Apologies for the later addition of my feedback. Basically this book serves as another ball in the cannon of efforts to establish Science and Faith as friends rather than enemies and it generally does a good job of doing this. The author seems to come more from a sociological than doctrinal viewpoint but this is a breath of fresh air and will be helpful for those who are put of by strict doctrinal or apologetic based books. Recommended.

Written by a Christian professor of sociology at Rice University, WHY SCIENCE AND FAITH NEED EACH OTHER takes the premise that Christians should not totaally reject science or scientists, just because of a few vocal atheistic scientists. Through her own studies and experience, along with her research into the academic realm, the author strives to show that there are many more scientists in the US who are practicing Christians. The aim of this book is to demonstrate to Christians that there may be more scientists sitting with them in church than they might suggest, and believers should not be so negative toward those who work in scientific fields. One way she tries to build bridges is to demonstrate that virtues like curiosity, creativity, awe, and gratitude are reflected in the life and work of Christian scientists, and that other Christians share more in common with Christian scientists than they might think.
Some interesting insights presented, although the writing can be somewhat bland at times. Still, worth a read for those interested in this particular topic.
I'm a science (Physics) teacher and graduate from Abilene Christian University. This book summarized conversations we had as undergrads, collecting thoughts and wisdom into a conversation many people keep hidden in their souls.
Well written, well organized, with about 20% of the book foot notes and notations to research.
