An amazing story, especially considering this is a debut novel . I loved it. Highly recommended . Don't just take my word for it
The Wreckage is awesome! Well written with an original plot and some great characters...what more can you ask for?
The start is a little slow but you need to continue reading since it’s fantastic!
This was a fascinating book with a compelling storyline. It definitely kept me reading and II couldn't predict which way it was heading which I enjoyed!
Adam steps out in front of Ben's car as he goes to work one morning and sets off a chain of events that result in Ben becoming more and more involved in the life Adam left behind. This thriller pulls you in and keeps you reading - I thought the pace increased throughout the book as it raced to the end and it was interesting to see this kind of thriller written from the POV of a male narrator.
I enjoyed this book,it was very original. The pace and story was good, and it made for an enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for an honest review. I was intrigued by the premise.
The narrative alternates between the POVs of: Ben, a thirty-something primary school teacher who one morning driving to work accidentally hits a man with his car, and Alice, the wife of the man who’s been hit. Turned out her husband has always suffered from depression and he deliberately stepped out in front of fast moving vehicle in a suicide attempt. Struggling with grief Ben reaches out to Alice and slowly starts to insinuate himself into her life...
I won’t give more of the plot away. This was a gripping and pacy read that I couldn’t put down. I couldn’t tell where the story was going, and didn’t see the twists and reveals at the end coming. I did find Ben’s actions odd though and would’ve appreciated some backstory to illuminate his obsessive personality. On the whole a refreshing and addictive debut in psychological suspense genre. 4.5/5
I had shivers down my spine by the end of this book. This is a really good thriller will some really good twists.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book at the start as I couldn’t see where it was going but I kept going and it was really good.
The main female character is unlikeable but relatable and when everything starts to unravel, you can’t quite believe what’s happening!
The way the book is written is clever and engaging.
I didn’t honestly know how much I enjoyed this book until I’d finished it. I know that sounds a bit odd but it’s the best way I can describe it. When I first started it I wasn’t sure it was my type of book but it really kept me wanting to continue reading it. Both Alice and Ben are likeable characters even though they can be annoying sometimes! I really enjoyed all the twists and turns and the surprises in the story. With a good ending it was one of most enjoyable books I’ve read this year. Highly recommended.
I just love finding new authors and this is a brilliant debut book. A great storyline with really likeable characters that you feel sorry for one minute then annoyed with the next, you certainly go through a range of emotions with them. I would recommend this book and author and look forward to reading more in the future.
Ben has one of the worst days of his life when Adam jumps out in front of his car one morning. Ben struggles to cope with the guilt and the agony that Adam’s wife, Alice, is going through. Soon Ben feels a connection with Alice and her son, Max, and steps up to help them in their time of need.
Oh my, for a debut novel I was surprised at how good this was. The characters are brilliant as one minute you love them then you’re angry at them, then pained for them. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
It was a fascinating novel by an extremely talented writer. Excellent character depiction, plus an exciting storyline make for a roaring success. Highly recommended.
