Good book, didn’t keep me riveted but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I like the writing style so will read more from this author

Unfortunately this just wasn’t for me. It started out with great promise but then went off in a completely different direction. I found there to be a number of plot holes and the overall execution just got real messy. The characters are either horrible or two dimensional at best. Towards the end it just got confusing and about 100 pages we’re just unnecessary. As soon as I started to realise where this was heading I really hoped I was wrong but alas, the ending was the exact thing I was hoping the author would avoid. This was a really disappointing read for me.
Thanks Netgalley & HQ.

Oh how different was this book; a fabulous easy but gripping story, I just wanted to keep reading to see what happened to the most realistic characters. You start thinking one thing but its not what you think, Great read and one definitely worth having. Never read from this author before but will certainly look out for another.

The first half of this book was really pacy and gripping. A woman meets her husband every Thursday, and on the other days he meets his two other wives in another city. However, when she finds a way to contact one of them, it all begins to unravel.
The second half is darker, and without giving anything away, the reader is swung in sympathy between the characters as events rollercoaster along.
Interesting, disturbing, possibly not very plausible - or is it? Dramatic and a gripping read.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was lucky enough to get sent a copy of ‘The Wives’, Tarryn Fisher’s new release, before its publication date, in exchange for an honest review 🤓📚
I’ve been feeling incredibly conflicted for the past few days before writing this review, and it’s taken me a wee while longer to pinpoint my thoughts. .
The first half of ‘The Wives’ was amazing, it was fast-paced, compulsively readable, with such a compelling writing style. I was sure fire convinced this book was really gonna do it for me, and I’d fall in fucked up thriller love. I WAS SO EXCITED. Key word here ‘was’.
And then there was a sudden change in direction, and from the beginning of the second half onwards... it wasn’t on the same level. I basically lost the desire to continue reading. Oh boy. The main character Thursday became a total head melt and problematic, i got tired of her shit, there was a lot of plot holes, a twist which felt quite similar to ‘and then I woke up and it was all a dream’. It just felt rushed and slightly lazy, leaving me feeling really let down as I just loved how great the first half was !!!! .
BUT despite these negatives for me, I would still heavily recommend reading for the style of writing. Tarryn Fisher has an amazing way with words, it’s totally engrossing. A perfect little trashy read to pass a few days in lockdown, a bit like a tinder hook-up.

I didn't know what to expect from this book, but I certainly didn't expect what I got. An amazing story. So good that I read it in one sitting. Polygamy doesn't work.
Loved it.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I read an advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.

No my usual type of read Nd I was a bit out off with the first chapter, however, once the story started to unfold I soon found my self wanting to know more. It got to the point where I couldn't put it down. What a wonderful read.

Where do I begin .. Thursday is married to Sett .. but so are Monday and Tuesday !!! Yip this book is one roller coaster of a ride of sheer craziness .. totally loved it’😂😂..

Initially I struggled with this story. Too early to make assumptions I moved from what appeared a trite scenario into a complex story of wives acceptance to share a husband, each allocated a day yet knowing very little or next to nothing of the other wives. Skilfully we move to natural curiosity where subterfuge will not only supply answers but will rock the very foundations of this situation. Moving along at great speed, nothing is what it appears, and. we the reader are thrust into an infinitely more complex and dangerous game than could have been imagined. An excellent unexpected conclusion that totally tied up all loose ends whilst leaving us satisfied that this author had delivered an unusual and original story.

****Review****
Good plot-line ending had me surprised.
Although the story plot-line was interesting and gripping the flow of the writing was broken for me, I kept being forced out of the story but the spelling and wordings. I did enjoy the story and found it interesting and unique. I also found myself hating Thursdays in some parts but also hoping she would succeed.
It still surprises me what the brain is capable of.
Thank you to Netgalley/ Tarryn Fisher/ HQ for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I expected to. Seth and Thursday were both unlikeable characters. The plot echoed other books I have read along smiliar themes. The ending was pretty good. Three stars. With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review a free a-ARC of this book.

This book really had me guessing and it's a proper twisty turny thriller. I thought the subject matter was very original, the characters are fabulous and there's a really good plot twist. I'd never read anything by this author before, but I'm excited to read more of her work.

Honestly I do not know whether I loved or hated this book...
At first I was just about ready to give up on it, then BAM it got interesting and held me tight until almost the end, which then felt a little flat to me.
There are definitely some great points in this book

This book was a little up and down for me. There were parts of it I really enjoyed, and got engaged with the plot but then other times I found it really hard to stay interested. I wasn't keen on Thursday and Seth - I found the situation as it originally seems a bit far fetched. There are some deep themes in this and definitely some good elements of a domestic thriller. Reading can be so subjective and The Wives just fell short of a 4 * recommendation for me because I found it too easy to put down.

I really enjoyed this book! A great story line that kept me hooked and excellent main characters. I would highly recommend this book.

This was a book with a very original idea and part way through I thought it was going to follow a story line that I imagined could happen, Thursday murders the two other wives and then discovers that they weren't actually married to her husband after all, or even knew him. Further integrated plot avenues would follow. However the theme went a totally different wayone that was very hard to believe. I think we were supposed to be shocked that the main female character was called Thursday, as this was the day she spent with her polygamous husband. but Instead I thought it was a weak aspect of the story and quite bizarre, I know some women are called January or April or May but not Monday, Tuesday etc, so this was a big downer for me and not the revelation that I think the author hoped for.. I did read ithe book until the end and enjoyed it while at the same time accepting that it was far too larger than life and pretty unbelievable as it reached its conclusion.. Shame as i thought it had promise.

A twisted mystery which lacked a little something, characters I found difficult to like and an ending I couldng help feeling let down by. It promised more

I'm sure this is a great thriller for many, but it was not the story I was looking for, I didn't enjoy the twist and the conclusion that rounded up the full book and it wasn't thrilling enough for me as a thriller reader.

I quite enjoyed this domestic thriller but the ending was a big let down for me.
This is a domestic thriller about, whose husband has mutiple wives but she has never met anyone of them. But then she decides to track them down and finds out that one has bruises on her arms, is her husband an abuser?
I really liked the writing style of this book. I found it really engaging and it was very fast paced. It definitely kept me hooked while reading.
There was a lot of action, so I was never bored while reading.
This was going to be a 4 star read but unfortunately the ending ruined it for me. I didn't think it was handled well.
It's hard to say what I didn't like about it without giving any spoilers.
However, I wasn't very keen on how this book handled mental health. The ending was frustrating.
It was a shame because I did like it and was quite surprised because I've heard quite negative reviews, if only the ending was different...
TW: miscarriage and domestic abuse

At the beginning it would have funny if it hadn’t been sad. Then a few doubts creep in and then it is ramped up to become a bit scary, scary and very scary. Lots of twists and turns and I didn’t foresee the end. A very good psychological thriller going from nothing to full on
