I was there,, loving every word and racing through the final pages, hurtling towards what I had hoped would be a satisfying conclusion! But no.....it wasn’t to be and I felt bitterly disappointed and let down! It was as though a whole chapter was missing somewhere! Such a shame!

Laura so preparing for her first day back in the office 6 months after having her son Bobby, they came to the conclusion it was better for Laura to go back to work and Nate was to stay home as she was the bread winner in the family.

Mia was Laura’s replacement for her 6 month maternity leave. But Mia wasn’t going anywhere now Laura was back. Harry their boss trying to smooth everything over yet forgetting to mention that Laura had been taken off her biggest client portfolio in the time she was away.

Jaime was the picture perfect house wife who’s world revolved around her girls and her husband Harry, Laura and Mia’s boss. She gave up her courtroom career to make Harry’s dreams come true. Her lady cause still hunting her 5 years later.

There was a body pulled out of their burning building and the three women are first in line to be questioned. They all have a secret that could easily become motive to kill. But who did it? I forgot how much I loved thrillers. Even though I did piece together the ending this book was so well put together.

Unfortunately Three Perfect Liars ended up being perfectly predictable.

The concept of this one is great – there’s an office building which is burnt to the ground, and the story jumps backwards and forwards between the weeks leading up to the fire and the police interviews on the morning after the fire – but I saw the twist coming from a mile away which is a major disappointment.

However, I loved the discourse that Heidi Perks writes around the expectations placed on working mothers and the inherent discrimination that they experience when returning to work. Even though it might not be something that could be pursued in a court of law, the treatment that Laura experiences filled me with rage: if I’d been treated like her when I returned from maternity leave then I would have hit the roof! I can’t think of another thriller which discusses a subject such as this, which made this stand out from the pack.

I'd heard great things about Heidi Perks previous books, so I was really excited to read Three Perfect Liars.
This is a really well written story and I looked forward to picking up this book whenever I could, so that I could find out more.
Some parts dragged on a little bit for me, whereas I enjoyed other parts like the present police interviews, much more.
I was certainly kept guessing until the very end and there were plenty of good twists and misdirections throughout.
I'll definitely be revisiting some of Heidi Perks back catalogue, after enjoying this book as much as I did. And I'll be looking out for new releases from her in the future.

An office building has been set on fire and there has been a fatality. Three women are under suspicion.

Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this book at all.

I couldn’t warm to any of the characters and found the plot really dull and predictable. There wasn’t any tension or suspense and it seemed like not much really happened in the story.

The story switches between the months leading up to the fire, and the aftermath of the fire where the suspects are being interviewed by police. The idea of this was fine as it mixed it up a bit but it was still uneventful and quite boring. I had an advance copy and there were a lot of formatting errors in the police interview sections which spoilt the flow.

It was an easy read but didn’t grab me at all. I found the ending was a bit of a cop out and the whole book was very ‘meh’

Three women tell their story and you have to decide who is the liar. Are all three? And why? Well they all dislike each other for starters! I love books told in different formats so this is perfect. Clear the day and relax back with this. You’ll not regret it.

Three perfect Liars by Heidi Parks is a cleverly written drama. I particularly admire how the writer creates the unfolding of the story through a series of police interviews.. The main suspects all seem to have plausible alibis and reasons for being where they were on the night of the incident and it’s not until close to the end that we find out what exactly happened.

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well plotted drama mystery.

I really enjoyed this book. Laura has just returned to work after her maternity leave, only to find that her replacement, Mia, has been kept on, and seems to have made herself very much at home in the office. But what is Mia's secret, and why was she so keen to be working for Harry? Meanwhile, Harry's wife Janie is struggling after giving up her job as a high powered barrister and moving the family to the south coast. She is haunted by her last case, which had consequences she couldn't have foreseen. When a fire destroys the office building, all 3 women are questioned. I really enjoyed the last Heidi Perks book I read "Come Back for Me" so naturally I was excited to read THREE PERFECT LIARS. However, this book just didn't do it for me. It was slow paced and took me a while to get into.

Meet Laura, Mia and Janie. All three women who are all determined, who all have a mission of some sort and who are all linked...although they don't realise it yet.

Laura returns from six months maternity leave to discover Mia, her temp who was covering for her during that time, had not only been given a permanent position at Morris & Wood but had taken over her biggest and most important client account. When she had interviewed Mia for the position six months prior, Mia had given no indication that she was looking to park her feet under her desk indefinitely...or even permanently. In fact, the complete opposite. Mia just wanted a temp position to tide her over before moving on. At least, that's what she said.

Now Laura is set on not only retaining her position in the company but getting back her major account. So set on this outcome, she becomes consumed with catching Mia out to the point of being obsessed. It's all she can talk about with husband Nate whenever she's home that he has grown tired of her constant tirade over Mia. What about their baby son? While she's battling it out with her boss Harry at work over Mia, she is missing out on precious time with her six month old baby son Bobby. Is Mia really worth that?

When Mia saw the advertisement for maternity cover at Morris & Wood advertising agency, she knew she would do whatever it took to get that job. And keep it. I didn't really like either Laura or Mia and with Janie - I didn't either like or dislike her. She was just neutral. I don't think her character was built quite as much as the other two. While I didn't much like Laura, I hated Mia coming in and stealing her job and wondered why she had done so. It certainly did look as though she had something in for Laura, so I couldn't blame Laura for feeling that way. But at the same time, I also grew tired of her constant complaining about "Mia this and Mia that". But really, all three women I really didn't care much for.

Told from the perspectives of all three women leading up to the fire, as well as in police interviews in the days after, THREE PERFECT LIARS is a slow burn where the tension builds as events unfold. The format in which it was written was cleverly done, although I felt the police interviews SHOULD have been in completely separate chapters to break it up a little more and separate events rather than have them tacked on the end of chapters.

What let this book down was the ending. While the tension was palpable throughout as it built slowly, the conclusion was a little anti-climatic. I guessed the identity of the culprit just shortly before it was revealed as it all of a sudden became clear to me. But it wasn't that that was disappointing, but rather what came after that. Suffice to say, there are times when someone has just been through enough. I can't say anymore without spoiling it.

Despite my reservations, THREE PERFECT LIARS is a good read and I still relatively enjoyed it. And while I didn't either love or hate it, I have no hesitation in recommending it to fans who love a slow burn thriller.

When Laura returns to her job after six month of maternity leave, she expects Mia, who substituted her in this time, to be gone. Yet, the young woman is still there, at Laura’s desk and with Laura’s most valuable customer and: she got a permanent contract. Laura is furious and soon convinced that there is something wrong with that seemingly sympathetic colleague who makes friends with everybody easily. The more Laura digs into it, the more paranoid she gets, neglecting her husband and young son, her mind only circulating around how to dethrone the enemy. Mia actually has something to hide and yes, there was a reason why she rushed to this rural area and wanted explicitly to work in this company. Janie, Laura and Mia’s boss Harry’s wife, on the contrary, is a full time mom and at the moment totally frustrated. It is not just that she has given up a splendid career, something is nagging on her and slowly destroying her marriage. When one evening, the offices burn down, all three of them seem to have had good reasons to destroy the company. But, did they also count on killing somebody inside the building?

Heidi Perks’s mystery is a marvellous story which hooked me immediately and keep me reading on as soon as I had started. Three female protagonists are very different from each other and hard to see through at the beginning. But the more you see them interact with each other, the more suspicious you get and while I was reading, I was constantly shifting sympathies since every piece of information added to the picture and slightly changed it.

At first, I felt compassionate for Laura. Coming back after months at home now struggling with her new role as mother and having a career at the same time. Her husband’s constant criticism – even though completely justified – and having somebody younger and attractive stealing her post while her boss lacked supporting her: I could easily understand why she felt like losing all confidence in herself and increasingly getting obsessed with Mia. I didn’t really like the later at first, mainly due to the fact that she was presented through Laura’s point of view, she seemed like an intruder with evil intentions. Yet, there was also another side which she kept from the office and which told an entirely different story. I didn’t know what to do with Janie, was it just lamenting at a very high level? Having a wonderful family and lots of money, what did she have to complain about? It was herself who suggested giving up her career. She was certainly the character least tangible of the three and her motives of ending her marriage remained quite blurry until the end.

A brilliantly crafted plot with a very female and perfidious fight between the three. There was also something really tragic about the story when the motives were finally revealed which kept me pondering about the fact that how easily you put together an allegedly coherent picture of a person or a situation while you might be totally wrong.

Laura had a high flying job with an advertising company but on returning after maternity leave she finds that she is being pushed out by Mia, her temporary replacement. Her boss, Harry, and all the staff seem infatuated by her but Laura is convinced that she isn’t what she seems. Then there is Janie, Harry’s wife, who was a barrister and seems to resent having given up her job to look after their two children but is she keeping secrets. The book opens with the offices being burned down and a body being recovered. All three women were in the vicinity and all are under suspicion. The story is told from the points of view of the three women and goes back to events leading up to the fire, I found this book so difficult to put down and especially enjoyed the chapters with the police interviews. The tension builds and keeps you guessing right until the end. A highly recommended read.

A slow paced book which took me a long time to get into. I liked the premise of it, but the path leading to the suspense was long and winding. The three ladies added to the tale with their own deceptions.
Overall a good but slow read

This was a slow burner, having said that it did leave me wanting to know the outcome, it just dragged on. Some of the plot didn't make sense and I found Laura really annoying. I also guessed quite early on which then spoils it for me personally.
The story touched on points of motherhood and sacrifices which I'm sure many can relate to including myself. All in all the story was OK, it didn't blow me away.

The synopsis for this book gives a very good idea about this story. A story about 3 women, Laura, Mia and Janie. What do these 3 women have in common, well they all have a connection to the same company. Laura has been on maternity leave and has just returned back. Mia has been covering Laura’s leave. Janie is the wife of the owner.

The story took me a while to get into, it seemed a little confusing as I was taken back and forth on the timeline. The present is the police questioning various suspects. The past is the lead up to a fire that leaves the offices burnt down and a body inside.

While I did like the story in general, I did feel that the police questioning took the edge off it a bit. I think my impatience to want to know more about the women and what they were all about was more interesting. The questioning was initially a little repetitive but did get better as the story progressed.

I much preferred the lead up to the fire, this felt edgier. It was a slower-paced story and while I did like wondering what was going on, I felt like there was too much speculation, gossip and more questions.

It is a good book if you like a slower-paced story that is intriguing, and you like a mystery that takes a while to get to. I would recommend it as I did read it over a couple of days and needed to know what was going on and eventually find out the truth.

This was a great whodunit mystery that focused on drama, gossip and lies. The characters weren't the most likable, but the plot was solid and it was an interesting read.

I have read a few books from this author and she didn't disappoint on this one. This book had me glued from start to finish and had me second guessing myself throughout (something that I don't often do!) Loved the relationship between the three main characters: Laura, Mia and Janie and the way they all.try to second guess each other. Well done Heidi for another brilliant read!

Three women, three stories of revenge, a building destroyed by fire and a dead body - this is a gripping mystery thriller with the basic premise 'actions always have consequences'. It's a classic case of whodunnit but with some great plot twists and turns that keep you guessing until the last minute. A great page turner, well written with good solid characters. Absolutely enjoyed from start to finish, u didn't want the book to end. Highly recommended, if you like books that keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat.

Another great book by Heidi Perks - a real page turner with 3 great central characters and a story that slowly unraveled itself, bit by bit, with a few surprises along the way. Well written with a good level of suspense with pacy chapters. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a mystery to solve without the blood and gore of some detective novels.
