Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this title. Unfortunately I due to technical difficulties I was unable to download the book so cannot post a review,
A simplified way of learning your chakras. Very middle school textbook like with the bright colors and pictures. I enjoyed but would probably get another book to support the information in here.
I already own the PRESS HERE Reflexology book so I was looking forward to reviewing this book. I love how bright these books illustrations are. They are a pleasure to read. A must have for fans of crystal healing, reiki, chakras and energies.
As I was already familiar with the subject, I found this book a basic yet fun introduction to the chakras.
The book is indeed easy to access and to understand, however I would have personally appreciated more in-depth explanations.
I would recommend this book as a starting point for more researched reads.
I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am quite new to Chakra healing, and this book was so very helpful in my journey. I learned so much and I cannot wait to add this into my daily tasks. Most Chakra healing books I have found, have felt overwhelming and you already need a pretty in-depth knowledge of chakras, but this book helps explain it from a beginners perspective and guides you in the way of inner peace. I have never felt more inline with my chakras. A definite read for any spiritual healers out there!
Thank you kindly to the author, the publisher, and netgalley for this review copy it has been the most helpful!
A nice starting off point for those who have an interest in chakras or a nice addition. More visual on the topics given for each which can be helpful for those who are more visual (and I think chakra learning is more of that). Good book overall.
A good introduction to the subject of chakras and how to work with them. Yes, you can go online and find out about chakras, but many of these articles are not all-rounders that give you something beyond the description of what this and that chakra is and does.
This little book (a delight to peruse, btw, for the quirky layout and pretty colors - fonts could've been a bit bigger, though) goes just enough in depth into the subject so that you have basically what you're searching for and what you need to know about your chakras and how, why, and when to work on/with them. Of course, it doesn't cover everything, but for a start, it is a VERY good little book to delve into this topic.
This was an interesting read but highly repetitive. It is also very simplified so this is definitely for beginners unfamiliar with chakras. In that aspect I feel it's helpful and a good basic aid. If your really serious about the use of chakras you will move through this quickly and will need a more advanced learning aid. It's a good place to start for a nice overview and basic techniques. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. Not knowing anything about chakras, this was a real eye opener for me and I learnt a lot from it. I loved the way it was set out and it was the perfect book to dip in and out of.
I really like the layout of this book. The content was good and concise. Though I might not use this book myself, I know a few people I will gift and recommend it to.
I found this book to be extremely informative. It would be a great choice for yoga instructors, reiki aspirationalists and just your ordinary joe who wants to live a more grounded life.
Press Here! Chakras for Beginners was an enjoyable read for me. Although none of the information presented was new to this reader, I found the layout and instruction very good. As a Reiki Master, chakra work is important and valuable to me for myself and clients. I appreciated the author tying in different treatment modalities to strengthen or correct chakras. Each chakra is presented with a meditation, a reiki treatment area and also crystal correspondents. Although the beginning of this simple book presents as more of a power point like visual screaming for a narrative to enhance the information, I found second half more than makes up for this. If your looking for a good, all around introduction to chakras, this just might be the book for you. Many thanks to Quarto Publishing-Fair Winds Press and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
(Since this book is labeled as a beginner's guide I will try not to be overly critical and take it as it is.)
First of all, the formatting and illustrations are gorgeous, and it's a pleasure to look at. It is what makes the book instantly stand out.
As a practitioner I really expected to read more about reiki positions, besides the information provided about this technique was too simplified and not detailed. I assume it's because what we have here is a short self-help book, but still, it's missing some key points. For example, there were no techniques or meditations for clearing blockages.
I really enjoyed the chakra affirmations, they were short, clear and on point.
This book seems like a pocket guide on balancing chakras which is great. It is made to look fun and is easy to read.
For those reasons I assume it would be useful for beginners and people interested in learning some basic information about chakras.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book!
This book mostly described what each chakra was and gave you a few areas to press down on to calm or heighten that chakra. It was formatted as a manual and was very easy to read.
I personally am a huge advocate of simplicity, I believe the human condition tends to over complicate things. With that said, I liked the direction this book was going, but not only is this book too basic, it's also ill informed and could have provided better guidance. I will start with saying I'm a Level II Reiki Practitioner, the way it comes across as if you don't have to have any knowledge of the discipline and can just simple place your hands on various parts of your body and just channel the energy without any prior knowledge. Reiki is considered a sacred ritual that is passed down from master to students. Students are taught how to use symbols in their practice and are also attuned to those symbols dependant on the level they are in. There is a level of respect for this practice that the author blatantly dismissed. He failed to provide adequate background and important information.
The use of crystals is an amazing way to balance the chakras, but they are more beneficial if they are programmed before hand with an intention set for each chakra. Also, the author could have given more examples of stones to use to balance each chakra than just three, giving people more options to chose from. Especially if you are going to use stones like Ruby which aren't as easily available like tigers eye to balance the root chakra.
The author didn't make mention of blockages and how to remove them from the chakras. There's a bit more to it than just "balancing" them, you need to clear them. A good meditational technique would have been teaching breathing techniques to bring you to that relaxed theta state. Then scanning each chakra, removing blocks, making them spin properly, for example.
This could have been written in a more informative way that keeps things simple and still not intimidating for a beginner. The disappointment was that I found this to be a bit on the fluffy side. I did enjoy the quick reference charts.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great starter book for learning about chakras and how to balance them. I loved the layout of the book and how each chakra was addressed in detail, allowing you to select one to work on at a time. I found it really useful how you could identify a problem you are experiencing and link it to a specific chakra. You can then follow the meditation/exercises specific to that chakra. It is a simple but very useful book.
I have always wanted to know more about chakras and meditative healing. This is a great book for beginners with accessible charts and visuals to make learning about this topic simple.
