I adore Jodi Ellen Malpas. However, I did not adore this. Compared to what we've come to know and love when we dive into one of her stories, this fell short.
This book was the oddest of contradictions. I felt like it dragged in places, and yet really it felt rushed. Hannah and Ryan were loved up in a 2 week span. I know its fiction, but I would like to feel as though it's at least the slightest bit believable.
Nothing wrong with the book, just not a favourite for me.
3 stars!
Leave Me Breathless is a run of the mill romance. Not very original but pleasant enough. I found some of the dialogue quite cheese - especially Ryan’s - but Hannah is likeable and sympathetic.
I have read all of JEM’s books and, unfortunately, none of them are comparable to the This Man series. If this book had not been written by JEM, I would have stopped reading halfway through.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
She’s done it again. How does Jodi do it. Here is the 8 book that I’ve read that JEM has written and I certainly was not disappointed.
There’s the hunk Ryan ex protection officers had enough of doing that and putting himself in danger and returns to his home in Hampton . Where he is hopeful of a quieter life.
The lady- Hannah has recently moved into Hampton and is an artist. She is finding her feet within the local community and has opened a shop selling her art.
.
Two people from 2 very different backgrounds who are destined to collide (I mean literally!!)
.
One evening while driving Ryan accidentally knocks Hannah off her bike. Lucky Hannah isn’t too badly injured. But that sets off the torch paper between them both.
.
Is Hannah ready for Ryan ?
What could she be hiding?
Is there something she isn’t telling anyone.
.
I read this over 2 days finishing it in the wee early hours. But it was worth it.
.
The more I read about Hannah the more I could hear myself pleading to her. The deeper I got into the book the more I felt I really couldn’t predict which way it was going to go??
Would the truth be exposed or not.
.
I found it really refreshing that the book wasn’t just about sex it was so much more than that.
Keep the, coming JEM
Thank you to both NetGalley and Orion Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest unbiased review
I tried with this book.....I really really did- but I was just so bored.
For me JEM hasnt pulled off a story since Jesse of this man- and I tried taking a break from her stories completely- this is the first one of hers I've read since the forbidden- but its a DNF- Hannah and Ryan are made for each other as they're both dull as ditchwater.
I ditched it at 44%- so in my personal opinion- I really did try my best
I wont be picking up any more JEM books
Leave me breathless, this book definitely did, nothing makes me happier than finding a new author that I can binge read from. Jodi is definitely an author I am going back to her back catalogue to devour now. I was hooked from the first page and I just adored this book, the story, the characters, everything is just perfect.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Let me start with, I adore Jodi Ellen Malpas - her books have always been my favourites - stuff Christian Grey you need to meet Jodie's Men.
She writes men you fall head over heels passionately in love with and Ryan is literally no different, i am obsessed with him. Oh boy! I need more.
But not only that, Jodi also writes wonderful women that are awesome, i loved Hannah - she is dealing with issues, ones that affect her deeply - but you still wanted to get to know her.
I loved the scenes where she was drinking wine and letting herself go, i was chuckling - i could imagine myself sitting alongside her.
Then theres Alex - a smart mouthed wonderful kid who adores her dad.
Ryan wants to know Hannahs secrets and keep her safe but after a life working in protection can he do that?
This book is one of the best i have read this year, i want to re read it already so i can spend more time with Ryan. I dont want to give too much away but if you want a to fall head over heels and develop a new love for chunky monkey ice cream then read this like yesterday!
Hannah Bright moves from place to place, never staying for too long, and never opening up. But now she's moved to Hampton, a small village in the Peak District, and it seems that Hannah's careful life is about to implode. because Hannah hasn't counted on meeting Ryan Willis.
When the two of them collide - quite literally - nothing is ever going to be the same again. But just who or what is Hannah running from? And can Ryan keep her safe if she stays?
Well, Jodi Ellen Malpas has written another cracker of a romance novel with 'leave Me Breathless'. Both characters come with baggage, both are lost in their own way, and both have much to lose, and I loved how the author developed that throughout the book. I also loved that we got to see more of Jake and Cami from the Protector, and how their lives have changed since their own story.
This is a must for any romance readers - well written, well paced, and about as passionate as it gets - Jodi Ellen Malpas is definitely one of the brightest stars writing in the romance world for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, who provided me with a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As with every other book this lady has written this is amazing.
A brilliant storyline with fantastic characters that will keep you turning the pages and you just won't want it to end.
5* read
This is an amazing book full of so many emotions that I ended up crying with everything that Hannah had gone through. Ryan works in security and decides to quit and go back home to the Hampton to live and spend time with his daughter. Hannah has a past that is full of secrets and she decides to go and live in the Hampton and open a art shop. Ryan and Hannah meet when Ryan knocks her of her bike and he intrigued by her and knows that she is hiding something, Hannah has a instant connection and chemistry with Ryan that scares her so much that she vows to stay away from him. There are twists and turns, intrigue, danger and so many emotions. Will Ryan find out Hannah's secrets and can he keep her safe. This is the first book that I have read by Jodi but definitely not the last as I couldn't put this book down or turn the page's fast enough to see what happened next and I became addicted to reading it. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed.
As usual blown away by this story.
Brilliantly written , keeps you wanting more. Brilliant story with a suprise around every corner.Kinda of hoping for a second part.
Hight recommend
4.5 stars!
I received an ARC for this book through Netgalley and I was so excited that I started reading it as soon as I had finished my current read! I have to start by saying that I didn't know that this was book was a prequel to The Protector because I didn't read the synopsis lol! I read The Protector last year and absolutely loved it, so this made me even more excited for this book! After reading, I can say that I loved this book a lot! The plot had me intrigued as soon as I started reading and it kept me desperate to read on and find out what was going to happen next! There was also plenty of romance in the plot and it was developed at the perfect pace and allowed for some seriously hot scenes between the two main characters! There was a bit of action and suspense as well, but I wish that it had lasted a bit longer, especially the big scene near the end! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Ryan was the main male character, and he was a secondary character in The Protector, so I was excited that this book was his! I love Ryan in this book and he was seriously hot! There were some secrets revealed that I wasn't expecting as well, but it told me a lot about the kind of guy Ryan was! It was also easy to see how much Ryan cared about his love interest and he was protective of her and wanted her to be safe! Hannah was the main female character and love interest of Ryan! I loved Hannah a lot in this book! It was easy to see that she was running from something, but it did take a bit of the book to find out what she was running from! I did feel for Hannah once I found out because she was treated horribly! Hannah also lost time with her family, which was very sad, but I also understood why she stayed away! She did come a long way in this book though! This book was written from both Ryan and Hannah's point of views, which I loved! I was kind of expecting this book to be written from dual point of view because the synopsis gives the impression that it's going to be and the prequel book was written this way as well! It helped me connect and understand Ryan and Hannah more, which was a good thing as they were both going their own things! Both characters also spent some of the plot apart, so it allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well! I'm really sad that this book is a standalone! I would love to read more on Ryan and Hannah, but I can also completely understand why it is a standalone! The ending was left at the perfect place and it summed up their relationship beautifully! I also have to be honest and say that I'm not really a fan of the UK cover for this book, but I absolutely love the US cover! I think it suits the book more and would appeal to me more if I saw it sitting on a shelf! The cover image/models are also perfect for Ryan and Hannah!
Yet again Jodi has released another amazing read!!!
I love her characters, her words and just love her in general.
In her stories it's normally the Hero who's broken but this time it's the Heroine who's broken.
I love when that happens because it's the Hero who has to help fix them.
I love Ryan and Hannah so much. This book is definitely a new fave of mine from Jodi. Xx
I didn't enjoy this book. I found it very hard to get into and found it annoying that to give a convincing male POV the author felt the need to have the hero swear constantly.
The story was unoriginal and predictable. I felt like it had copied numerous films with the same plotline.
Leave me breathless is a brilliant beautiful story that will infact leave the reader breathless, with a great start we reconnect with Jake from The Protector and Ryan an ex MI5 agent now working in private protection. After the job they are on ends Ryan decides it’s time for him to leave this type as work and he returns to his cabin in the woods of a sleepy village. He has a connection there as his 10yr old daughter Alex lives there with her mother, a woman Ryan detests after what she put him through in the past. Alex is a wonderful funny character with witty dialogue and sparky personality.
Ryan literally bumps into Hannah whilst out in his truck when he knocks her off her bicycle. Hannah has moved to the village and opened an art shop, after offering to help her she refuses Ryan’s offer and flees like a startled rabbit, but not without both being attracted to the other.
Hannah has a dark secret which is slowly revealed throughout the book. Ryan is knocked off his socks by the emotions he feels for her never having experienced any like this in all his 39 years. As their relationship develops quickly, deeply and passionately Ryan is determined to discover Hannah’s secrets so he can remove the underlying sadness he sees in her.
This story and the characters grab you instantly and if ever there was such an apt description as ‘page turning’ this is it.
I absolutely loved this book, such a good satisfying read, wonderfully descriptive and evocative it will remain with me for a long time.
My grateful thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
