In brief summary this is about a young girl, Roz living in Ireland who falls pregnant and decides to "sell" her baby to a couple in America...but oh there is so much more to this book.
In parts it reminded me of The Handmaid's Tale with its uncomfortable scenes involving Roz and her unborn baby.
This is certainly a page turner of a book with plenty of twists and turns. I did guess the twist quite a bit before the end but that didn't bother me. In fact I was excited for everything to be revealed!
A really great thriller that makes you cry, cringe and feel slightly comfortable (in a good way!)
I will certainly be looking at reading more books by Caroline.

I don’t often give five stars but this totally deserves it. I was hooked from the very beginning and was on the edge of my seat for much of the ride.
The storyline was fantastic. Roz was a single Irish girl who finds out she is pregnant, she doesn’t feel that she is the right person to bring up her baby, she is struggling and she wants the best for it. She joins a website to find suitable parents for the baby, not thinking she will actually find anyone, but when a diamond member from America shows interest, meaning they are wealthy and trusted members, she decides to see what they are like.
Whisked away to America Roz is railroaded into giving her baby to this couple but while Roz is pregnant she has to stay in a locked basement apartment and things take a sinister turn.
Well written and absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I felt like I was living in Roz’s shoes.
Caroline Mitchell penned something quite remarkable, terrifying and amazing.

I received an ARC of The Perfect Mother by Caroline Mitchell thru Netgalley for an honest review. Oh my goodness, what a page turner of a book. The Perfect Mother weaves a tale of a young woman who finds out that she is pregnant, and seeks to find the perfect family for her baby. Raz may be 24, but her life is not all together, and has a strong sense of responsibilities. Knowing fully well that she will not be able to take care if her baby, she goes on-line looking for the perfect parents to-be. Thru the website Magic Mommies, she meets Sheridan and Daniel Watson.Like the old saying goes,if seems to good to be true, then it usually is.
Sheridan used to thrive in the spotlight when she was a young girl growing up. Her mother, from Sheridan's point of view, reminded me of Mommy Dearest. When the mom cares more about how to make her daughter a super-star at any cost, how does it affect the child? Granted, I am not giving Sheridan any slack for how she treated Raz and misleading so many people around her, but you as a reader have to remember the things that happened to her.
To Roz, a young woman whose own childhood has not been an easy one, but proved to be a much better person than Sheridan. Just because you have all the money in the world does not make a great, caring, or even a great person. How you act, how you treat those around you, is what makes you, you.
Thru Roz's friends and"family" some things come to light, and very promising for the young mom. Truly a trilling, great read. Thank you Caroline Mitchell for writing this unique novel that had me gripped from the prologue.

What a deliciously twisted story written by Caroline Mitchell. What seems like something so outright plain and simple hardly turns out to be that way. There are more twists and turns than a drive on a mountain road. What a great read, a page turner for sure! Thanks so much!

I did enjoy this book, but also felt in a couple places it jumped so far ahead in the story I almost felt like I had skipped a chapter or two. That being said, it was a gripping read & I did enjoy it

This book seemed like it would be great but I just couldn’t get into it or care about the characters at all.

Kept me in suspense the whole time! Obviously I knew Sheridan was evil, but had no clue that the story was going to go where it did, and who would be involved! Great story weaving. Would love more from this author.

“The Perfect Mother” by Caroline Mitchell definitely had an interesting premise. Here is the blurb:
“She thought they wanted her baby. But they won’t stop there.
Roz is young, penniless and pregnant. All she wants is to be the perfect mother to her child, but the more she thinks about her own chaotic upbringing, the more certain she is that the best life for her baby is as far away as possible from her hometown in Ireland.
Determined to do the right thing, Roz joins an elite adoption service and can’t believe her luck. Within days she is jetting to New York to meet a celebrity power couple desperate for a child of their own. Sheridan and Daniel are wealthy and glamorous—everything Roz isn’t. Her baby will never go hungry, and will have every opportunity for the perfect life. But soon after Roz moves into their plush basement suite, she starts to suspect that something darker lurks beneath the glossy surface of their home.
When Roz discovers she isn’t the first person to move in with the couple, and that the previous woman has never been seen since, alarm bells start ringing. As the clock ticks down to her due date, Roz realizes her unborn baby may be the only thing keeping her alive, and that despite her best intentions, she has walked them both into the perfect nightmare…”
What I liked about this book was again, the premise. I liked the twists as well. The ending to me was missing something. Overall, this was a tense, suspenseful read that is perfect for fans of thrillers.
* I received an advanced digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.*

Did not finish this one. I just could not engage with the story. Too predictable and chock full of cliches that went nowhere.

This was an easy to read thriller thaylt kept my attention all the way through! Lots of twists and surprises I didn't see coming. Very good, would recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was a page turner from the start and kept me gripped throughout. I loved the characters and felt drawn into their plight, even feeling sorry for Sheridan right through to the end. This was a really well written, well thought through story. I'd highly recommend it.

This, in my honest opinion, was terrible. I didn’t like either of the main characters in this. I feel like everything was predictable and was truly let down.

This book had a great idea and it was quite a pacy, thrilling read, but it was a little far-fetched and I found it quite hard to immerse myself in it because it was so unbelievable.
Although I liked the twist that she had slept with her best friend's dad!

Roz is a young Irish lass who finds herself broke and pregnant. Desperate to give her baby the life that he/she deserves, Roz joins an adoption agency for the rich and famous. She is thrilled when she is chosen by a famous American couple, and doesn't bat an eye when they ask her to move in with them in NYC while she awaits the birth of the baby. As excited as Roz is, she begins to have reservations when she arrives in America. While their home is luxurious, Roz will be spending her days alone in the basement, waiting to give birth. Then, the behavior of the future adoptive parents starts to become more and more strange. Roz is soon scared for her life, especially when she discovers that there had previously been another young pregnant girl in the family.....a girl who disappeared and has not been seen again. As the months crawl by, Roz begins to fear that she may not be leaving the home....at least, not alive. How can she escape, and save not only her unborn child, but herself?
Such a creepy book that almost bordered on the horror genre. Roz is literally kept as a prisoner in this home, with deranged captors. Is she going to be able to escape, or will Roz ultimately vanish without a trace? While some parts were unrealistic for sure, it was enjoyable enough that I was able to easily suspend reality. Great book, highly recommend!

This book was one of those that I was able to put down and not have the need to pick back up..
sorry not the book for me.

Roz is young and pregnant living in Ireland, with no money, and no husband to help raise her unborn child. When Roz find a celebrity adoptions website, she is thrilled that an American celebrity couple would want to adopt her unborn child. The couple agrees to pay for everything and even let Roz live in their mansion until the child is born. Roz soon finds out that the things she thought were once so glamorous, are not so wonderful after all. She is kept captive and things turn dire. This book will keep the reader captivated and turning the pages until the very end.

Thanks to Netgalley For an advanced reader copy.
I think this book has a misleading title. This is more about the adoption couple than the mother. It was okay.

Word to the wise, there is no such thing as a Perfect Mother.
I was on the edge of my seat when the story started rocking and rolling. For a little while, was confused as it jumped back and forth between characters.
Definitely a good read for when you want something suspenseful.

I have to say that I thought I would like The Perfect Mother when I first picked it up. It's my type of book and Caroline Mitchell is my type of author. I am not sure, however, that I expected to like it as much as I did, mainly because I read a lot of this style of book and they can sometimes start to feel like much of a muchness.
What saves The Perfect Mother from this fate is Caroline Mitchell's writing, which is full of suspense, and Sheridan, who is just the right side of crazy to make a perfect villain. I didn't want to like her but, in a strange way, I did. She is so unhinged and so scary that it heightened everything else in the book for me, turning it into a real page-turner.
The plot itself was well thought out and had plenty of twists and turns to keep me interested. I like how you aren't quite sure who Roz can trust (which I imagine could be very true of people who work for the rich and famous) and there were a few surprises at the end I didn't see coming.
All in all, then, a jolly good read and a book I'd highly recommend.

The love of a mother is strong, and women will do crazy things for the people they care for. I can’t imagine being in this woman’s shoes, it was so crazy!
