I loved this book! It's well-written, enjoyable, and a great read. Kate Crocco did a great job of writing in a way that helps readers understand the things that are standing in the way of their success. I would highly recommend it!

Reading through the chapter titles with the list of lies we tell ourselves about why we are not ready for something, or why we haven't gotten where we want to be were exciting. I could relate to these lies and see where I may get some inspiration. I like that I can go to a chapter about an area I am struggling with and get to the source of what I am looking for without having to dig through other areas that I am not compelled to at any given point. That makes this book a great resource to keep on your shelf even after the first read through as it can be a reference and reminder when needed. These things we tell ourselves are not typically a one and done, they are things we need to remind ourselves over and over again.
I enjoyed the workbook style prompts inside the text that help to make each section truly relatable to each individual situation. Again, these are great tools to take a look at from time to time when you feel a struggle in certain areas. These are great resets for your mind.
I felt unfortunately uninspired when I read through these pages. I found myself skimming through a bit. I love the headers and the main topics discussed but didn't find the depth I was looking for, This book felt like it would be better suited to someone just starting out in the business creation rather than someone that has been working for a while. I did think there were good nuggets of information sprinkled throughout the book for everyone, but overall it just wasn't what I really needed.

“Your present self is always more capable than your past self, simply because you have learned through your challenges and experiences...You are qualified exactly where you are, embrace it.”

Grab your journal, favorite writing implements, and an open heart as you journey through Thinking Like a Boss. On the surface, the book may seem geared towards women starting a new business, however, I feel as if the content applies to a variety of life circumstances. I purchased this book in hopes of changing my mindset in my current career/job position. Kate guides you through the 12 lies she believes hold you back from experiencing success, with journaling exercises and personal stories weaved throughout. I found myself highlighting many portions of the text and experiencing multiple “aha” moments.

Again, while I am content in my current job position, I was feeling the need to spend some time working on how I view myself in the workplace. As I worked through the chapters, I was able to begin changing the way I was thinking during my workday. As a medical professional who provides habilitative/rehabilitative services to children and adults, I sometimes lack self-confidence, especially when a disorder area comes across my desk I don’t treat on a daily basis. However, with Kate’s words in my brain, I have been reminding myself that I am qualified to treat xyz disorder and He would not send a patient my way that I wouldn’t be able to handle. This way of thinking has been incredibly beneficial, especially as my treatment caseload has dramatically increased.

Most surprising to me was the ease in which I could apply some of the content to my daily life as a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. I also finished the book with ideas and thoughts for expanding my clinical practice and the tools to kick any of those lies that may crop up to the curb. Thinking Like a Boss will remain on my bookshelf for continued reference; a friend, if you will, to pick you up and whisper “You got this girlfriend.”

If I learned anything from Thinking Like a Boss author Kate Crocco it’s this: the lies we tell ourselves hold us back more than anything else. This applies to our businesses, our relationships and spills into our entire lives.

When mindset coach and now author Kate Crocco first popped up in my radar I didn’t think much of it. While I believe things like setting healthy boundaries and managing decision making is important, I had trouble relating it to my business.

It’s funny, in a way, because now it’s all I see. My mindset directly impacts my emotions, my attitude and my work ethic. My mindset affects the way I go after what I want in life. Heck, my mindset either propells me towards thinking big or locks me into a negative victim mentality.

In her new book, Crocco addresses 12 common lies we tell ourselves and offers tips and strategies for overcoming them. She also shares personal anecdotes and lessons from her own life and business. Reading through I noticed I resonated with some lies more than others, which I think is normal. I used this as a signal for areas I should pay attention to and spend some time on.

Which lies? Making Money Is Greedy (Lie 5), I Need My Friends’ and Family’s Understanding in Order to Succeed (Lie 8) and I Am My Business (Lie 11) stick out in particular.

If you run your own business, or even if you’re thinking about starting your own or trying freelancing out one day, Thinking Like a Boss will allow you to move past your limiting beliefs and find the success you’re dreaming of. No guilt or shame allowed.

This book is great for all women! Especially for those of us starting our own business, but I believe all women will benefit from the points made in this book. Kate Crocco heads each chapter with the lies we tell ourselves as excuses for why we cannot start our own business or succeed in one. She then breaks down each one to tell us why it is a lie and how to counter the lie. I found her book to be very encouraging and a joy to read. There are even places throughout the book for us to write answers to questions she poses withing the book - notes to help us to absorb what she is teaching us to apply to our own lives.

I want to preface this review by letting you know that I am not an entrepreneurial minded woman. I don't have big dreams of starting my own practice or business.

This book is for every woman. Yes, it's written with the business woman in mind but I believe all women will benefit from reading Kate's thoughts. Kate's 12 Affirmations are for the full-time working women, the SAHMs, the ladies just dipping their toes into direct selling, the college girls dreaming of the future. The lies Kate tackles and the affirmations she encourages us with are applicable to life in general not just specifically in relation to business.

I was especially impacted by Kate's thoughts on generosity and time. So many thoughts and encouragements will stick with me from this read. I love having the opportunity to learn from other women and I'm grateful from women like Kate who share what they've learned with the rest of us.

There are lies that can be overcome in order to reach success in business
Psychotherapist, confidence and mindset coach, mentor and weekly podcast host Kate Crocco presents her book "Thinking Like a Boss. Uncover and Overcome the Lies Holding You Back from Success", published by Baker Books. Crocco wants her readers to be open to think bigger. She states that she wants to hep the readers believe that they have what it takes to show up as their best selves. She present the twelve most destructive beliefs that hold someone back from accomplishing their dreams, e.g. "I need to have it all together", "I need to say yes to every opportunity", or "I am not capable of handling success." Crocco tackles those excuses and shows the readers how to deal with them. Two questions which she asks repeatedly are very important: "How badly do you want to reach your goal" and "What are you willing to give up in order to take steps toward your dream."
I really appreciated that Crocco is very personal about her own challenges, struggles, and experiences. She encourages readers to get practical in presenting exercises and actionable steps, e.g., in writing affirmations on note cards and placing them around the house (ch. 1) or to pause and take an inventory of your vocabulary (ch. 2). Though the target group is mainly female readers (that does not exclude that men cannot also profit from this book) who want to start a business (and I highly recommend the book for them), Crocco's steps and principles can also be applied to other situations. The notes that are provided at the end of the book will also help for reference and further study.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through Apricot Services and NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Not only did the title attract my attention, but the summary that I can actually be thinking like a boss sounds fantastic! You see, I’m a business owner myself and I have spent more time thinking about what else I could be doing with my life rather than actually working my business.

The author, Kate Crocco, shares the lies believed by many entrepreneurs out there and how to overcome them. It’s unfortunate that I find myself in many of these lies!!

While sometimes I wish I knew these before, other times I believe information such as this come exactly when we need it. The lies we fall into seem so normal and common, yet they are harming our personal and business growth all at the same time.

This book landed in my hands at just the right moment as I am trying to make a shift in my own business. I’m trying to shift from casual business owner to nose to the ground go getter. it is a blessing that this cake to be at this time as I really needed to know that the lies I’ve been living are just that, lies!

Thinking Like A Boss by Kate Crocco was provided complimentary for an honest review. May it reach your hands at just the right moment as it landed into mine.

I enjoyed this book. It's similar to Marie Forleo 'Everything Is Figureoutable'. So if you are a fan of Marie's style, this book will resonate. It's very motivating and is a great book to start the year off with as a way to reach your goals, especially in business.
