I was a little bit hesitant in starting this book after been one of the few people who was not completely enthralled by the big selling 'The Wife between us' but my fears were soon extinguished. The more I read this book the more I got into into and although I wanted to know what was going to happen I didn't want it to finish.
Who would believe that witnessing a suicide would also threaten the life of a witness, but that is exactly what happens to Shay Miller. She was a witness to a suicide that changes her life. She gets close to friends of the dead girl, but just who is stalking who. Shay is lonely and eager to get a new life with lots of friends so is keen to get closer to the victims friends. The Moore sisters who are the friends of the victim appear to be just as keen to make friends with Shay, but why?

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to future novels from these two authors.

I would like to thank both Net Galley and Pan Macmillan for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

The previous novel by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen An Anonymous Girl peaked my interest with its plot about a single woman taking a personality test and suddenly, finding herself amidst a dangerous scheme. When starting to read their latest release, You Are Not Alone – I was aware that again, a female protagonist would be entangled in a scheme which at first sight, looks too tempting and drags her right in. Unfortunately though, at some point this core idea begins to feel a little repetitive.

Shay, a young, single woman living in New York, becomes eye witness to a suicide situation that shakes her badly. When the victim’s friends, the two glamorous sisters Cassandra and Jane Moore show interest in helping Shay out, she is filled with nothing but gratitude and accepts this support with open arms. What Shay doesn’t know is that Cassandra and Jane are not that innocent.

Leaving the repetitive part aside, I found this to be a fluent, very easy read. What makes me sad is that in certain flashback situations (childhood memories), I get the feeling that there is writing potential for a much deeper, different type of story. I wish that at some point, Hendricks & Pekkanen stepped out of their “safe zone” and found the courage to write something totally new. As I enjoy their writing style, I will keep my eyes open for their next book.

You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
My Rating 3 🌟 out of 5
Recommended if you are looking for a lighter, fluent-to-read thriller novel – simple entertainment.

Thank you to @panmacmillan & @stmartinspress for kindly sharing the Netgalley e-ARC of this novel with me.

I loved the last 2 books by these authors but I just couldn’t get into this one . It was a slow burner but 25% In I was getting bored but I persevered with it and the ending started getting interesting again . Just a 3 star book for me but I am still waiting for the next with baited breath hoping for another brilliant one .

This was a very suspenseful read in that it was quite slow to get through but did have me interested in where it was going.
I could not stop reading the last third or so of this book so i would recommend you stuck with it if you find yourself struggling in the first half.

I loved this gripping page-turner. I couldn't work out what was going on at first, but was completely drawn into this compelling story. Although Shay isn't a particularly likeable character, she is completely believable, and it is very understandable why she behaves as she does. I would recommend this book to anyone who is happy to stay up late to finish an engrossing and exciting book.

I was delighted to receive an ARC of this latest book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen as I have thoroughly enjoyed their previous two books and this one certainly didn't disappoint. Shay is a lonely young woman who is looking for another job and sharing an apartment with a friend whose girlfriend is about to move in with them One day she witnesses the suicide of a young woman at the Subway and is then befriended by the woman's friends who seem to be successful and living the kind of life Shay aspires to. I thought Shay was extremely naive not to realise just how much these women were manipulating her and some of the scenarios stretched credibility somewhat but, having said that, I did enjoy reading it.

I really liked An Anonymous Girl, I wasn't as impressed with The Wife Between Us and this one was just straight up dull. Why didn't I just DNF?!

Once I overcame an early cluster of Americanisms, this Greer Hendricks book has me gripped just as the previous two had.

Told from a variety of perspectives (people and time) this compelling story follows Shay from witnessing a subway suicide through a host of twists and turns with varying degrees of statistical significance. Who are her real friends? What is motivating them to act the way they do? This is a book you will race through to its tense climax. Having completed the tale I’m now off for a banana and almond butter smoothie. Yum!

Thanks to NetGalley for a prepublication copy of this excellent manuscript.

I absolutely looooved this book! The twists and turns and the mystery kept me hooked right from the first page of the book.
I had read the author’s first book ‘The Wife Between Us’ in the past and had found it quite entertaining. But I thought this book is way better and has really upped the bar.
The main character is Shay who witnesses a woman jump in front of a train. What she does after and how she gets sucked into the life the woman left behind forms the main crux of the story.
Sarah and Greer are amazing authors and work very well together (almost like the Moore sisters from the book :-) ). Can’t wait for their next book, hope it comes out soon!
Thank you to the publishers Pan Macmillan for an advanced copy of this ebook and giving me a chance to review this fantastic book!

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. It was ridiculously far fetched and all off the characters were so unlikable. A shame as I enjoyed previous books

I am afraid I was disappointed with this book.I didn't really take to the characters and found the pace to be too slow to keep my interest. Not for me I am afraid.

Shay Miller has a peculiar hobby, she likes statistics.
Living with Sean and his girlfriend, she struggles to land herself a permanent job and is very lonely.
But that's all about to change when she witnesses a young woman jump to her death in front of a subway train. Plagued by unwanted thoughts about the incident, she decides to go to the woman's memorial service. There she meets Cassandra and Jane, the Moore sisters, whom she soon befriends without realising that they have an ulterior motive in striking up a friendship with her.
When she finally becomes aware of it, it is too late, and the sisters' plan had already been put in motion.

This is a really gripping book that hooks you pretty quickly.
The opening chapter was, in my opinion, a little slow but I was quickly drawn in with the mystery surrounding the sisters and their circle.
The story gives you hints along the way, and even though you might quickly guess what the sisters are involved in, the twist you're presented with at the end is unexpectable.
The story was unusual, so hats off to the authors for coming up with an idea that I haven't seen widely explored.
It did remind somewhat of the TV show Dexter...
Overall it was a suspenseful and intriguing read that will keep you well entertained, and I can highly recommend it.
I have another book from the authors on my tbr shelf, and I'm excited to find out if it will be as gripping and good as this one.

A roller coaster of a ride - a rip roaring thriller with lots of twists and turns. A data obsessed heroine, a team of glamourous lady baddies, vengeance and mystery - all you need in a top read.

#YouAreNotAlone #NetGalley
It's an ok read. Give it a go without expecting too much.
Shay is standing on a platform when she witnesses a horrible accident. A woman jumped in front of a train leaving behind a gold bracelet which she takes with her without hesitation.
That woman named Amanda and she was forced by someone to jump in front of a train. Shay is feeling guilty that she was not able to help her. She goes to her apartment and leave a yellow flower in front of her door. Unknown by the fact that Cassandra and Jane known as the Moore Sisters are watching her because they had installed spyware in various places including that bracelet.
And then starts a game of cat and mouse. Although the plot was intresting, starting was also intresting but then it was dragging. Told from various POV's which creates a confusion in mind because there are various timelines like twenty years ago, nine months ago, nine weeks ago, ten months ago etc etc with a lot of characters to deal with.
The Moore Sisters and Shay Miller were good characters but the rest are boring. I can't believe that this is the book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen who wrote The Wife Between Us. Honestly saying that i was expecting too much from this book but it's only a one time read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan for giving me an advance copy of this psychological thriller.

Shay Miller is in a dead end job, living with a roommate she's secretly in love with but who only has eyes for his girlfriend. Everything about Shay is average - until the day that she witnesses a young woman throw herself in front of a subway train.

Suddenly Shay's life is filled with drama. She can't stop obsessing about the dead girl, and trying to work out who she was and what could have motivated her to jump. And then the Moore sisters walk into Shay's life. Friends of the dead girl, Jane and Cassandra are everything Shay isn't - cool, classy, wealthy, and confident, and they soon take Shay under their wing.

With the sisters' guidance, Shay's life is soon falling into place. But with every new bit of information she uncovers about the dead girl, Shay is putting herself in great danger. Someone knows exactly why Amanda jumped...and they'll stop at nothing to make sure the secret dies with her...

Having read and loved other Greer Hendricks books, I was super excited to read this one. I did enjoy it, but for me it lacked the polish and nail-biting tension of some of her other novels, and got a little repetitive in places. I did enjoy the flashbacks, and I didn't see the twists coming, but I think it was a little too unrealistic for my tastes, particularly the proclivities of Jane and Cassandra's friendship group.

A good read which kept me turning the pages, but not one I'd rave about to my book group. 3.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley, who provided me with a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I’ve read by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and I’m really impressed.
“You are not alone” follows the story of Shay and the Moore sisters when their paths cross because of Amanda.
I was completely hooked from the first chapter. I wanted to understand what happened and who were these characters. There was a point in the book when I thought I knew exactly what was happening and by the end of the book I was completely astonished by how wrong I’ve got it and how fantastic the book was.
It does not focus much on an investigation but focus on all the events around the characters. There are also a lot of characters perspectives but it is really easy to follow in my opinion.
The descriptions are on point and interesting and the characters are well constructed and really well developed.
My favourite were the statistics presented: I found it very original and interesting! Also, the medical descriptions were to the point and having medical background I have absolutely loved how this part of the book was portrayed.
There are several plot twists that I didn’t expect and when I thought that I knew what was going to happened I was blind sighted by something else. Throughout the book I think I actually only got about two of my theories right! And believe me that I theorised a lot about what was going to happen in this book.
Overall I would recommend this book to thriller and mystery fans who enjoy more character focused stories. I found it really captivating and am quite curious to read other books from these authors.
I would like to thank #netgalley and #panmacmillan for the opportunity to read #youarenotalone ahead of its publishing date in exchange for an honest review.

I really like these two authors however I preferred their first two and not so much this one .
This is a thriller and I did like the concept of these twisty sisters and friends bit just found it not as gripping or intriguing as those preceding this
The story is a tale of deceit ,manipulation and loneliness .
The sense u get from our lead character of wanting to belong so desperately she just doesn't question all that much till she's in too deep .
I prefer their mysterys and puzzles personally but this is ok just not memorable
I give it two stars as though ok plot doesn't have the pull as their other works

An intriguing, complex tale that held my interest right from the start. It's a bit of a slow burn mystery but it works well that way.

Histrionic, outlandish and absolutely gripping. If you stop to think about it there are probably some glaring errors or contrivances, but just enjoy the adrenaline rush of the ride. This is like Gone Girl on crack.

The authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have established themselves as writers of the most twisted and tense of psychological thrillers and they do not disappoint with their latest offering set in New York. Shay lives a humdrum life, she shares a small apartment with Sean, a friend who is now in a serious relationship with his girlfriend, Jody, and as the dynamics between them change, she feels shut out. She is working temp jobs, feeling unsatisfied career wise, plagued by financial worries, filling her notebook with a range of statistics and an odd collection of disparate data. She is desperately lonely, unfulfilled, facing a emotional desert when it comes to a personal life, simply craving to belong and connect with others.

On a subway platform, she witnesses the disturbing suicide of a young woman who jumps in front of a fast moving train. She begins to obsess with the victim, haunted by the tragedy, as she begins to delve into her life, wondering what on earth made her want to take her own life. This leads Shay into attending the memorial service where she meets two strong sisters in their 30s, Cassandra and Jane Moore, a meeting that is to trigger the downward spiral of her life into a hellish nightmare. The beautiful and successful Moore sisters pull Shay into their carefully chosen and tested close inner circle of friends. As far as Shay is concerned, they are everything she wants to be, as she is drawn like a moth to a flame, particularly as her life begins to improve beyond recognition, but can she trust the new paths that have opened up to her?

This is a complex, chaotic, dark and entertaining read as we follow the sinister and menacing turns that Shay's life takes upon meeting the charismatic Moore sisters. A compulsive novel that I recommend to readers who enjoy their twisty and unsettling psychological thrillers. Many thanks to Pan Macmillan for an ARC.
