She sets the table ready for her husband, Seth, coming home. This is the day she sees him, Thursday. He has two other wives and she lives in a bubble, not knowing much about them.
She’s totally besotted with and subservient towards Seth and comes across as very naive.
Curiosity gets the better of her, and she starts to investigate the other wives. After this, everything starts to unravel and you question what you thought you knew.
Is the narrator reliable? Who’s telling the truth?
I didn’t warm to any of the characters and found them difficult to relate to.
The overall feel of the story was quite uncomfortable as it’s obvious something isn’t right.
I thought the idea for this story was good but it was a bit unrealistic at times. I felt that the ending was overloaded with twists to the point it was a little confusing to keep track of what was going on. It was also a bit rushed.
This was an easy, quick read.
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for a copy of this book for review.
Honestly? Just not for me. I got in to it, I loved the beginning, but then it became a grind. I can definitely see the appeal which is why I tried. I even got the library to buy it in and gave the audiobook a go, but it just wasn't for me. Usually I utterly adore an unreliable narrator, I love it when I cannot trust their story, but the story just didn't feel right and it felt a little disjointed.
What a read! A story of 1 man, three wives. None of the wives know each other and they only see their husband on designated days of the week. MADNESS if you ask me. Each to their own, but i am very much a classic gal, takes 2 to tango, not 4!
If my husband had other wives, i would 100% want to know who they are, what they look like. I think it’s human nature to want to know. I thought I knew what this book would be, but it was a lot more. From just over a quarter of the way in I couldn’t put it down, I needed to know the truth, I needed to know what was real and what wasn’t, much like the main character Thursday.
What i most liked was that as the story unraveled along with, I became irritated like the main character because I just wanted her to be heard. I thought i knew where it was going, and each time there was a twist i was surprised. I didn’t call the ending, which I’m happy about.
This is my first Tarryn Fisher book and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more!
Thank you to @netgallery for allowing me to read this
Wow! This book is like a maze, takes you one way then another and you still don’t know where you are. Stunningly original too.
No spoilers, just read and enjoy the twisty walk.
My thanks to NetGalley and HQ for an ARC in return for an honest review.
A roller coaster of a read! Did not see the end coming, completely blew me away. Definitely going to be in my top 10 books I have read this year!
Fast paced and great thriller with twists and turns to keep you enthralled! I’d definitely recommend this book. Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the copy
This was a fun thriller but ultimately not for me, unfortunately. The twists and turns were there and in all the right places, but they weren't quite fully formed enough to surprise or shock me. All in all I think many will enjoy this but it just wasn't right for me.
I romped through this in just a few days. I definitely didn’t see the twist coming. A tale of women and what they do to each other.
Fast moving, easy reading and compulsive page turning. If you are looking for a domestic thriller to lift you from your reading slump, then this could be the one for you.
I really enjoyed reading this. The first half of the book was amazing. I went through so many emotions, felt connected and invested in Thursday’s character and flew through the pages desperately wanting to see where it was going. For my first Tarryn Fisher book it certainly did put me through the wringer.
As compulsive as the reading was, I felt the ending to be a huge disappointment. Yes, I liked the twist, but it felt so rushed and left an overall lackluster feeling. This for me destroyed what was easily heading towards a 5 star read.
I do however look forward to reading more from Tarryn Fisher in the future.
This was a unique book that left me feeling all kinds of wrong because the husband had so many lives!
A twisty, fast-paced thriller that I couldn’t put down.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy of this book.
Have seen this book over Instagram for a while and forgot I had it on Netgalley!
Apart from knowing the title I didnt know anything else about this book.
This book is about a man who has 3 wives and we are told the story from one of the wives points of view, 'Thursday'.
From the beginning I could not understand Thursday, she was jealous of 'Monday' and 'Tuesday' but her relationship with Seth was not normal and it made her into a paranoid mess and I did not like her!
However as the story went on you came to realise why she was like she was and you definitely knew something wasnt quite right with her life and relationship!
However I did feel sorry for her, her parents weren't supportive and she didnt really have any real friends, she just wanted to be loved.
I knew something wasnt right but didnt see the twists coming or what they were going to be, it kept me gripped and wanting to read more! Was a quick read for me as had to know what was going to happen next!!
It reminded me a lot of The Girl on the Train, started off slow but then got more suspenseful as it went on!
Really liked the ending, felt it was karma for being wronged!
A must read thriller!
This started well, got confusing mid way through and ended on a belter!
It goes to show that love and life is never really as it seems and you never truly know what is happening behind closed doors.
Did not see that ending coming really enjoyed this book was engrossed from the beginning twists and turns some dark but they work well together in this book look forward to reading more from this author
This book had me gripped immediately. It went down routes I didn’t expect and I had no idea what was real and what was fantasy.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I did enjoy this one I liked the characterisation and the thrills and suspense throughout . It’s not my favourite book but it’s is enjoyable and worth a read.
if i hadn't looked at the cover, i would have been convinced not only that the author wasn't a woman, but that they had never met one
I must admit, the concept of this book had me feeling slightly doubtful as to whether I would enjoy it....but it certainly changed that opinion quickly.
I enjoyed the storyline and the interactions between the characters, and the twists and turns kept you engrossed throughout.
An enjoyable book which is well worth a read.
Thursday is married to Seth but only gets to see him once a week as he has two other wives, Monday and Tuesday. She isn’t happy with this situation at all! This seems to be a Marmite kind of book, you either love it or hate it and I fall into the first category. For ages Thursday is searching for the other two ladies and then suddenly the book lurches in a completely new direction and it’s from then on you have to keep your wits about you. Such a mad book that my head is still reeling from all the goings on, who is telling the truth or even just a part of it and even now I’m not sure. If this is how Tarryn Fisher writes then I must read more of her books!
Oh my goodness! When I started reading this book I wasn't so sure - the idea of it made me feel so-so, but when I had got a little way into it I realised what compulsive reading it had become! I carried on reading it much later after I should have gone to sleep, then finished it off the next morning. What suspense the author created! Full marks to the author for this - I don't like long blurb immediately after the title, and I take issue with 'the sexiest thriller' - not at all how I would have described it. The cover was put together by someone who hadn't read the book, which is a slight niggle, as is 'sexiest', but the book itself is a great read, it drags you in and you won't stop reading until it is finished.
This is the first Tarryn Fisher novel I have read and let's just say I wasn't disappointed. This book had me engaged from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down.
I loved the twists and didn't see them coming. Very clever plot line with well developed characters and plenty of suspense.
Quick and easy to read I would recommend this book to fans of thrillers and to those who like an unusual story that looks at the taboo subjects of plural marriage and psychosis.
I will definitely be looking to read more from this author.
