Tess and James are hot together. I really enjoyed reading this romance and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

In this latest installment of Cynthia Eden’s Wilde Ways series, we see a familiar character. I know these are all listed as books that are standalones, and they are, for the most part. However, with this book, if you don’t know Ghost’s history with the team, I think you’re missing out. You won’t be confused or anything, don’t worry!

When Tess Barrett is out for a girls night with her friends, she can’t stop looking at a super hot guy who coincidentally can’t stop looking at her. They hit it off, but Tess backs out and leaves.

James Smith owns the club, and he owns a lot of secrets. Things he can never tell Tess. And he wouldn’t want to share even if he could. It was dark and she doesn’t need that in her life. He wants to give her nothing but pleasure.

Tess comes to him for a no-strings attached situation, but what if he wants all the strings? He’s just going to have to make her want him more than she fears commitment. And he’s doing an excellent job of it until Tess starts getting creepy phone calls. She thinks her past is going to catch up with her, and she might not be wrong. Luckily James is there to help. He’s got favors owed to him all over the place, and he’s got an in with Wilde Security.

James wants to keep Tess safe, but she’s an ER doctor, so it’s not like she can just hunker down and hide out. But when even her hospital doesn’t seem safe, she’s going to need James now more than ever.

I loved seeing James learn to love. He is absolutely someone who would steamroll over Tess except she doesn’t allow it. I think at one point he was saying something like, “Just tell me what to do and I’ll do it!” Tess shows him that she doesn’t need him taking care of everything. She just needs him. And James is learning how to be James, and not Ghost. (I purposely have not spoiled what his previous line of work is, but you can probably guess).

James was your typical bored by life, take what I want and don’t look back, type of hero…at first. Once he realized he wanted Tess’ happiness and safety more than anything, he changed. Oh he’s always going to be a growly alpha type man, that’s just who he is, but he finds he wants to be more for her.

This book fits in perfectly, but I hope we see more of James/Ghost in the next book.

Ghost Of A Chance was an intense, page turner of a story that I could not put down. This is a thrilling non stop action story with excellent and likeable characters and a really intriguing storyline! Thanks to combustible chemistry, wonderful characters, and a storyline that was not only full of suspense, and drama, but secrets and lies, and it genuinely kept me guessing until the very end. Another massively enjoyable addition to the Wilde Ways series. I absolutely loving this series and can’t get enough of them. Bring on more please as I definitely need them in my hands. I only have one regret when I’ve finish a book by Cynthia Eden is that I don’t have anything new to read by this author, so I have to go back to the beginning and re-enjoy them all over again. Definitely grab your copies of this series!! Happy reading!!

GHOST OF A CHANCE is the seventh instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women of Wilde Ways security. This is former government assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith, and ER physician Tess Barrett’s story line. GHOST OF A CHANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including James and Tess GHOST OF A CHANCE follows the building relationship between former US government assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith, and ER physician Tess Barrett. A night out with friends finds Tess Barrett in the arms of a stranger, a stranger of who she cannot get out of her mind but a home invasion leaves Tess angry and scared, pushing our heroine towards the man with whom she would fall in love. Enter former US assassin James ‘Ghost’ Smith. What ensues is the building but reluctant relationship between Tess and James, and the potential fall-out as one or both are targeted by demons of the past.

Tess Barrett keeps secrets her tormented past. Homeless and alone, our heroine finds herself facing a nightmare only to discover that the nightmare continues for the rest of her life. James Smith knows that the truth about his past will destroy any hopes of a relationship with Dr. Tess Barrett, but it is his past that is trying to destroy them all.

The relationship between Tess and James begins as an almost one-night stand. James is desperate to uncover the truth about Dr. Tess Barrett but in doing so discovers that all is not well in her well-ordered life. Keeping Tess safe and protected will pull the Wilde Ways Security Team into his life but James battles between head and heart when it comes to protecting the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to several of the Wilde Ways Security team members: Wesley Cade, Linc Dalton and Blair Kincaid, as well as doctors Devin Goddard, Latonya Wilson, and nurse Marilyn Montgomery; James’ assistant Barnes. The requisite evil has many faces. Linc and Blair’s story is next in Crossing the Line.

GHOST OF A CHANCE is a story of betrayal, vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing and engaging; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is passionate and seductive. GHOST OF A CHANCE is another wonderful addition to Cynthia Eden’s WILDE WAYS romantic suspense series.

GHOST OF A CHANCE is the sixth book in Cynthia Eden’s addictive “Wilde Ways” romantic suspense series. James Smith aka Ghost was first mentioned in THE HEART YOU BREAK, and he’s been intriguing readers ever since. In the subsequent book, FIGHTING FOR HER, readers get more of Ghost’s backstory. In GHOST OF A CHANCE, this assassin and former government contracted killer is now a club owner and captivated by Dr. Tess Barrett when she wanders into his club one night with her friends. Cynthia Eden tells this story with alternating perspectives, and digs deep into these characters and their psyches, but I enjoyed Ghost more so than Tess. Tess has lived through a lot and is a strong and academically bright woman, but I just couldn’t relate to her as much as I did the hero. As expected for a Cynthia Eden novel, this story kept me riveted to the page and I stayed up way past my bedtime in order to see how things worked out in the end.

With the arrival of Ghost into Tess’ life, things get a lot more dangerous for her. It’s not immediately clear until near the end of GHOST OF A CHANCE whether the danger comes from somebody in Tess’ circle, or whether it has to do with Ghost and his history of violence and long list of enemies. Ghost can’t help but feel a sense of inferiority when it comes to Tess, and a sense of guilt that his past may have put her in danger. Rather than be put off by his air of danger, Tess sees Ghost as “James” – the fascinating, super sexy, and fiercely protective man she’s interested in, rather than the notorious assassin known as “Ghost”. As the killer’s motivations and identity are revealed, Cynthia Eden takes a deep dive into the depraved, but the good guys find for their happy ending and vanquish the baddies.

GHOST OF A CHANCE is a twisted and terrifying tale of revenge with a sensual and unconventional love story. As always, with the past few books, I very much enjoyed the banter between Linc and Blair. Reading this book only makes me more eager to read about this appealing group of supporting characters in future books.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Wow, I was so excited when I saw this book was about Ghost as I liked the character after the previous book in this series. Glad that Linc and Blair and Cole were thrown into the mix and got to see them and a bit of an advanced look into the next book.

I loved that Tess was so down to earth and honest and there were no games with her. She and James just seemed to work together even though they were kind of opposites - she was a doctor trying to save lives and he was an assassin who took lives - granted they were evil targets.

When Tess keeps getting attacked, you wonder if it was someone from James's past that is targeting her or is it someone from her past?? I won't give out any spoilers and will just say that the answer is not that simple and quite a surprise as well as who is behind it all.

I was so sad when the book ended because I loved Tess and James so much and they got their HEA and the story was over. Now I have to be patient and wait for the next one to find out more about Linc and Blair and their story sounds equally exciting!!

Loved this wild ride of a read! James aka Ghost Smith is a night club owner now but he has also been an assassin for Uncle Sam. He knows how to compartmentalize his life but when he meets Tess he's amazed at how much she draws him in. She's an ER doctor who saves lives and that makes her too good for him but he doesn't care. He has to have her. Tess is looking for something too so when she meets James sparks fly. Starting out as a no strings sex only relationship was fun but it quickly develops into much more. Loved the action, humor, and red hot romance!

Thank you to Netgalley for a advanced copy for an honest review. Ghost is back! I love Cynthia Edens books and I remember Ghost from previous Wilde Ways books and I am so glad he got his story. Tess and overworked ER doctor goes to a club and is instantly attracted to James, the club owner. James has a colorful past working for the government as an assassin. Soon bad things start happening to Tess, is it someone getting to Ghost thru Tess or has Tess past come back to her. I loved these characters and how the author draws you in to root for them. Bravo, can't wait for Linc and Blair's story next!

Cynthia Eden’s Ghost of a Chance is even hotter than usual as Tess and James burn up the pages of this book. Just when you think the problem of the story s going to be his past and her commitment issues, danger enters the picture. Should have seen that coming with Ghost of a Chance being part of the Wilde Ways series. Book number seven to be exact.

One fast-paced steamy read from page one to the concluding one. By the end, you are so glad that both have the professions that they do. James in relentless in protecting the good doctor. Still, it is their relationship, whether it can stand the test of time that made me keep reading.

Ghost Of A Chance by Cynthia Eden is book 7 in the Wilde Ways Series. This is the story of James Smith and Tess Barrett. I have read the previous books (Loved Them!) which added to my enjoyment of this one but I do feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
James has a dark past but now is working as a Club Owner and this is where he sees Tess. Tess is a ER DR who has a bad past that makes her to keep people at arm lengths. So when James and her have their hot night but its not enough. So Tess agrees to more but on her terms which is keeping things at a distant. Of course James wants her so he agrees but he plans on changing the rules to get what he wants. This was a hot alpha read with the drama story that keeps us turning pages.

We met James Smith in Fighting for her ans I was hoping we would get hi story and when we did boy was it something special

James knows that he isn't a good man he has done many things that he isn't proud of but at least he did them for his country but he knows his hands will never be clean Then he meets Tess she is an ER doctor who tells it like it is She want's a no strings attached affair because she also has a dark past ad she believes no one would be able to handle she barely does. The only problem is that emotions are starting to grow between these two and they are both starting to want more When danger from the past comes back to haunt them they will need to fight for a future but the men of Wilde will be at their back

4 - "You’re safe with me…" Stars!

Another massively enjoyable addition to the Wilde Ways series. James ‘Ghost’ Smith and Tess Barrett’s story kept me reading, with the authors usual twists and turns, action, sexy-times and great secondary characters.

She saved lives… He took them.

The doctor and the assassin, not a match you would generally pair up, but the heart wants what it wants, and as their eyes meet across the crowded nightclub, nothing will ever be the same again for either of them. Both have secrets, both have shady pasts, neither one is sure whose it is that has decided to crawl out of the woodwork and cause trouble for them.

"You stand in the dark long enough… You start to like it."

I guessed who the villain was in this one pretty early on, hence the loss of star, but I loved this couple together, nicely alpha for James and although inexperienced and a little retiring, Tess soon grew a pair and started to stand up for herself.

"I don’t care about your past… I want your future."

Loved Blair and Linc, the Wilde operatives, and am sooooo glad that Cynthia is finally giving them their own book next Crossing the Line the chemistry has been bubbling between this pair for a couple of books now and I am dying to see what sort of story the author gives them.

"I and ready to kill for you. Fight for you… Die for you. Trust me… I’m yours."

Another winner, I love this authors RS titles as much as her PNR stuff, and cannot wait to see what she has in store for her readers in 2020!

**4.5 Stars**

I just recently found Cynthia Eden as an author and Ghost of a Chance is the second book I have read from her and I am highly impressed with her writing. The stories she writes are highly engaging, have great characters and very involved and suspenseful plot lines that keep me guessing about where the story is going to go.

Ghost of a Chance tells the story of James, a former assassin turned club owner, who sees Tess at his club one night and is instantly drawn to her in a way he has never been drawn to anyone before. Tess is a doctor with a past that she is not proud of and doesn't share with anyone, and in turn keeps everyone at arm's length and relies on only herself. Their attraction and chemistry is palpable throughout the book. I really enjoyed reading about this bad boy assassin getting a little more gooey and soft for Tess and showing a more vulnerable side and letting his guard down a little. But he was definitely still Alpha which was hot and swoony too!!!

There was lots of drama, mystery and suspense that kept me on my toes and I could not put this book down. I would definitely recommend this book and I cannot wait to read more about the Wilde crew in the next book!!!

This book has it all, mystery, romance, suspense, danger, witty dialog and a slightly damaged and dangerous hero who has met his match. James Smith has blood on his hands and shouldn’t be thinking about Dr. Tess Barrett. He knows that he is not good enough for her and she knows that her past is not totally innocent. Tess grew up on the streets from the time she was thirteen until she was attacked and almost killed. Some good people stepped in and allowed her a chance at a better life. She is stronger than James thinks and will make up her own mind what their relationship will be. This book will keep you turning the pages, sigh, laugh and cheer for what may be a mismatched couple to some, but their need and love for each other will get them through. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Tess is a doctor, and James owns a nightclub. Both have a past that is coming to haunt them, and together they make a great pair. Another hit in the Wilde agency series, and another that is hard to put down. Highly recommend this book, author and series.

Amazing!

James and Tess’s story grabs you from page one and takes you on an emotional and action filled journey that doesn’t stop until the last page.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

Sometimes a Bad Boy Can Be Sooo Good!!
I knew as soon as we met James Smith in Fighting For Her I wanted to know more about the mysterious Ghost and to see him get his HEA. This book did him justice and so much more. Tess and James are my favorite Wilde couple so far. Tess Barrett is out with friends at a club when she sees him and can’t stop staring. She doesn’t have time for a relationship so they agree to no strings sex. James has that mysterious Bad guy alpha thing going on that she can’t resist. There is always a element of suspense to keep the pages flying. I really loved watching as James and Tess’s backstory unfolds. Two people who never needed anyone find that one person they can’t live without. But somehow the past always comes back to haunt you.The Wilde team is on hand to watch his back. I know Lincoln and Blair’s book is next and I’m still waiting for Cole to get his own book. That man is always catching hell.

James “Ghost” Smith had my interest since he first appeared in book 5. So mysterious and broody and i immediately wanted to know more about him.
Dr. Tessa Barrett, was a strong woman and yet so vulnerable. I loved how their relationship started. I loved how James became infatuated with her. I loved how possessive and jealous he was but more importantly how protective he became of Tessa.
Tessa is the perfect woman for him.
The suspense and romance is perfect in this author’s books. That’s what I can always count on this author. I’m looking forward to the next book. I’m itching to get my hands in Cole’s book.
I definitely recommend this. And if you like protective and possessive heroes then this is the author for you.

I completely forgot that I was reading a Wilde Security book. About half way through, I said "oh yay that's right". I liked that, Ghost of a Chance, reads like a stand alone novel. Plus I never guessed the ending. I had half of it but not the why.
