Loved the principles of this book. Slightly confusing to read due to the layout of the words. Good graphics.
This book uses a fresh and fun new approach to the KonMari method. It will appeal particularly to millennials in people in their twenties and teenagers for whom tidying and decluttering does not come naturally.
So e nice idas that may be useful in a cute manga format to reach a different audience, probably missing the target audience as I’ll never be minimal, but some good hints and tips.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
This is an absolutely brilliant addition to Marie Kondo's books, and would make a really great introduction to her methods of decluttering. The manga tells the story of a young woman, Chiaki, who has a very messy apartment, and who hires Marie Kondo to help her sort it out. Marie's advice is told through the story, and also through occasional text pages.
I've read all of Marie Kondo's books, and this is by far my favourite. Something about the narrative progress and being able to see Chiaki's apartment visibly get cleaner and better looking is really powerful; it is easy to understand how much better things can feel, because you have it literally laid out for you to see on the page. You feel proud of Chiaki as she declutters, and this feels really inspiring that you could do it yourself. You can also see the impact on her as a character, as her expressions, body language, and general demeanour change, showing the benefits Konmari can have on all sides of life, not just your physical space.
I wasn't sure how this book could add to the thorough method laid out in the first book, but what it adds is a sense of joy and 'I can do this', from having it modelled by a (fictional) messy person (it's easy to read the first book and think "but Marie, you *like* tidying up", but here you can see it work on someone who doesn't). It's well-worth a read, and if it doesn't leave you smiling and wanting to sort your own space out, I'll be very surprised!
A lovely Manga full of great ideas told in the Kondo way .I picked up new ideas was charmed and entertained.I will be giving this as a gift. #netgalley#panmacmillan.
I received a copy of the manga in return for an honest review.
The manga was honestly amazing. ✨ After finishing it I felt as though I also wanted to do a deep clean of my entire house and discard all the things that no longer "sparked joy" in my life.
I really liked the idea of presenting all the tips through a story. It made what they said a lot more engaging and I enjoyed seeing all the drawings throughout each chapter. The illustrator did a great job of representing each scene. 👍
Now that I've finished the comic, I feel a little intrigued to check out the Netflix series and her original book.
I'll definitely be able to use Marie Kondo's tips when I tidy up in the future 😊 and overall it's a very motivational, quick read. Would definitely recommend :)

An informative read in the format of a manga to reach a new target audience. I was able to learn a few new lessons which I will be sure to implement the next time I'm tidying up!
This was a cute little graphic novel adaptation of Marie Kondo's book. I liked the pairing of ideas and narrative but it felt a bit flat and contrived. I like how this can be accessible to a wider audience than the original book but the narrative aspect lets it.
