Another music book! I loved this look into the life of Senegalese superstar, Youssou N’Dour. I love Senegalese music so this was an exciting find for me. I learned so much about Senegalese music dating back to the 1960s and added so many new albums to my wishlist. Highly recommend to any music lover.

I requested this book as I am currently taking a West African drumming course and wanted to learn more about African musical traditions about which I know very little. While exhaustively researched, the book was too comprehensive for the beginner to African music and is probably better suited to the passionate aficionado. I did appreciate the playlist the author provided and will seek out the titles she recommends.
