I liked this book even better than the first one in the series. Cade and Iris are such quirky characters in the best way possible. There is so much humanity in this story.
I have enjoyed all of Penelope Bloom’s object series and after first reading Anyone but Rich, I looked forward to getting to know Cade better. Cade is the typical zany character/brother I have to come to love from Penelope Bloom. Even when he is trying to be sincere, he follows it up with snark and humor. One thing he isn’t laughing about is coming home to West Valley and feeling all the feels he had in high school towards Iris. Iris is now a police officer and although she is feeling it too, she puts up a fight with herself and Cade. Enter Bear and the two of them find themselves working and living together to adapt to the quick changes. I loved Cade and his humor, and Iris could certainly keep up!!! Iris knows there is a good man underneath the laughs and she finally gets him out and we all swoon!! Can’t wait for the final brother Nick’s story!!!
Let just say I stalked my email and Netgalley for this book (book 2 in the Anyone but... series)
Anyone but Cade was AMAZING! I devoured this book way to fast! I just couldn't stop! The storyline and characters were on point and I'm hooked on this series!!!
This is my first time reading Penelope Bloom, and I enjoyed this funny, lighthearted romantic comedy. I would have loved it more, but I wasn't able to connect with Cade's character as much as I would have liked. It was hard to buy into him being a successful and famous billionaire. This may seem odd, but I feel like the cover is partly to blame for this. It presents the story as much more serious, and I think I went into the story with different expectations and wasn't able to suspend my disbelief. It was still entertaining, and I look forward to reading more from Bloom.
This is the first book by this author that I have read and I liked it. Quick, fun read. Second chance romance about Cade and Iris. They dated in high school and Cade made a huge mistake that had consequences for Iris. Fast forward 7 years later, Cade has to come back to town because he finds out that he is a father to a little boy. He turns to Iris for help and she agrees. This helps them grow closer and for him to show that he has changed.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Anyone but Cade is the second book in the Anyone but series. While I enjoyed Cade and Iris, Anyone but Rich (book 1) is still my favorite so far. While this is book 2 in a series, you didn’t have to read book 1 to follow along. The author gives a good recap to catch you up to speed.
Many years ago, Iris and her 2 friends made a pact on a hillside that none of them would ever get involved with the King brothers. After each of them had developed friendships with one or more of the brothers and ended up screwed by them (and not in a good way).
Cade and Iris were thick as thieves back in the day until he cost her everything. Now she is a police officer in their hometown when Cade and his brothers come back to town to start a new branch of their company. Will she honor the pact?
Cade hasn’t forgotten Iris, no in many ways he is the driving force to get them back to their hometown. Why, he isn’t entirely sure. Is he trying to right a wrong? Convince Iris to date again? He is hoping something will become clear in the direction he is supposed to navigate. But an unexpected situation finds him needing her help. Can he convince Iris that he genuinely needs her?
Cade is a snarky businessman that is lacking any kind of grown up behavior normally attributed to a grownup. Which is exactly how Iris remembers him. Whether that is a good thing or bad, we’ll soon find out.
Cade and Iris navigate some old patterns and new situations brought on not only by their past and her new partner on the force but life in general. Can they go back to the smoothness that was their relationship? When Cade’s well being is threatened, will Iris throw in the towel.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy provided by the publisher without expectations. All opinions expressed are my own. 4 stars for the latest in this series, Nick is up next and
Cade is someone who doesn’t take much seriously and always makes light of situations to hide what he truly feels and tends to act first and think second. When he was in high school he make a mistake with Iris, his girlfriend, and years later they are still estranged.
Although Iris hasn’t had much luck with men she enjoys her career as a police officer and she has a great relationship with two best friends Kira and Miranda. Cade has returned to town after being away for years and it doesn’t take long for him to turn her life upside down once again.
When Cade finds out that he is a father Iris steps in to help both him and his son adjust to their new normal. Has Cade changed since high school and will this be their second chance or is he still the same person that doesn’t consider the consequences of his actions?
Cade and Iris are very different but balance each other perfectly. Not only will their interactions have you laughing out loud but the great ensemble of secondary characters definitely enhance the story.

I was not able to connect with this story. It's my first by this author, and I know she is popular, so I am sure I will try another title by her, but this one wasn't a winner for me.
I didn't believe the characters, and the dialogue seemed...off. I have spent a lot of time with a lot of different people, and at first I was struck by how off the book felt...until I realized that both the women and the men seemed to have identical internal dialogue. And, the women spoke in the way I think men *think* women talk...and the men spoke in the same way.
So, this one didn't work for me.
This is the second book in the rom-com Anyone But... series. Cade is the second King brother to successfully get a second chance at love. If you've read Anyone but Rich, you'll remember three friends-Iris, Miranda, and Kira make a promise to have nothing to do with the King brothers, who have recently moved the headquarters of their business from the city back to their small hometown. Cade is a total free spirit, uses humour for all occasions, and can be quite silly. Iris, who had good reason to cut Cade from her life seven years ago, is now a cop. The two have a pull similar to orbiting planets and are obviously comfortable with each other. I loved the way Cade, who can be annoyingly immature, steps up to being the best person for five year old Bear. I liked that Iris really needed Cade's silliness to lighten her character a bit. He brought fun to her life. Although the plot moved a bit slowly in the beginning, the meddling of Cade's parents and subsequent events made up for the start. A good read.
I received a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.
Another great instalment to this series, I loved the first book Anyone but Rich and this is just as good as the first book. We return to familiar characters and this time to Cade and Iris’s story, full of chemistry and humour, the kind of book that’s an easy read but very addictive too. It’s fun and flirty and can’t wait for the next I’m assuming anyone but nick ! A great read.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Cade was flippant and rarely serious that it took awhile to really think he’s serious about Iris. And Bear. Who’s cute and improved my outlook on Cade he stepped up in his own way. And got me rooting for him rest of the way.
Thanks Montlake Romance, Seattle for the arc of this book.
Same as the first book in the series, this story has everything from funny moments to heartbreak ones.
I enjoyed a bit more this one than the first book though. I laughed more and as Cade was always more of The King Buffoon was difficult to see him more serious but everyone has a different side of them to show when they want something really bad.
Let’s see what the next book brings on.
Wonderful story from start to finish, the characters are likeable and interesting.
I received a copy from Netgalley and i am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
I was excited for this book after reading Anyone But Rich, I can honestly say I was hoping for more from Cade, he’s too much of a joker and needs to be more serious. With that said I did really like Cade and Iris’s story. These two have some history and their relationship did not end well. When she and Miranda and Kira made a pact to stay away from the King brothers forever, she had no idea that when they all decided to move back to town they would interact as much as they have. Iris is doing her best to stay at a distance but Cade keeps drawing her in and when he gets a call that would change his life forever, he reaches out to Iris for help. Can Iris keep her distance and stick to the pact the girls made or will Cade win back the only woman he's ever loved? I guess you will need to read for yourself to see what happens. I suggest reading ANyone But Rich first to understand everything. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to.
4.25⭐
Anyone But Cade was a genuinely enjoyable and fun story. With entertaining characters in Cade and Iris, who possessed a wonderful charm and appeal. Although, I felt they were both missing a little of that humour and snark, I so enjoyed in Anyone But Rich.
But with the introduction of Bear, who I adored and who really brought out the best in Cade and Iris. This truly was a great second chance romance. Plus, there's no denying it was a fun, easy, sweet and at times sexy story. That easily kept me entertained and I certainly enjoyed it a good deal more than Anyone But Rich, and so, I Would happily recommend it to others.
I am so glad I didn't have to wait too long to get Cade's book. Out of all of the brothers, he is my favorite. Who doesn't love a silly, sarcastic, over confident, big teddy bear? That totally sums up Cade. I knew his story was going to be fun.
I laughed so hard from time to time in this book. But, it's not just a funny book. The funny is a side effect of the characters in this book.
I wasn't expecting the story itself. I didn't know what to expect to bring these two characters together, but I would not have expected this storyline. Maybe I should have. It was definitely a fun ride for me to take with these characters. I can't wait for the next one!
Anyone but Cade is a hilarious second-chance chance romp!
Cade is one of those guys that can always find fun and humor in a situation. He is quick-witted, fast with a joke and innuendo, and great delivery. He dated Iris in high school, but he just wasn't mature enough to keep her then, and Iris and her friends swore off the King Brothers for life.
Seven years later, the King Brothers return to town. In the first book of this series, we see Kira and Rich get together, so the King Brothers embargo is clearly no longer in effect.
Iris has grown up a lot, and she still sees Cade as the same immature, irresponsible jokester that he was years ago. Even worse, he has people to do everything from cook to clean, now, so he's still immature and self-centered. Until.... well, no spoilers here.
Let's just say Cade turns to Iris for help, and she agrees to help him. They develop a new relationship, and Cade finally does grow up into the man that Iris wants him to be. Their relationship seems genuine, there is a lots of humor, and this book really shows growth in the characters.
Cade's cleverness is completely entertaining. I don't remember reading a character that would make me roll my eyes and smile at the same time as much as he does. He has an ability to drain you and exhaust you but at the same time you have to admire his commitment to everything that comes out of his mouth. I have never read a character like him. He is THAT unique. And THAT adorable. The way he handles Bear is just swoon worthy.
But don't think he is a lost cause destined to be a party starter bachelor. Iris is a great match for him. She can give as good as she takes. And most importantly she can see under his facade and deflective strategies. She also has a bit of a wild side to her. Not as much as he does though so as much as she tries, there is no way to fight against the current when it comes to Cade. With him is always better to give in.
This is the second book int his great fun series and though each book is about a seperate couple do yourself a favour and read Anyone but Rich as well you won't be disappointed
Many years before Iris dated Cade King at school and to say it didn't end well would be an understatement The guy was walking talking laugh a minute fun guy who delivered his one liners with such aplomb that half the time it took a while to register exactly what he said. But he broke her heart and walked away So she and her two best friends made a pact they would never date a King brother ever again no matter what happened in the future that turned out to be fairly easy as their family left the town soon after. Now seven years later the King brothers self made billionaires have brought their business back to the town they grew up in and intend to open their corporate headquarters there. Iris is now a local cop but Cade has never grown up yes he is responsible at work but his home life is fully catered to by his wealth, Can too people so different and with such a damaged past find common ground and will they find out that they really are still attracted to one another and can't walk away this time You will have to read to see
