There are two sides to every story...which means someone is lying. One side is Anna, a bbc tv presenter and the other is her ex husband Jack, a DCI with the MIT in blackdown, Surrey. Anna returns to her home town to cover the murder of a school friend, while Jack is the detective investigating the murder - and he also knows the victim. This is a fast paced story with so many twists and turns so it definitely keeps you wanting more. I didn’t guess the big twist at the end either! Alice Feeney has a distinctive style and while this book isn’t published til May 2020 if you like the sound of this you’ll also love her earlier book ‘Sometime i lie’. Thanks to netgalley for the preview.

What. A. Book! This is an exciting, twisty thriller of a book and I looked forward to picking it up every single time. The author kept me on my toes throughout and when I thought I'd got a sense of what was going to happen 2/3 through the book, she surprised me yet again. The plot and characters are so incredibly rich and well developed and I really enjoyed the alternating chapters between Jack and Anna. There's no doubt that this book touches on some incredibly dark and uncomfortable subjects but these all played a role in the overarching story rather than being there 'just because.' I've given the 4/5 stars as I was personally unconvinced by the final twist and felt it wasn't entirely necessary as well as unrealistic. However I will most definitely be recommending this to other thriller lovers.
Thanks NetGalley for my ARC of this title.

I was absolutely drawn into this book from the very first page and read the whole thing in one sitting! I almost always am able to work out what’s going on in these types of books but the twist in this one I did not see coming! The pacing was fast and the alternate pov’s made me eager to keep reading. The only thing I was slightly confused by was the confessing all the way through accompanied by the ending but maybe I just need to read it again to understand. Would definitely read more from this author

I love this author, so was thrilled to get an arc of this book. I didn't find it quite as easy to fall into as her other's, but it was still a brilliant read, and I was hooked in the early chapters. What I love about Feeney as a thriller writer is she isn't afraid to get really dark and really gritty - I was on the edge throughout!

Alice Feeney is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. The way she manages to draw you in from her opening lines right through the twists and turns to the closing sentence - wow! This is most definitely a roller coaster and you will be thinking you know the who, what and why and then a curve ball hits you.
Anna is a news presenter for the BBC. Jack is a detective in the Police Force. When a body is discovered in the woods of a sleepy town, circumstances lead Anna to pack up and head down there. Jack is the lead detective on the case. Thrown into the mix is that the murder victim is someone they both knew. Does one of them know more than they are letting on? Told from the perspective of both of them the story unfolds and you won’t be able to put the book down as you try to ‘solve’ the case.
Another fantastic book by Alice Feeney. I raced through this book and kept coming up with theories as to what I thought had happened/was going to happen and then kept changing my mind. Clear your diary, get comfortable and let the reading commence.
A solid five star read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

His and Hers is a novel narrated in turns by Anna Andrews, a news presenter and borderline alcoholic, and DCI Jack Harper, Anna's ex husband and the lead on a murder in a small town.
Anna is initially sent to report on the murder, but soon realises she knows the woman who was murdered, and that she may be involved. And Jack is initially excited to be dealing with a real crime for a change - until he realises the body is that of the woman he was sleeping with, and that he was the last one to see her alive...
I loved the dual narration, and the difference in perspectives between the two characters - it lent such a realism to both the characters and the story. There are more twists and turns that you could shake a stick it, and each time I thought I had it figured out, I was flummoxed by the next twist.
The novel is cleverly plotted and very engaging - I didn't want to stop reading once I'd started! I also loved that the characters were so well developed - both flawed and dysfunctional, but yet somehow I found myself rooting for them.
Alice Feeney has created yet another thrilling read with 'His and Hers', and I will definitely be recommending this one to my book club.
Thank you to Netgalley, who provided me with a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

His and Hers’ is a thoroughly entertaining read. A gratifyingly fast paced psychological thriller.
The ‘hers’ narrative relates to newsreader, Anna, and the ‘his’ the detective, Jack. That the narrative of these characters intersect at a murder scene may sound like a storyline that’s been done to death (pardon the pun!) but not so, we quickly learn that darker forces have brought these 2 together, and the murder that has United then is a little too close to home for them both!
Such a great story but struggling to say more without inadvertently dropping spoilers! Highly recommended though, easily 5 stars.
My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for an advance copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Alice Feeney is, in my opinion, the QUEEN of twisty. There is absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind that she creates the most twisted, dysfunctional, dark and disturbing characters and let's not even mention her skill of creating the most believable unreliable narrators EVER.
His and Hers is her latest standalone psychological thriller and if you haven't read her previous two Sometimes I Lie (my review here) and I Know Who You Are (my review here), then what the heck are you waiting for.. download them NOW as His and Hers isn't published until 28th May 2020.
This is a story told by the two main characters: Anna Andrews - a successful newsreader with a personal life in tatters, a drinking problem and troubled past she is determined to run from and DCI Jack Harper - a policeman who also has run away from his past and living in a town where nothing much happens until a body is found and he realises he could actually be the main suspect.
His and Hers is the tale of two sides to a story, the murder of a young woman, the newsreader sent to cover the story and the policeman determined to catch the killer and protect himself. Alice Feeney cleverly overlaps the narrators own versions of the truth, weaving them together and slowly revealing the full story to the reader chapter by chapter. I read so many psychological thrillers so you'd think I would be able to work it out.. uh uh... not this time. His and Hers kept me guessing and changing my mind constantly and I was totally gripped throughout.
Twisted, twisty and clever His and Hers is another cracking book from Alice Feeney and I highly recommend it.

I am a fan of Alice Feeney’s books and was really excited to get an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and HQ. Thankfully I wasn’t disappointed.
As the saying goes there are two sides to every story which is the premise of this book, His and Hers, which means someone is always lying...
A body is found in Blackdown Villagw and DCI Harper is sent to investigate. It’s not long before his ex-wife Anna Andrews arrives to report live from the scene for BBC news. Jack starts to suspect that his wife is somehow involved until he suddenly realises he is being setup as a suspect in his own murder investigation.
This is a great book and when you’re reading it you get a real sense of impending doom as the story goes on. I have to say I didn’t like any of the characters in this book but that just goes to show how perfectly they were written as you really believe that anyone and everyone is guilty! The book is well paced with a number of well timed twists with a great ending.

This is the third novel I have read by this author and have enjoyed everyone of them.
His and Hers is a novel featuring two sides of a story, which means someone is lying.
Anna Andrews has finally got what she wants, the main TV presenter of the BBC’s lunchtime news. She has achieved it by putting work before friends, family, and her now ex-husband. So, when someone threatens to take her dream job away, she’ll do almost anything to keep it.
She is asked to cover a murder in the sleepy countryside village Blackdown, where she grew up but feels reluctant to go. The victim is found to be one of Anna's school friends and now she can't leave because she isn’t just covering the story, she’s at the centre of it.
DCI Jack Harper left London and never dreamt that he would end up investigating a murder in sleepy Blackdown. When Jack arrives at the murder scene he recognises the victim but decides not to tell anyone until he begins to realise he is a suspect in his own murder investigation.
This is a fast paced novel with the story been told from the his and hers viewpoints of Jack and Anna. One of them is lying and the twists and turns will keep you changing your minds throughout the book.
I would like to thank both Net Galley and HQ for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This had me gripped. A perfect novel to get stuck into on a rainy weekend. The characters are well thought out and the plot flows along nicely.

A terrific read.
This is my second book of Alice Feeney after Sometimes I Lie and i must say that she's a superb author. She does a lot of work on plot and made a jaw dropping novel. As the name suggests, His & Hers is told from two POV's, His is DCI Jack Harper and Her is Anna Andrews, a BBC news presenter. Jack is involved in a crime investigation but soon himself becomes a suspect. When there are two sides of a story then someone is always lying.
Narration of the story is excellent as i expected from a Alice Feeney book and so are the characters.
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for giving me an advance copy of this book.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. As I was reading, I realized I wasn't able to get into her past books. I ended up skimming more than reading. I liked the alternate views. The ending was great! but overall, i skimmed more than I read.

Kill them all... I was hooked from the opening chapter of this book and couldn't put it down until I'd reached the end. His and Hers tells the story of Anna (journalist) and Jack (detective). Anna is portrayed as an intriguing, troubled character from the start. Someone who is keeping up appearances despite her alcohol problem. Jack is also an interesting character and it's clear both have a story to tell about the past. Then a woman turns up dead and their lives collide..
I thought the plot was brilliantly executed. I particularly liked the way the character dilemmas build up around the plot and as the story gets more twisty, the characters get more and more drawn in and the tension about what they have to face up to becomes almost unbearable to read. The threats of the plot are woven together in a really clever way and the characters are intimately connected with it. Meanwhile I was constantly questioning who might be the killer as a cast of suspects are lined up.
The ending took me by surprise - I didn't guess. I absolutely loved this book. Five stars and more.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Wow what a read, this had be hooked right to the end. Great storyline characters etc, would highly recommend.

2.5 stars
Some people are going to love this.
Unfortunately I'm not one of them.
It suffered from too many twists in the story for my liking,so I almost had a "what now?" Going through my head the whole time.

Alice Feeney does it again! She draws you into the story with a superb start and then takes you on a jaw dropping journey until the end. In fact, I think my jaw fell open so many times it’s fixed in the gaping mouth position! I might have uttered the odd expletive as another shocker clobbers you! The story as the title implies is told from two perspectives. ‘His’ is DCI Jack Harper, head of MCT in Blackdown, Surrey a quintessential, sleepy and beautiful English town in the stockbroker belt. He’s a bit crumpled, not living his best life having retreated to Blackdown from the Met following a tragedy. ‘Her’ is Anna Andrews a temporary BBC news presenter filling in for Cat Jones who has been on maternity leave. Anna has plenty of secrets and there are several versions of ‘her’. When a Jane Doe is discovered stabbed multiple times in Blackdown Woods what follows is a tale of the unexpected as you would expect (!) from Alice Feeney.
The novel is well written and has a lot of excellent descriptions and metaphors of what it’s like inside His and Her heads. The plot is good and you think you have the truth sorted and then you realise you so haven’t as both perspectives are contradictory. It has more twists than a corkscrew and at times it’s so dark you can barely see a hand in front of your face. It’s mysterious, tense, creepy and spooky. The setting especially of Blackdown Woods adds an extra dimension of atmosphere as even the most benign woods at night can feel scary. There are revelations and shocking events to keep you wanting to read on and on. Although I did work out the big reveal it in no way spoils the enjoyment.
Overall, is a terrific read and highly recommended for fans of the genre.
Special thanks to NetGalley and HQ stories for the Arc.

I really enjoyed Alice Feeneys last 2 books so was excited to read this latest one, it did not disappoint, I was hooked straight away. Plenty of twists and turns and an ending that I did not see coming! Definitely worth a read.

I've loved the two previous books by Alice Feeney that I've read and this was no exception! The chapters alternate between Anna, a BBC reporter and Jack, a local policeman. Bodies start turning up in a small town and it becomes apparent that there is a link between them. Feeney is known for her unexpected twists and His and Hers certainly stays true to her style. I was genuinely gasping out loud as I was reading it. It's a very original plot and I thoroughly enjoyed it and raced through it in a day!
