This one has a lot of flaws.
Firstly, the calendar contest that is mentioned in the synopsis and what caught my attention is a very tiny side plot at best.
The first mention of it is not until about halfway.
Secondly, storylines were used as plot devices rather than to drive the story forward such as: her falling pregnant so that the issue of marriage could be brought up, setting up the contest so that Reece could use that as his big "romantic gesture."

The way things were paced was odd, it went from 0-100 in milliseconds with almost no build up, no conversation and no actual connection.
The introduction of all the characters in the beginning was confusing as well.

I found this to be an easy read about a friends-to-lovers story that has many hot scenes which is not bad just a good book, quick read.

Fast and steamy - as you would expect anything with a man of the month calendar in it to be, haha. I always like books by this author.

What a great start

I wasn't sure where the Man of the Month tied in but now I'm smirking at the fun. With 11 months left, I know this town is in for lots of romance.

Sweet and sexy friends turned more, Down on Me gives Reece the coveted spot...Mr. January.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I enjoyed this book and the characters in it. I like that it introduced characters for the next books so I could look forward to them

This friends to lovers novel was a fast flirty read. J. Kenner writes an entertaining story. I thought the hero and heroine were engaging. I did think the ending was a little abrupt. Though I believed the couple should be together I did not enjoy the ultimatum that played into the happily ever after decision. I thought Down On Me was a pleasant afternoon's diversion, but I probably will not read the series.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

Kenner's books are all very angsty. Ellie Holmes lost her mother when she was just 4, not sure from what. Her father, the Chief of Police, was murdered when she was 13. Her uncle raised her form there, but he was murdered when she was 17. That night she turned to her older boyfriend, Alex Leto, for comfort, but after taking her virginity, he disappeared. She left Laguna Cortez, not looking back. Ten years later, she had gotten her degree in criminology, worked as a cop, but then got her MA in Journalism and became an investigative reporter, which brings her back to Laguna Cortez, when new evidence comes up that the man who confessed to murdering her uncle, was not the real killer. She is assigned by her editor to write a profile of the Devlin Saint Foundation and interview the founder and extremely private Devlin Saint. But something about him, reminds her of her Alex.

Secrets, mystery, danger, heartache and love confront her in Laguna Cortez.

I was completely turned off by the first chapter and put this book down and just picked it up several months later, to finish. Reese is so easy to image as the guy from the cover and that was my motivating factor to pick up this book and try to read it again. I struggled to stay interested in this book. There was a lot of repetitive thoughts throughout the book and I just got board. This was just not the book for me, since I was turned off from the first chapter it really was hard to finish for me.

Tight muscles. Vibrant Ink. Meet Mr. January. Winter’s never looked so hot … Certified bachelor Reece Walker wants two things—to save the local bar he manages and to get Jenna Montgomery into his bed. He has a few ideas for the bar. But Jenna . . . well, he’s going to have to rely on cold showers, because she’s been his best friend for years, and that’s a line he just can’t cross. Until one wild kiss on a dark night changes everything. Now Reece is certain Jenna’s meant to be his. And with long nights in bed, sensual caresses, and deep, lingering kisses, he sets out to thoroughly convince her that friends can be lovers, too.
Um no...I really liked Jenna a lot. However, I found Reece to be kind of a sleezeball in his actions (and to me those actions kill the book I’m reading). Just wasn’t for me.

"I really enjoyed this story - it was a very quick and easy read!

I didn't get "bogged down" with details that weren't needed - it was a fast paced plot and I read the book in one sitting, I really did fly through the pages.

The characters were well developed too with some great interaction!

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended - a fun novella"

Jenna and Reece have. good chemistry. The friends to lovers storyline worked excellently. I thinl its a great beginning to another great series by a most brilliant author

I did not enjoy this story. Some of the characters acted so juvenile. The story did not move along at a good pace and I ended up skipping chapters

This was a good start to the series.
Jenna and Reece have been the best of friends for a long time. This is a really great love story. It shows that it is possible to go from being bestfriends to lovers. The characters made this book so enjoyable. The fact that they showed so much concern about what being more than friends would do to their friendship. They were also concerned with how their relationship would affect the relationship that they have with Brent. Before they started they were kind of like the Three Muskateers, but what would happen if they started dating.
This book was a very fun quick read. I really enjoyed that the book had just enough suspense, but not so much that you were left wondering if you really wanted to read the next. Infact the author did a great job setting it up for the next book. This book is great i that they have a common meeting hole, The Fix on Sixth bar. I like it when characters in a book have a common meeting place.
I will definately be recomending this book and the series to my friends and family.

Reece Walker wants two things: the bar he manages to succeed and Jenna Montgomery. But, it looks like he might lose both. The bar is on the brink of bankruptcy, it will take some ingenuity…and a sexy calendar to get it back in the black. As for Jenna, they’ve been best friends since they were kids, but his feelings for her are way beyond just friendly. But, is a romance worth the risk of losing her friendship if it all goes wrong?

Down on Me is my first book from J. Kenner, and I picked it because (a) I was seduced by the delicious cover and (b) I was seduced by the abs on the cover and (c) I want to try out more authors, so I am actively picking up new-to-me authors and finally (d) I was hypnotised by the man nipples.

Did this book rock my world and have me rushing to the next book in this series? Not really. Although it was a fun short read, with the friends to lovers trope I generally enjoy, it didn’t quite grab me. That didn’t mean I didn’t have a good time when I was reading it, it had some good love scenes and I enjoyed the premise of this series with the characters launching a sexy male calendar to save their bar.

So, if you are after short and sexy, then this book is definitely worth considering.

Was pleasantly surprised with Down on Me! Not my usual type read. It’s a book about how friends come together in a crisis to help 1 of those friends. In the process a couple of friends find the meaning of love! A steamy read about friendships and more!

I read and reviewed this advanced complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley

Fans of friends-to-lovers romance, with devour this novel. While the plot of the story isn't ' anything new or overly complicated, it's driven by fleshed out characters the reader can care about. Their chemistry is evident and their dialogue entertaining. In the end, it's a story that leaves the reader with a book hangover.
