While not my favorite of the Crispin Guest novels, this was a good, solid addition to the series., this time in search of King Arthur's sword, Excalibur. There is very good character development in this series...from a bitter, disgraced knight, Crispin has come to grips with his life and become a more thoughtful man than if he had continued in his birthright. Jack has grown from a scruffy little street urchin and thief to a grown man, with responsibilities and a sense of self-worth. I read in the afterword that the author is wrapping up the series, (two more titles to follow?) and while I will be sad to see it end, I applaud her for having a plan and not just ending the series abruptly or simply not writing another title in the series and leaving us all hanging. I look forward to the next Crispin Guest novel, and am grateful to NetGalley and Severn House for the opportunity to read the eARC in return for an honest opinion.
