I'm glad that these stories are being told as this is almost a forgotten branch of WWII conflict. A wonderful, rich, yet sobering read, that I'm glad I spent time with.
This was an interesting way to recount the experiences of these men who found themselves prisoners of the Japanese during WWII. I read the book because I did not know much about the British who served in Hong Kong and were captured. Victor starts with his own father and then he meets the children or the men who also found themselves in the same position. Amazing so many survived.
To be candid, I had high hopes for this book. A detailed report of a Japanese prisoner of war camp during WW II as told by eight British POWs. Sadly, the author simply does not write very well and the entire story was horribly garbled. Skip this book.

A really well researched interesting read. This is a fascinating book about prisoners of War during World War 2 in Japan. It is a very personal collection of events described by these men. It is harrowing in places and hard to read. It is a wonderful tribute to their bravery.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
