I spend some time reading and listening through all Will Trent books from the beginning. I had previously read one book in the middle of the series (loved it) but felt that I needed and wanted to get to know Will and all the other character more. Let me tell you, I had a glorious time reading book after book. As for this one, brilliant, nailbitingy thrilling and utterly great. Loved to get to know more about Sara Lintons past and I need to find time to read the Grant County series.

Karin Slaughter's latest in the Will Trent series is a chilling and intense thriller. GBI agent Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton are called to investigate the murder of an inmate during a prison riot. Another prisoner, Daryl Nesbitt, claims he's innocent of a series of brutal crimes in Grant County and insists the real killer is still out there, providing evidence to support his claims. Nesbitt points to Sara's late husband, Jeffery Tolliver, and his former colleague Lena Adams as having mishandled the original investigation.

As Sara revisits her painful past with Jeffery, tensions rise in her relationship with Will. Together, they begin investigating the deaths of several women that Nesbitt claims are connected. The deeper they dig, the more they uncover about a clever and ruthless killer who has been evading justice for years, preying on women without remorse.

Slaughter masterfully weaves together dark themes of violence and trauma with a thread of survival and love. It’s a gripping, intense read, perfect for fans of psychological thrillers.

I just loved this book, and because of the very talented TV series, I am even imagining Will as I read it! Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good read by a very talented author.

This follows Detective Will Trent and Medical Examiner Sara Linton.

A man in prison says he is innocent and then when young women turn up murder in the same fashion, have they really got the wrong man?

This was a gripping thriller and I really enjoyed it. It is very gritty and gruesome with details.

I have read the first in the series - Blintsighted and this one I think is number 10. You don't have to read them in order, but it does help, as the same characters are in them. I will be picking up the rest of the series as really enjoyed this.

Fabulous story as always. Was also disappointed to read it as I knew once I finished I would be disappointed as it would be a while before her next novel.
I love the books with Dr Sara Linton and Will Trent. Having read them from the start it’s like coming home.
Another stunning thriller.
Thanks to HarperCollins UK and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read this without realising it was so far into a series and unfortunately I'm a stickler for reading a series in order. I'm sure my appreciation of the characters would have been enhanced if I'd read the others. However this was still a gripping story and I didn't guess the twist which is a big bonus in my eyes. I may explore reading the rest of the series.

Karin Slaughter has become a favourite author these last few months. Every since I started the Will Trent series of her books.. I flew through them and this particular installation was no different. The characters are fun and realistic, but so smart and unique. Karin has a huge talent and I recommend her writing to loads of people!

This was the first Karin Slaughter book that I have read and I will definitely be reading more. Such a great story that kept me gripped to the last page.

So having caught up with Will and Sara in book 9 I went straight on to book 10 and this one was no less graphic than the last. I personally love books that are dark and gritty but some may find the subject matter uncomfortable as rape and the depravity that comes with it is not in short supply here. It seems that the GBI have an issue at hand as a convicted rapist who is serving time in prison is claiming his innocence. Not only that but he is claiming that Sara's dead husband Jeffrey Tolliver is responsible.

In all honesty you do need to have read the other books in the series for this one to have an impact. This feels like an unravelling of things especially for Sara's current partner Will. When another woman is raped and left for dead, everybody soon realises that this is the same MO as the man currently serving the sentance for those historic crimes. This is a no holds barred book in both description and storytelling and isn't for the feint hearted. That's not to say the author is at fault as she has always said she will always write honestly about violence againt women.

The storyline drills down into the personal lives of Sara and Will too as we see them both struggling with Jeffrey being brought into the forefront of their lives. This book was as usual written impecibly with that dark and edgy style that Karin Slaughter is famous for. A great read and once again getting me prepped and ready for book 11!

I read this book years ago, actually, but at the time wasn't able to post a review immediately. Unfortunately, too much time has passed now and I would need to read it a second time to be able to do it justice in that regard. Still, I wanted to mention that I had enjoyed it in general, although not all parts -- the 'romance' part, mostly, left me a little cold, but this could just be because I didn't read previous Will Trent stories, and so wasn't invested as much in the ongoing 'character drama' as a more seasoned fan would've been.

I love being given the opportunity to update our school library which is a unique space for both senior students and staff to access high quality literature. This is definitely a must-buy. It kept me absolutely gripped from cover to cover and is exactly the kind of read that just flies off the shelves. It has exactly the right combination of credible characters and a compelling plot thatI just could not put down. This is a great read that I couldn't stop thinking about and it made for a hugely satisfying read. I'm definitely going to order a copy and think it will immediately become a popular addition to our fiction shelves. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

This is the tenth book in the series. As a huge fan of this series I loved this instalment too.
The writing was amazing and the crimes are gruesome.
This book gripped me from beginning to end

I read The Silent Wife several years ago, but somehow managed to miss posting a review. I can’t remember it fully in order to write a complete review , but I did enjoy it and it encouraged me to read a lot more by Karin Slaughter.

Another gritty, violent thriller in the Will Trent series. The tension builds gradually until the final dramatic scene, in which I didn't guess the twist. Shocking, gory and horrifying at many points, these books are incredibly well written but definitely not for the faint hearted!

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience

Twist & turns a plenty. A book that will have you so engrossed that you will continue to read until the very end and even then you’ll end up with withdrawal symptoms

I hadn’t read any of Karin Slaughter’s books, but I thought I’d try this one when I saw it on NetGalley, as I know they are very popular. But for a number of reasons I did not enjoy The Silent Wife at all! First of all I hadn’t realised this was part of a series until I started reading it, but once I did I hoped it would read well as a standalone – but it doesn’t. Then it’s a serial killer story and I’m never keen on that.

But the main reason is that it is very graphic, very dark, extremely disturbing with rapes and murders described in great detail, and just far too gruesome for me. I was really struggling to make myself read it – so I gave up and didn’t finish it!

Thanks to NetGalley for my review copy, anyway.

I really enjoyed this book and how it was almost impossible to guess the outcome. Your blood turns cold just as the characters does.
This book is not for the feint hearted and should come a warning for graphic sexual assault content as it could be triggering.
The ending was a bit boring and I skimmed over the last two chapters more than reading them but I would still recommend this book

I didn't realise this was part of a long running series and I don't feel it works as a standalone. If like me, you are jumping in for the first time without knowing the back story, the heavy focus on romance. That aside, it is a good read.

Haven't read any Will Trent book so far, so I jump in at book #10. First of all what annoyed me: the romance! Ugh... Without it this book would have had more speed and less interruptions. But I guess the fans expect this.
The story itself is good, pretty dark and gritty. The book itself pretty much reads good as a standalone, you'll have to make assumptions every now and then though and the relationship for instance.

Without the romance 4 or 5 novel, a 3 star now.
