Tries real hard to be a wacky superhero comic and mildly succeeds. It's wacky, just not very funny. Humor can be difficult to obtain in a comic, especially one that's been translated into another language.
Dnfed--unfortunately the book was archived before I was able to read it. However, I will be back with a review if I am able to read the book in the future!
This was a very wacky and high humor comic. I found that the drawing wasn’t for me, but the narrative was okay. The plot was basic, and it felt like a slapstick comic more than an action-packed superhero comic that one expects. That doesn't make it awful; it's just not for me.
This just about had enough to make it entertaining, although if you have a low tolerance for the daftly wacky (as opposed to the smartly wacky) then I'd suggest you not rush here. It's a superhero team-up origins story, as a weird kid in a gimp mask is employed by an alien dog in a space suit to protect the world, and is eventually joined by a lothario cursed to become a huge monster every time he's kissed, and a woman who can set anyone's mind to suicide. The artwork's kind of on the low-brow, too, although this isn't perhaps as gonzo as you're currently imagining. It is however only suitable for a specific audience, and that could be you, but may well not be. Two and something stars.
I'm generally a fan of non-traditional and offbeat superhero narratives so this one should be right up my alley but I'm not sure that I loved it. Maybe too violent, too sarcastic. I couldn't always tell what we were meant to believe was in earnest and what was sarcasm. The tone is a bit nebulous. I didn't fully engage.
What happens when a hyper-intelligent French Bulldog meets up with a super-suit wearing teen, a total bummer of a chick, a millionaire with some serious rage issues, a peeping tom who can travel through your TV and... Dracula? You get a very weird but kind of weirdly adorable graphic novel with a lot of good silly humor and a little T and A tossed in for good measure.
