Really good thriller. There is a lot to this story and a lot of twists and turns before the killer is revealed. The story is gripping and dark in places. Some of the characters have a lot to hide. I really liked the story being told by different people. It is all very well written and definitely worth reading.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

I decided to not read the synopsis before reading this. I think it sometimes helps when it comes to mystery thrillers to go in blind. Unsure of what to expect.

This felt a little slow at the beginning. But I think considering things happened straight away. I think it was mainly my mood that cause that feeling.

However I soon got my intrigued by this. I just kept reading and reading. Managing to finish this within 6 hours I would say. I just wanted to see where it ended.

When it came to twists there were a few I didn’t expect. Especially the final reveal. But at the same time I wasn’t really theorizing. Until a character was mentioned then I felt like I knew who was the murderer. But I was wrong. I didn’t once suspect the actual killer. I don’t think I had a reason to. Which I think was the point. She even says as much.

I will say the run up to the end felt a little messy. Like too much was happening and being revealed at once. Which got me a little lost for a second. I had to re read a page or two to get back on track.

Overall it was a decent read.

One thing that I hope was just the arc and not in the final copy is the POV from the murderer. In my ARC those POV would start just like it was a normal next sentence. Not a break or new page to indicate a new POV. Which confused me at times.

Two sides to every story, His and Hers?

Anna has the job of her dreams but hardly anything else. Ex husband, tragic death of her child and estranged from her mother her crutch is her job and alcohol.

DCI Jack Harper has moved back to Blackdown village following his divorce and loss of his child. Living with his sister and niece in his old childhood home, this is not the life he had planned.

Anna loses her prime time job back to her rival and is back to being a reporter. When a body is found in Blackdown village her and DCI Harper are thrown back together.

As events unfold we are taken back to their childhoods where a tragic event reveals itself to the reader. As the body count rises who can be trusted and who is telling the truth?

I really enjoyed this book. I changed my mind all the way through who the killer was and the twist at the end was brilliant. My only complaint would be that sometimes the narrative was a little confusing. I'm hoping that this is because it was an ARC copy and will be more clear on publication. It definitely did not spoil the read though and I would recommend reading.

This book just wasn’t for me, the narrative was confusing and frustrating. The characters were hard to warm to as you never really knew who was narrating from one moment to the next. I did think the story was good but not well executed

Fantastic fast paced read. Does the he said she said throughout so you get both perspectives with some excellent twists that blew my mind. Can't recommend enough.

At times I found myself confused by this seemingly classic murder mystery. Ending kept me guessing right to the end.

I really enjoyed this book. Gripping, twisted and multiple perspectives are most criteria for me! The ending had me confused though as there was no way to show the narrator had changed so I think that could have been better executed. It was a really intricate and well thought out plot and I loved it!

This is the second book that I have read from Alice Feeney. The first one was 'Sometimes I Lie' which I gave 5 stars. But I liked this one even more!

This is told through two perspectives, "him", Jack who is a detective in Blackdown where a murder happens. The "her" perspective is from Anna Andrews who is a BBC news presenter based in London, who is sent to Blackdown to report on the murder.

But it just so happens that Jack and Anna used to be married to each other And also the women who has been murdered was known to both of them.
When more of Anna's old school friends start turning up dead, is Anna next?

This book had me gripped!! It has over 350 pages but I flew through it like it had less then 100. My guess of the murder suspect must have changed about 30 or more times. It's was so confusing, but in a good way.

The ending of the book was really fast paced and the conclusion had me gob smacked.

The only bad think about this was that sometimes I got confused what I was reading and from who's perspective. But I think this is because I read an un-proofed ebook of this. I think reading a physical copy would be laid out better.

5/5 stars

*I received an ebook copy of this from Netgalley in return for my honest review.

Just wow, wow, WOW! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My mind is blown. Alice Feeney is my new favourite person. Writing books this good shouldn't be allowed!

I don't think I have EVER been so confused as to who the murder culprit was in a story before. Its safe to say that at different stages of the book I was 100% convinced it was one of four different people 🤔

This was much more twisted than I was expecting and properly freaky, verging on horror film at points. But goodness me was it well executed.

Alice Feeney is flawless. I love her. If she ever decides to stop writing then I will be writing a formal protest!!!

If I could sum this up in one word it would be frustrating!

There were lots to like but also the same goes for the dislikes.

I did like the story itself and I really liked the character of Anna, she was well written with a hidden depth to her.

I usually love a story with different narratives but I found the switches clumsy and disjointed with no clear divide on the narratives, half the time I didnt have a clue who's POV I was reading.

In my opinion there were one too many twists and I didnt overly enjoy the little hints and clues to what might happen next.

But I did enjoy the overall storyline and it did have you second guessing throughout and it's well paced which especially in the second half keeps you on your toes.

2.5*

Thanks to netgalley and HQ for the ARC.

Gosh this was definitely a. book of two halves. I felt quite bored during the first half. I didn’t feel like it was getting anywhere. Then suddenly, wham! The pace and the twists ratchet right up and leave you on edge right until the final paragraph. Real on the edge of your seat reading. Thoroughly recommend.

This story switches with each chapter being from the perspective of Anna or her ex-husband Jack. Some authors use this technique to great effect, but in this book the switches are clumsy and disjointed. There are also so many red herrings, you feel you've been out with the fishing fleet! Its hard to work out who is doing what, which is good in a whodunnit up to a point but this book doesn't use it as a technique so much as for shock value for little gain.

The reader keeps thinking they know who is committing the murders, then there's a twist and everything changes again.

Overall the story is interesting and pacy, and certainly the second half gripped me and I wanted to know who was guilty of the murders. But I found the style detracted from the tale. There are certainly plenty of twists to keep you entertained.

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Full of twists and turns, I didn't work out the twist until the very end. Anna is a BBC news presenter, but when her maternity leave cover comes to an end, she finds herself downgraded to having to go back out on location in her home town. Jack is a DCI who left London after his marriage to Anna broke up and is the lead detective on the murder that Anna is presenting on.
The book takes us from present day to the past as the victim is known to both Jack and Anna, but why all of a sudden are people suddenly in danger and why do Anna and Jack know more than they're letting on, even to each other.

A crime detective story which draws you into the past lives of the main characters. Who is telling the truth and do they even know themselves. A totally unexpected twist at the end turns everything on its head.

This book is a wild ride. There is so much going on from so many different angles throughout the book that it feels like you never quite grasp who you're actually rooting for - or even who you're supposed to be!

Tons of action, dark flawed characters, lots of shocks. This wasn't my favourite as none of the characters are particualrly likeable and there's so much going on that I never felt connected with any one storyline. Having said that, it's well written and this will be a 4/5 star read for a lot of people. Just a shame I never felt that 'investment' with this book.

I have always loved Alice’s work and was ecstatic to receive an early copy of her latest novel.

This book is incredible. I read this book in two sittings, only putting it down as I had to sleep. The book is told from three different perspectives, Jack, Anna and an unknown person. Each chapter is only a few pages long, but yet each chapter ends on a cliffhanger, so you need to read on. It was unputtadownable! Towards the end of the book, I thought I had the whole storyline figured out and felt quite smug. Then, Alice delivered the big twist and I was shocked. I just stared at the page thinking how on earth did I not see that coming!

This book is a must for all thriller fans. grab your copy now 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’d like to thank HQ and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘His and Hers’ written by Alice Feeney in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

A woman is found dead in the village of Blackdown and BBC newsreader Anna Andrews and cameraman Richard Jones are sent from London to cover the news item. DCI Jack Harper, Anna’s ex-husband, and DS Priya Patel who work for the Major Crime Team are called upon to investigate. Anna was brought up in Blackdown and knows the victim well as they were at school together and Jack suspects his ex-wife of somehow being involved as she seems to know details of the case before the police make them public.

‘His and Her’ is a superbly chilling and well-written psychological thriller told in alternate chapters by Anna Andrews and Jack Harper, moving effortlessly from their teenage years to the present time. The plot is fast-paced with drama, tension and unbelievable twists and turns, both characters lying and keeping secrets from each other and neither of them being above reproach. I didn’t find the characters very likeable but they fitted perfectly into the story, and throughout the time I was reading I had absolutely no idea who the killer was as I was constantly changing my mind. It wasn’t until the last chapters that all was revealed and when the conclusion came it was a huge surprise and completely unexpected. This is a thoroughly enjoyable thriller and one I can wholeheartedly recommend.

I appear to be in a minority here, but I really struggled with this book. The characters weren't particularly likeable and it was all a bit predictable. I didn't actually finish it as it just didn't hold my interest.
