Tiff is living the high life as a journalist in London until she looses her home, partner and job. Finding this the perfect opportunity to visit her grieving cousin, Marina, in Cornwall. On Tiff'a arrival she is thrown into Cornish life and is found knocking on the door of a handsome stranger. Can Marina and Tiff make a new life for themselves ?
I love Phillipa's books so knew this would be no exception.
Although this book is a light hearted romantic read. Their are some emotional subjects included such as gambling, addiction, lies, lost at sea and fatal accidents amongst others. However the author doesn't allow the book to get too heavy but uses it to show how huge the character growth is in this book and also what they overcome. It also is used to show how dangerous life can be and how others often give the whole of them in the line of duty in more ways than one!
A cute little story, I really liked the atmosphere of the little Cornwall seaside village. I was kind of expecting the plot twist, nothing really surprising about this book, but i enjoyed my read. I probably won't remember it for years, but i liked it for the time i read it!
Thanks to Netgalley for an early read.
This is the third book in a series.
It was great to be back in Cornwall again. I was slightly disappointed as I guessed the big reveal early on in the book. It did spoil it a bit.
This women's fiction/romance book is a really lovely book, which I enjoyed reading.
The story is about Marina and Tiff, who are cousins, and their journey to finding and romancing two men called Lachlan and Dirk. Marina's husband went missing years ago at sea, and was presumed to be dead, so she has been through a lot, and she is only just able to open herself up to new love. Tiff left her life as a journalist in London to live in Cornwall with Marina. Just as things are progressing with them all, Lachlan finds out something about Marina's past which shocks everyone. Will Marina and Tiff's relationship with Lachlan and Dirk be able to survive this news?
This is a great, heartwarming book, which I highly recommend!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
I love Phillipa Ashley - what a wonderful writer, the gift that keeps on giving! Another 4 ⭐️ from me!
This story was truly the perfect Cornish escape! This was fun to read. Many words were truly British, and it was an adjustment initially to think in those terms, for example a lorry vs a truck in the US. Having said that, I enjoyed every bit of it!!
This story is about two cousins, Marina and Tiff who couldn't be more different but are very close. Marina has gone through the tragedy of losing her husband and Tiff has gone through a betrayal from someone she loved which resulted in her losing everything she held dear.
Tiff goes to Cornwall to recuperate and stays with Marina. They both find meaningful connections in the community and new love - but will it last?
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great romance, especially set in Great Britian.
My thanks to the publishers and #NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
A lovely, charming book set in Cornwall, A Perfect Cornish Escape has romance, heartbreak, and second chances.
What I loved about this one was that we not only got one fabulous character story--but two.
Cousins Marina and Tiff both have their own stories with their own special tales of woe.
Marina's husband was lost at sea seven years ago. At this point, she's trying to move on and be productive.
Tiff had her heart broken, her job taken away, and her name ruined by a sleazeball. She's dealing with learning to trust after all the heartbreak.
With the combination of the beautiful coastal setting and the small, quirky town--this book transported me and sucked me in to the world of Porthmellow Harbor and its inhabitants.
This was an absolutely lovely read!
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. My review will be live, at the link given, on 8/18/22.
This was a heartwarming and emotional story about two women and their journey’s to find their new path when their lives have taken routes they didn’t expect. It had depth and built strong relationships that could be felt on the page.
Ashley never disappoints!
Another very enjoyable addition to the Porthmellow series.
Unique characters and fabulous development & the idyllic scenery of Cornwall.
I loved it!
Love Phillipa Ashley books, such a great easy read. Always look forward to sitting down and reading these stories.
A good addition to the series. I got invested in the characters and their storylines. However, I felt this one didn't have the same impact as the first book in the series.
I do love a book set in Cornwall and this was no exception. I loved the characters and really enjoyed the unique storyline. I did guess what was going to happen but that did not spoil the story for me at all. Tiff was loving life as a journalist in London but when she is betrayed by her boyfriend she loses everything. Tiff flees to Cornwall to stay with her cousin Marina who's husband was lost at sea 7 year ago. A happy, sad, funny, heart warming love story.
I've always enjoyed other books by Phillipa Ashley, and this one was no different. It was lovely to be back in Porthmellow, but getting to know a whole new group. A stunning setting full of beautiful descriptions. Although I would have liked to have seen some much loved previous characters, I like that you don't have to have read other books in the series for them to flow.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for my copy of A Perfect Cornish Escape by Phillipa Ashley in exchange for an honest review. It published June 11, 2020.
What a breath of fresh air! This is the perfect read when you need something sweet with some sour mixed in too! I genuinely cared about the characters and was rooting for them. I felt the character development was well-done, and that made me not want to put it down! I think anyone who is looking for a book with a strong sense of place would really enjoy this one!
This is a great story about hardship, sorrow, friendship and love. This book had so much more depth than I was imagining from the cheerful cover, and it's really heart-breaking too. It's all about grief and overcoming the past, but it also has some wonderful light moments too, with a great community atmosphere and a beautiful romance. I really enjoyed all the descriptions of the food, although it made me hungry! And I loved the coastal watch and lifeboat storylines, it was very interesting to learn about what they do, it seemed very fulfilling! But my favourite part of this book was the huge twist towards the end, I did spot some clues and wonder, but I was still surprised when it happened!
I was very excited to return to Porthmellow as I so enjoyed the previous books in the series. The Cornish setting is so beautiful, I defy you not to want to escape there immediately. Alongside some gorgeous romantic moments, there's a few twists and turns that you don't see coming, but the warmth and support of the Porthmellow community always shines through. I highly recommend it especially in these trying times.
Another wonderful story set in Porthmellow. Marina lives in a little cottage and volunteers at Wave Watchers - the lookout station over the sea, the sea that claimed her husband 7 years ago.
Tiff, her cousin, is a journalist taking a break after a break up from her partner and her job.
Over the summer they both make fresh starts but they didn't see the curveball life was about to throw their way.
I have loved all this series of books and this one was no different.
This is the second book by Phillipa Ashley I've had the pleasure of reading. Admittedly at the beginning it took me a while to get into the book and I felt like there was no real storyline. However once I got about 60% of the way through it began to pick up. An enjoyable light read with not much happening, perfect for a holiday read.
A perfect Cornish escape by Phillipa Ashley
Tiff is a journalist who returns to Cornwall to lick her wounds after her politician boyfriend sets her up and she loses her job and her home. Marina is Tiffs cousin who’s husband was lost at sea and whose body was never found. Both are now at crossroads in their lives, as she is nearer the 7th anniversary of his death and can now have him lawfully declared dead.
Extremely well written book with wonderful characters and scenery that just puts you back In the heart of Cornwall.
For a small sleepy coastal town there are lots of twist turns and secrets in this book.
It will make you laugh and cry at times but it’s a wonderful feel good story and a page turner from beginning to end.
