This author goes out of her way to show the life of new mothers, the joys and the pains and anxieties, as well as any suffering that could happen. Lack of sleep, the perils and the risks of having babysitters, the guilt of career mothers who must return to work too soon after giving birth. The book is a thriller about the kidnapping of one mother's infant and about the women in her mommy group who try to find the child.
The Perfect Mother is a suspenseful story with an original plot line and its fair share of twists.
Roz found herself pregnant after a tryst with a man who should have been off limits. She decided to give the baby up for adoption, through a reputable adoption site. She was paired up with a Diamond Couple, meaning they were VERY rich, from the United States. Things felt off from the start once she arrived in New York. The couple selected aren’t at all what she expected.
I felt that the book held a great amount of suspense and wondering of what was next, but I feel it lacked the true angst that something bad is going to happen to the main character. From the beginning my gut said things were going to turn out ok. The revelation of the baby’s father was interesting though.
3.5 stars – Rounding to 4 stars for Goodreads
Thanks to Amazon Publishing UK and NetGalley for a review copy in exchange for my honest review.
What an interesting and creepy book! I called the twist early-ish on in the book. I think the author did a good job at the multiple POV. I think it would have been interesting to have one of Daniel. He was such an interesting character.
Brilliant, keeps you gripped and on your toes from the start. Very tense and I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to reading more from the author!
Smart and very well written thriller. I found it gripping and suspenseful. I am looking forward to more books from this author.
This book was so good! It was unpredictable and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I could not find out what was going to happen to Roz fast enough. Good character development and pace of the story. I will read more from Caroline Mitchell
The other day Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp went down for quite a long time, so I decided that due to the forced stopping of my incessant scrolling of FB and read a book that has been on my TBR for a while now.
The Perfect Mother sees Irish girl Roz in a bit of a situation, she had a one night stand and this resulted in her getting pregnant. She rooms with her best friend Dympna (would love to hear the pronunciation of this) who says she will be there with Roz every step of the way, but seeing how she has no prospects, estranged from her mother and no money – she wants to to be the perfect mother to her child but she knows in her current situation that wouldn’t be possible. Roz joins an elite adoption agency called Miracle Moms that basically is and adoption/surrogacy site, they also have ‘Diamond’ clients meaning they are crazy rich. She gets chatting to a couple who wished to remain anonymous until they decided if they were a right fit and Roz bites the bullet and decided to fly to New York and meet them, who turned out to be celebrity couple Sheridan Sinclair and Daniel Watson.
Sheridan and Daniel are a power coupler, though Sheridan’s career is dwindling whilst Daniels is taking off, and already having a son, Leo, they decided to ‘adopt’ a second child. Once Roz arrives you can tell instantly that this whole set up is all kinds of wrong, and I couldn’t believe how naïve she was as accepting things! She was told to give up her phone, and Sheridan’s reasoning was since she had no one at home (since Roz has lied and made out she was all alone) therefore she didn’t need it, on and she was staying in the fully furnished basement – that only had lift access that Roz couldn’t activate!
All these red flags going on, you could see where this was heading but yet Roz just had her rose tinted glasses on until pretty much the end.
Overall this was a pretty intense book that killed a few hours – and the father’s identity I wasn’t expecting!!
Unputdownable page turner. Really enjoyed this read, it was extremely suspenseful with an unexpected ending. Easy to read in one sitting, you won't want to put this one down.
An absolute shocker about just how far someone is willing to go to get the life they want, with no regard for anything or anyone else!
A fast paced read full of suspense and red herrings! One of my new favourite authors!!
I raced through The Perfect Mother without wanting to put it down. The concept is original and exciting, the characters are well fleshed out and sympathetic, the plot is satisfyingly twisty and the pacing never lets up. There's nothing I didn't love about it. This is definitely an author I'll be reading more of.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Review posted to goodreads and amazon.co.uk, where approval is still pending.
Roz’s one-night stand results in a pregnancy that she needs to hide. Not only does she need to keep this a secret, but she certainly doesn’t want her baby living a life of poverty like she did.
When a Diamond Couple from the United States shows lots of interest in her on Miracle Moms, a site for adoptions, she jumps at the opportunity to give her baby the life she never had.
Is the baby the only thing they are interested in?
There is a slow build up, but once the twists, turns and surprises start occurring you won’t be able to put it down.
Thank you to #netgalley and #amazonpublishinguk for providing an eArc for review!
This book kept me guessing from start to finish. I don’t want to give anything away, but just when you think you can see what’s coming… something comes out of nowhere and changes everything.

I really enjoyed this story. Roz finds herself pregnant and broke. Seeing no future for her child with her in Dublin, she looks to an adoption site where she finds the perfect couple to adopt her child. Her best friend, Dipna tries to talk her out of going to America, but Roz can not see past the predicament she is in. When she gets to American and meets the celebrity couple who promised the world for Roz’s baby everything starts to go wrong. She becomes a prisoner to Sheridan and Daniel. Will she get out before it’s to late?
A great story of friendship, betrayal and celebrities who think they deserve everything.
This was a fantastic read from start to finish!
I thought I knew what was going on at numerous times during the book.... but was wrong every time!

This is filled with excellent characters.
Excellent book for fans of psychological thrillers
Great book! It has a good plot and good story. Like all good books I can´t believe all the story. The writer has a way of telling the story and describing the characters that catch you and you can't leave it.
I recomend it to you!
