I am not sure about this book.
I found it slow to get into, then I was hooked and then found the ending confusing, but I guess that was the aim. Was she or was she not?
I did not expect the ending to appear as it did, But I do think Tarryn managed to keep the pace up and the excitement to continue to read the book. Most of the book you want the husband to be caught and then the twist happens. If you want to know what I suggest you read the book!
Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. For the first three quarters of this book I was incandescent with rage. How dare a man treat three different women with such total disrespect. Then, what a turnaround. How could one woman do this to two others and her "husband". Totally riveting.
This book had many twists and turns, in that aspect it was wonderful, I kept me guessing and going from one way to the other trying to figure out the story.
The ending was somehow unexpected,
I could not out this down.
Giving 3.5 stars because the whole polygamist theme is not something I particularly enjoy reading about/ or movies.
However I don't regret reading the book, the pace was good and it was entertaining.
The Wives is the first book that I have read by Tarryn Fisher and had been mentioned, and recommended, by a few people, so I didn’t read the blurb. The Wives did not disappoint and is one of those books that stays with you for a while after you have finished it (it definitely gave me a book hangover!!).
I got completely sucked in by Thursday, who narrated the story of the life she shares with her Hubbie and two other Wives!!! The more I read, the more I wanted to read about The Wives, and I give it a definite five stars.
I am now looking forward to reading Marrow by Tarryn Fisher and just found out that I have it on the TBR pile on my kindle!
I’m already a big Tarryn Fisher fan, so this was a ‘must read’ for me.
Seth is a polygamist. He has three wives who know about each other and accept the situation. The problems start when Thursday – yes, named because she gets to see her husband on a Thursday – wants to know more about the other two. And so begins a journey of no return, full of unexpected twists and turns.
This book will mess with your head. And just when you think you’ve worked out what’s going on you’ll find you’re wrong.
An engrossing and unpredictable book, especially enjoyable if you like an unreliable narrator.
Well this book was a rollercoaster of a ride! .

Thursday is the second wife - there are two others with whom she shares her husband. She only gets to see him one night a week as the rest of the time he is at his other wives houses. .
Thursday begins to want to know more about the other wives as she doesn’t even know their names. This leads her on a journey of discovery full of heartbreak and misery. .

I’m a bit conflicted with this book. I have always wondered whether multiply wives were allocated different days of the week etc etc. This book did not answer that question! 😂 What did portray is the fragility of the human mind, what it does to protect itself, how mental illness can alter our realities and the results effects that this has on our lives. .
Also be warned there are some trigger issues in this book - mental illness, domestic violence and miscarriage. .

This book wasn't what I was expecting. Full of suspense and twists. Thank you netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. I'm finding it hard to word it to be honest.
This book was a real page turner. From start to finish it had me thoroughly hooked! The very fact the main protagonist was having to ‘share’ her husband and had signed up to this arrangement was in itself utterly mind-boggling for me and I just had to keep reading.
It has elements of ‘Fifty Shades’ meets ‘Desperate Housewives’ that just keeps you wanting more.
A real journey that makes you question how one would truly feel if they ended up in this situation. Some dark turns along the way.
I thoroughly recommend it!
The book started with a straightforward story but it soon became clear how twisted the plot was. I found the book to be over wordy and the plot so fantastical that it did not hold my interest and I found myself skim reading it at the end.
The Wives begins as a seemingly straightforward story of a woman reluctantly involved in a polygamous marriage. You are quickly drawn in and follow Thursday as she tries to find out more about her husband’s other wives. However, things don’t quite add up and Thursday is revealed as a far less reliable narrator that you first thought. As the plot moves on, her life unravels and finally you realise that virtual nothing you believed at the beginning is true.
I loved this book, it is fast paced, well written and twists and turns without becoming totally unbelievable.
A psychological thriller that you will not want to put down. Just as you think you’ve got this book all worked out you’re thrown a plot twist to put you back on the edge of your seat. I urge everyone to read this gripping book.
Thursday is married to Seth. But she shares him with two other women for Seth is a polygamist.
As the story unfolds and Thursdays frustration with the situation mounts, the tale twists unexpectedly. However, although a surprise , I found the novel wordy and overly long in places.
An interesting plot.
⭐️1 Star
‘Well written’ but poorly plotted.
The Wives by Tarryn Fisher was supposed to be a thrill ride about three women that share the same husband but what I read was a lacklustre romp into the genre.
Love, deception and unrealistic characters combine in this easily digestible but ultimately forgettable thriller. Our protagonist Thursday led a predictable plot brimming with misogyny and clichés. This book was also a poor attempt at writing a mentally unstable character.

I said well written at the beginning of this review. What I mean by this is that I read this book in a day and at no point did I feel like it dragged or was poorly paced. But overall although I liked the premise I wouldn’t recommend this book.
Trigger Warnings: Miscarriage, Domestic Abuse, Misogyny, Attempted Suicide, Stalking, Peodophilia, Molesting.
The narrator is wife number two. She loves her husband and is ok to have him one day a week - she's Thursday. But things start to go wrong and her perception of what's going on can't be trusted. Twisty and fairly engrossing but i'm not sure it ultimately delivered
Wow, twists by the page. Not what I expected at all but definitely kept me enthralled and rivited. A compelling and believable story. Disturbing and challenging your perception of different lifestyles. Once you pick it up you won't be able to put it down.
"My husband has two other wives."
The Wives is a gripping, nail-bitting thriller that's hard to put down. I found the premise of a polygamist marriage to be an original and intriguing one. Thursday is married to Seth but shares him with two other women, Monday and Tuesday. Thursday gets to see Seth only once a week and does not know the identity of Seth's other wives. Then one day she comes across Monday's real name and decides to give her a visit and befriend her. Does Monday know about Thursday or is Seth pretending Thursday is not his wife? And how does Seth's first wife fits in?
I read the Wives in a single day, eager to understand what was going on behind this unusual marriage arrangement.
"Can't a man be happy to come home to just one girl?"
I was totally absorbed in the first two thirds of the book, anxiously looking for answers with Thursday. When the twists started coming in, I found them a bit too much and my interest faded, but I still needed to know how the story ended.
3.5 stars overall
Many thanks to HQ for my review copy in exchange for an honest review.
Imagine that your husband has two other wives.
You've never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don't care. Or at least that's what you've told yourself.
This book is a psychological thriller which is very clever and unpredictable. This book is filled with twists and turns. It is dark in places. I wasn’t expecting the ending. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The authors writing style is outstanding but my only negative comment would be that the language used is crude at times which some readers may not like.
An exciting suspenseful read. I highly recommend this book.
What a brilliant book and how true we dont really know a person as much as we think we do. Keeps you in suspense which just makes you read another chapter to see what the next big reveal is
Thursday keeps telling herself that she's happy in her marriage despite its...uniqueness. Her husband has 2 other wives who he shares his time with but about whom Thursday is not allowed to query him.
But one day, her curiosity gets the better of her, and she decides to seek out the other women and by doing so sets off an avalanche of events that she could never have expected.
I found this story instantly captivating. The idea behind it was very original.
It had me hooked from literally the very first page, and this is not something that happens that often.
But after some time, what started as a uniquely compelling story, turned into a typical domestic thriller with a very predictable conclusion. On the plus side, the story was intriguing enough for me to keep reading to find out in what direction the unfolding events would go. I admit I was hoping for an unexpected twist at the very last moment, but sadly it didn't happen.
Still, it was a very enjoyable read.
My initial thought, when I started reading, was to rate it 5 stars, but as I read along, it dropped to 4. Having finished, I'm torn between 3 and 4, but since the story had great potential and started off very arrestingly, I'm settling on 4 stars and the intention to reach for other books from this author.
A clever story and a real page-turner, but I felt that all the characters were a bit two-dimensional. Thursday in particular was a very unsympathetic character, so it was hard to become truly involved in her story. I would read other books by this author though.
