Poppy and Stuart have been married for nearly twenty years. Neither of them would have an affair would they? Poppy is a busy Mum and also runs her own business and Stuart is a successful dentist. When Poppy runs into her first love from when she was twenty, her life starts to unravel.
The book is told in the current day and also from the past from Betty, Stuart's Mum as she writes Poppy a letter explaining her life.
I thought this was going to be confusing at first, but actually, it was written really well and I found the book gripping and interesting. There is a lot going on in the lives of Betty in the present day, Betty in the past, Poppy, Stuart and the children, but it does tie in nicely.
