I've got to say I loved the majority of this book! Tarryn always delivers when it comes to psychological thriller/mystery but in my opinion this over delivered.. it was everything I wanted it to be and more... apart from the ending but I'll get to that.
I'll admit the mixed reviews had me pushing it down my TBR pile for a few weeks but I'm so so glad I finally gave it a go!
It's a bit like a car crash book, you can't look away and at times it didnt have a clue where the story was going which I really found intriguing. The characters were developed brilliantly, some likeable some not so much.
I really enjoyed the unreliable narrative that played with yoir head and raised questions constantly and the constant twists and turns made it all the more readable.
The only downside... the ending... it just didnt sit right with me and I'm not 100% sure why. It just got a bit too 'weird'... I like weird but sometimes theres a little overkill.
4*
Many thanks to netgalley and HQ for the ARC.
I left my review a few days after finishing this novel as I'm still struggling to make my mind up. The premise had me gripped but I felt the novel lost track a little within the first part of the book. It really picked up for me midway through but I was disappointed by the ending. However, it was fast-paced and I liked the writing style.
I was really looking forward to reading this book having seen it all over social media.
Could you imagine sharing your husband? Why would they? Yes Seth is attractive, successful but could you imagine sharing your husband?
The wives have never met and have no contact, until the second wife stumbles on some information about wife number three and tracks her down.
It’s hard to review without giving away the plot but it was a rollercoaster of a ride as I tried to figure out the characters, was wife number two being manipulated or was she the manipulator? Was she mentally ill, was she being controlled by her husband? It was one of those books you can’t put down because you just have to find out! Twisty, turning and a great read, the first I have read by this author and I can’t wait to read more.
I expected so much more from this book, the first half was very promising but then it took a bit of a weird turn and left me feeling disappointed.
A really cleverly written book that I flew through!
This is such a complicated story and one that is incredibly intriguing. The concept is like nothing I've read before and I enjoyed it from the off.
Seth Ellington spends his working week split between Oregon and Seattle, juggling the two offices of his hugely successful construction business. But behind closed doors, Seth is also juggling relationships with his three wives. That's right... Three! But when his second wife stumbles across some information about one of his other anonymous wives, she finds herself digging for more information about the women she shares her husband with.
This is an extremely enjoyable book! The short chapters leave you itching for more and will have you still reading hours after you should've put it down and gone to bed!! The Wives is a rollercoaster ride of marital twists, turns, shocks and surprises that will have your interest piqued and your jaw dropping!
It's hard to come up with a review that doesn't spoil the major reveals in this book. I could see this being a major TV series like Big Little Lies. The way in which the truth of Seth's relationship with his wives is revealed is clever and chaotic to the point I struggled to put this down because I just needed know what Seth was up to! Very highly recommended, I hope everyone enjoys The Wives as much as I did.
Thank you to NetGalley, Tarryn Fisher and HQ for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve been so looking forward to reading this book after seeing some good reviews on it.
It started really well for me and I did think the storyline was really good to begin with, and I very easily got drawn into the book, and the characters with their back stories. But then sadly, for me personally, it just seemed to loose its way. It became a little bit as though it was dragging on and at times a bit repetitive of information we’d already learnt about the characters, and it just wasn’t hitting the spot for me. There were also parts towards the end as the story was being explained that just weren’t believable no matter how much you used your imagination. I really didn’t like how this story ended, it just didn’t seem right, and for me, it felt like a “cop out” ending to what could have potentially been a fantastic ending!
The Wives
Wow what an adventure! This is an absolutely roaring ride! I literally could not put it down after the first few chapters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book...and I read it in 2 sittings!
I did not see that twist coming...or any of the twists in fact & Tarryn Fisher has to be fully commended for that.
However I wanted to read the book before the twist ...the one after was a bit too messy for my liking although very enjoyable nonetheless.
There isn't much I can say about this book without spoiling it...everything including the name of the main character is a revelation and a shock & as that's such a huge part of the enjoyment...I really don't want to risk ruining it.
I didn't love the ending & with so many twists...there was a couple there at the end that was almost too much. Ultimately the abrupt ending wasn't quite what I hoped for.
However, it's very rare that a book can surprise you so much and this one truly did. Tarryn Fisher's writing is taut and intriguing...I will definitely be reading her other books!
All I can say is read this...it will surprise you, you will enjoy it & you will definitely want to discuss it!
Thanks to the publishers & Netgalley for a copy of this book in return for a honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley, Tarryn Fisher and the publisher HQ for giving me the oppertunity to read this book.
What have I just read? This is the first book by Tarryn afisher that I have read and I dont think that it will be my last either.
I cant get this out of my head just yet it has messed with my brain somewhat but in a good way.... I think. I sort of worked out the ending but I wasnt too sure, so I liked the way I kept changing my mind.
This is a very twisted read but one that I would recommend.
The Wives is one heck of a twisty read!!
I have not heard of Tarryn Fisher before but the premise sounded good so I gave it a go and I am definitely not disappointed and will be looking out for the next one!!
Thursday is married to Seth but he is a polygamist and has two other wives, Monday and Tuesday, it was until two thirds of the way through this book that I realised she was called Thursday as the other two are called that because that’s when Seth sees them. One day Thursday snaps and wants to find out about the other two wives. This book completely turns on its head but in a really, really good way. It had me hooked from the very first page and it did not let up once. This was a book that didn’t let up the pace and got better and better and twister the more you read. I’m not going into the storyline as I think this needs reading with no prior knowledge to get the full effect.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HQ for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
At first this didn't seem like a thriller, although it pulled me in from the start, but once it got going I was hooked. I stayed up till 3am to finish! Thursday (I didn't actually realise that was her real name until quite a way through the book) is married to Seth who is a polygamist. She shares him with his other two wives - Monday and Tuesday. One day something snaps and Thursday decides to track down the other two. What happens next I couldn't have predicted. For most of the book I didn't know what was real and who was making things up. A good twist and an engrossing read. #netgalley #TheWives
A compelling page-turner. Although I found the novel rather trashier than I expected in some ways, I couldn't put it down. I wanted to find out exactly what was going on here.
On the face of it, the basis of the story was so bizarre that I couldn't imagine anyone going along with such an arrangement. There had to be more behind it.
There was! And, dear reader, if you want to find out more, you'll have to read it for yourself!
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC.
This book has twists and turns from the very beginning. Nobody is who they seem and people are pushed to their limits. I could not of predicted most of the events. You need to read the book to appreciate how good it is..
An unusual psychological thriller with many twists and turns. The story was a bit far fetched and none of the characters were particularly likeable or believable. A decent read to switch off with in these strange times.
I always find psychological thrillers quite difficult to review mostly because their success for the reader is better if they know as little as possible about what is actually happening between the pages before diving in. That, of course, makes it tricky for me when there are things I want to say but don’t want to spoil it for other readers.
The blurb is of course what piqued my interest in this book, it’s hard not to want to know what Thursday finds out about Seth in that unusual scenario. One thing I can tell you with ease is that I managed this book in two sittings and the only reason I had to put it down was because my kindle died on me. It really is that kind of story that you find difficult to leave behind once you get into it.
There was one point I found myself starting to get a little bit disappointed, I won’t go into too much detail but I felt like for such a strong start it was becoming something I had read before. The originality was being replaced by tried and tested and felt, in all honesty, a bit lazy, I was hoping for something that had matched what came before. Obviously, I stuck with it because even though I was feeling that way this book has somewhat of an addictive quality that keeps you wanting more the further you delve into the story.
I’m glad I did stick with it because the author did manage to pull it back and deliver an ending that gave me a few well-delivered unpredictable thrills and left me with a bit of a book hangover. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a thriller that will consume you for a day or two and leave your heart pounding at the end.
I really didn’t get along with this story at all. It seemed far fetched and was hard to follow. I made it to 25% before giving up.

Holy crap, what did I just read?!
This book has just totally put my head in a blender and turned it on without the lid on!
Started off like a pretty 'normal' psychological thriller and I was rrally getting into the story, but then about halfway in, the accelerator was stamped on and brakes decided to stop working!
I can't actually decide at the moment whether or not I liked it, but I will most definitely not forget it!
I haven't read anything by this author before but the description made it sound really interesting.
The book doesn't disappoint and you are hooked in to a quandary of different emotions as you join Thursdays journey through love and the questions can you love someone too much and why does she love him as she does?
Lots of twists and turns. Lots of emotions.
A great read with the ultimate twist,
My first book by this author, but not my last! This book is original with many twists and turns that you don't see coming - and even up to the end you don't know who to believe. The 'wives' are interesting and well described, each having their own life to protect! Thursday has rather too many near misses when she is driving for my liking and towards the end there is the sentence 'During my last week in ... (don't want to spoil anything) but with the ending how can it be??!!
Definitely a page turner but one or two flaws for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Tarryn Fisher/HQ for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

So many mixed feelings about this book.
I liked parts of it and was on the edge for many moments but somehow, overall, the feeling is that some people are too much in a good way but mostly in a bad way. I’m guessing that’s what made me keep reading because the author created a not so usual world in this story and the characters are quite an interesting mix.
I must admit that it’s my first book by the author but I’m going to read more because her writing is very good and it keeps you wanting more and more.
This is a story with many twists. I was not totally convinced by it. It started off as a gripping read and turned dark and less convincing towards the end.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
