fabulous! Looking forward to more from this author.
Well considering I've been on a good ride with NA books I was too optimistic for this book. The reviews were good so I thought the book will be too. Not that it was bad. It was pretty good fro some books I've read and the suspension in the book made it more of a delight to read but it was Seraphine who made this book receive less stars. She was just too annoying for me. At first I was super excited cuz she was an Indian and it's not everyday we find badass Indian characters in NA books (because that is what they made us believe at first, that Seraphine was badass) which she unfortunately turned out not to be. Every turn she made a stupid ass decision. I wanted to scream where the hell was the strong woman she claimed to be from? Blaise despite being this amazing alpha male, once again failed to capture my interest. It's not that he was a bad hero, its just he felt lukewarm. Not the finest out there. Well not even close to that as a matter of fact. The only saving grace for me was Pascal. For some unknown reason I really liked his character. He seemed to be someone he's not showing. He was not as cold hearted as he shows himself to be so I'm happy that the next book is gonna be about him.
Like I mentioned before, it's not that I disliked the story, it's just it didn't interest me enough but that's not to say I won't read the next book or actively search for the previous. I was intrigues enough to read the other two too.
I read an ARC of the first book in this series and really enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to reading this book! I was waiting patiently for it to release, but I was then able to get an ARC from the publisher and I started reading it as soon as I could! After reading this book, I can say I loved it a lot! The plot only took me a few sittings to read and it had me desperate to read on and find out what was going to happen next! It developed at the perfect pace as well and There was plenty of romance in the plot as well, and the romance allowed for a few seriously hot scenes between the two main characters! There was a bit of action and suspense as well! The ending of this book was also left at the perfect place for the characters and I loved it! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Seraphine was the main female character, and she made quite a few appearances in the first book as a secondary character, so I couldn't wait to read her story! I got to learn a lot more about Seraphine in this book and my heart went out to her because she had been through a lot and she tried her best in this book to find out the truth! Seraphine was also a strong character and she learned a lot about the other characters in this book! Blaise was the main male character and love interest of Seraphine! It's been a few months since I read the first book, but I think that Blaise made a few appearances in it! I loved Blaise a lot in this book! He didn't trust his family, which was completely understandable, and he went against them to help Seraphine! I loved the way Blaise was with Seraphine too! They had a history and he had always felt something for her, but was able to act on his feelings in this book! He was protective of her too! I loved that this book was written from Seraphine and Blaise's point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be because the first book was written from dual point of view and the synopsis gives the impression that it's going to be written this way! I'm really happy that it was because it helped me connect more with Seraphine and Blaise and understand It allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well, especially as they didn't spend every second of the plot together and had their own situations going on! I now can't wait to read the next book in this series! I know that it's going to be the final book, which has me sad, but I'm exciated about who the main characters are going to be and I'm excited for it to release! I know that it doesn't release until February, which is a bit of a wait, but at least it's not a year lol! I'll definitely be reading it as soon as it releases! The cover for this book is also seriously hot! I loved it as soon as I saw it and it looks perfect with the cover for the first book! The cover model is also the perfect Blaise and the cover would definitely attract me to the book!
"Disarm" is the 2nd book of the Dumonts series and it picks up a couple of months after [book:Discretion|43806074] ended. The story now focuses on Seraphine, Olivier's half-sister, and Blaise, her half-cousin. I can't say you can't read this one as a standalone, but it's better if you pick up Discretion first to read about the backstory that the author set in motion in there, or you will miss important pieces from the puzzle.
I just have to point out something to the author and editor. I know this isn't the final version of the book since it's not even released, but still. In the chapter where they are in Italy, the farmer says a line in Italian. Well, the problem is that the "e" in "Qual é il problema?" has the wrong accent mark. In my copy, it is written as "é", but the accent mark is wrong. In Italian we have the acute accent mark but the "e" in that context, which is the verb "to be", has a grave accent. -> "è". So the correct line is: "Qual è il problema?". I'm telling you this because I am Italian, so I'm telling you as a mothertongue.
Like I said, this book is about Seraphine and Blaise. We've met both in the previous book because they are related to Olivier Dumont, and it was clear that despite they seemed to hate each other, in reality they liked each other. It's better to say they've liked each other for so long it was basically strange that they never gave a chance to each other, but the thing is complicated.
Seraphine was adopted by the Dumonts when she was 9, and the author shows us her first memories of her adopted parents and new half-brothers Olivier and Renaud, as well as her cousins. We have a chapter were we read about her past alternating with a chapter talking about her present, so that we get to know her backstory better. I loved the flashbacks because they were able not only to make Seraphine's character deep and interesting so you knew where she was coming from, but it also helped shape and cement her history with Blaise.
In Discretion, we saw Blaise as the black sheep of his side of the Dumont family. He's the son of the evil Gautier and brother to the submissive and stalkerish Pascal, that don't consider a member of their family because they believe he's too soft. Through the flashbacks chapters we see Blaise growing up in a world of snakes. In this world where you can't trust nobody, he's attracted to Seraphine, who is a light among all the lying people who are in his life. He doesn't know why, but ever since he meets her, he's allured to her, and he doesn't know why.
I liked his internal conflict: Blaise is the youngest son of a man who lives for money and fame and is obsessed with bloodlines and whatnot. When his brother Ludovic adopts Seraphine, who was not only an orphan but a woman of color, he doesn't accept it and he's racist against her just because she's not blood related to them. So of course Gautier expects his sons Pascal and Blaise to despise her as well, since she's living a life she shouldn't live. Blaise is a bit of an angry guy growing up, because he's frustrated with his family and everything, so most of his interactions with Seraphine make her believe he hates her guts too, even though he knows he acts like an ass because he knows he likes her too much for his own good. Plus, they are half-cousins. She's not blood related but she's still legally linked to him. All of these things and the fact that in the present Seraphine seems to feel only hatred towards him because of what happened in the past and what his father has probably done to hers, make Blaise think that this is a lost cause.
Seraphine and Blaise had a strong level of angst. You could feel it through the past moments they shared and through their present ones. Their love for each other blossomed when they were young and as they grew up, it only became a mass of unresolved sexual tension. Until they couldn't hold themselves anymore. Seraphine doubted Blaise's trust in all of this because of Gautier. The man is really creepy and he'd go to any length to save his face, and Seraphine has always believed that Blaise worked for him and she shouldn't be fooled by what he says. We finally see that Blaise on the contrary has always hated his family and he did everything he could to be different and as far as possible from all of them, and he gets his chance to prove to Seraphine that he's on her side. All of their past interactions plus the ones in the present and the suspenseful events that happen in between build up to the moment of truth, to the moment where they can't deny their feelings and sexual tension to each other anymore. I loved that. I loved how their angst grew chapter after chapter until it exploded. I loved how the author didn't rush things between them and made them face their issues with each other one at a time before making them unlock their passion.
Of course, this book didn't just have Seraphine and Blaise's story. It also showed us that sadly the mystery/suspense item that Discretion opened hasn't been resolved yet, but I guess it's ok since we'll also get Pascal's book. I'm excited! Because until some point I thought Pascal couldn't be redeemed anymore, but we after some point I guess that he'll come around to help his brother and cousins to finally put his father behind bars.
I will patiently wait for that one.
Thank you netgalley and the publishers and ofcourse karina halle for this ARC!
I have read the first book and I fell in love with it! And was eagerly waiting for this one and I am glad to say that it didn't disappoint! The angst drama and ofcourse the scorching chemistry between the protagonist sealed the deal for me. Absolutely loved this one and so glad I got to read it before publishing. What an amazing book another hit from Karina Halle!❤
If you love angst, drama, mystry, scheming and manipulating family and sibbling rivalry and forbidden romance off the charts then this is for you🖤. Highly recommended! Happy reading!
OMG - I thought book one with Olivier and Sadie was good but Blaise and Seraphine's book - I just have to say wow!
I dont want to give anything away since you really should read book 1 to understand the full storyline but I will say that who I thought these 2 characters wherein the first book was nothing like who they really are. Especially the very sexy Blaise. The character transformation was so good that I couldn't put the book down and finished it in 48 hours (only because I had to work). If you are looking for a great story that is filled with character history, suspense, romance and strong characters than Disarm is right up your alley and so worth the time to invest in both book 1 and 2. If you have already read book 1 then you must read Disarm!
Disarm is the 2nd book in the Dumont series by Karina Halle. I was so happy to be able to go back into this story. There is so much suspense, and drama. I couldn't stop reading! Blaise and Seraphine's forbidden love story was so good. It was sweet and sexy! Honestly it's everything I have come to expect from Karina Halle's writing! I can't wait for the next book to see how it continues! I definitely recommend!
I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review

The second Dumont book!
Olivier already found his happily ever after and left for California.
Seraphine is left all alone with her horrible uncle and her cousins. She's trying her best to keep the family company running the way her dad would've wanted it - but her uncle is quickly ruining everything.
Plus she also thinks that her dad was murdered. By her uncle, or her cousin Pascal?
And suddenly she's working together with her cousin Blaise to find out what happened and to survive whatever the bad guys have planned for them ...
P.S. Seraphine was adopted when she was nine - so Blaise is not a blood relative - in case you were weirded out ☺
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH SERAPHINE & BLAISE?
WILL WE GET A HAPPY END?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!☺

Well, I loved this!
It's a sweet and exciting love story.
I already had to cry in the prologue!
Poor Seraphine was so happy to have been adopted by the Dumonts, but now she's left all alone. Only her cousin Blaise seems to be on her side. Well, when he's not driving her insane - like he's been doing since they were teenagers! She's not really sure she can trust him. But they have to work together to stop Gautier from destroying the company and more importantly from killing any more people - like maybe Seraphine!!!!?
I really enjoyed reading it. There were some weird moments, like with how Blaise was celibate for years and years while he waited for Seraphine to fall in love with him? A bit ridiculous.
But I really like this series and I can't wait to see how in the hell we will fall in love with Pascal in the next book! ☺ Whoops - S p o i l e r ! Now you already know that Pascal might not be the baddest guy here! ☺
► DISARM was a really sweet & exciting love adventure!
Loved it and now I cant wait for the next one!
I read the first book of this series, even though they could be read as standalone, its always best to read them all. I really liked Seraphine but I had a major crush on Blaise. He is between love and family loyalty and its a hard place to be. I recommend reading them all, they all have a taste of a "Dallas" type drama. Really good.

What a great way to pick up after the first book ended. The underlying plot was still there in this book but it had switched to new characters. This time the characters were Blaise and Seraphine. This book had a little bit of everything; suspense, taboo, and mystery. I had no idea who to trust and who couldn't be trusted. It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure it out.
My only complaint with this book, and why it didn't get a higher rating, was how these two could just walk away after the truth came out. Why wasn't it pursued? It just didn't sit right with me. However, I still greatly enjoyed this story.
This is yet another great book to add to this author's amazing collection of works.
After reading the first book in the duet I was curious to learn more about the heroine. Interesting story without the usual romance novel tropes.
After the excitement of Discretion I was eager to continue the story of the Dumonts with Seraphine and Blaise...and hopefully find out some answers about the death of Seraphine’s dad.
While Discretion was fast paced and mysterious, Disarm was a slower paced, family drama. It tells the story of how Seraphine comes into the Dumont family, how Blaise and Seraphine antagonize each other, and get under each other’s skin, in a story that goes back and forth from past to present, and between both of their narratives. I found myself impatient for their present day story but knowing their past made their difficult "now" plausible. And once I hit the 60% mark I flew through it, liked their ending, and now find myself very curious about what Halle will do the Pascal!
Disarm features vicious bad guys, misunderstood good guys, and family issues out tha wazoo and has me hooked and ready for more from these Dumont kids.
Wowie!
What a ride this one is!
Let me start off by saying this one can be read on its own. You should read the first one first, but it’s okay if you don’t.
Seraphine was adopted at the age of 9. She loved her adopted family very much. But then her mother dies and then her father a few years later. She believes he is murdered by her uncle. Her cousin, Blaise, and her have always had a complicated relationship. Always.
Does he believe her? Is he like his father?
This story was great and I highly recommend it!
Wow.... just wow! Book two of the dumont series does not disappoint. This is one I could not put down, after reading discretion, it leaves you with so many questions . Book 2 picks up and answers many of those questions.
The story is filled with suspense, heat and a little taboo. It’s easy to get absorbed in this book and read it cover to cover , I know I did . Seraphine and Blaise are a love story with such depth your heart just feels all the emotions with each word you read. It’s hard not to root for A happy ending. The book didn’t necessarily have a cliff hanger but it did end with many unanswered questions. Must read! Can’t wait too see if there will be another in this series
Thank you netgalley and karina for this advanced copy
Well the plot thickens! Blaise and Seraphine bring new meaning to kissing cousins! I absolutely adored this book! It will have you reading into the night. I do not want to give anything away, and it is definitely best to go into this book blind. I cannot wait for book three to see what she does with Pascal! Love the twists in this story! 5 stars
Disarm follows on from Discretion but it is Seraphine's point of view. A fabulous book as I knew it would be! I could not put it down! I really enjoyed Blaise's character and like Seraphine I wasn't sure on whether or not he could be trusted. But wow! The chemistry between these two! Hot! I have loved the storyline with these 2 books and I am hoping there will somehow be a book about the 3rd brother as he is a mystery and I would love to know his story.
* I recommend that you read Discretion before Disarm.
Appearances can be deceiving. That's especially true for the Dumont family, from the outside they have it all, a very successful fashion house in Paris and everything that comes with it, fortune and fame included. From the inside of the family tragedy and betrayal are everywhere. Seraphine's grieving the loss of her father who she believes was murdered by his own brother. Needing to know the truth, she becomes a target herself. Feeling alone in the world again since both of her parent's deaths and her brothers living on a different continent she doesn't know who she can trust. Blaise has quietly loved Seraphine from afar most of their lives. Knowing to be with her would complicate an already messy complicated situation his actions and words to her range from indifferent to mean. Blaise himself is suspicious of his father's involvement in his uncle's death. He just has to convince Seraphine that he's on her side, and always has been despite his past actions.
In Discretion, we're left at the end with the bomb that Seraphine believes that her father was murdered. In Disarm we have Seraphine and Blaise working together to find the truth. This book has a little bit of a forbidden element in that Blaise and Seraphine are cousins by name only, Seraphine was adopted by the Dumont's when she was 9. Disarm has more twists, turns, and revelations than Discretion, and more of the suspense element. I really felt for Seraphine, essentially becoming an orphan all over again with her father's death, feeling completely alone again and not knowing who to trust. Blaise, I hated him during some of the flashback scenes, the way he treated Seraphine, but at the same time, I understand that he felt trapped. I was glad to see the differences in him as an adult, doing the right thing and standing up for Seraphine despite the consequences. Overall I enjoyed this book, it was great suspense, I can't wait to see what Karina Halle does in the third.
If you liked Discretion your going to LOVE Disarm!
The book follows on from the events in Discretion. We get to see how Seraphine is dealing with the death of her father whilst working with her uncle, the man who she believes is responsible for his death. We learn alot of back story on Seraphine and Blaise and their turbulent relationship. I love how this book completely changed my opinion of Blaise.
Disarm has a bit of everything, love, mystery and plenty of drama! I love that it's not just your typical love story the thriller side of it really kept me gripped and once I started reading I didn't want to stop.
Can't wait to read Pascal's story next.
