Space Wolf by William King is an action-packed, thrilling novel set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000. It follows Ragnar Blackmane, a Space Wolf of the Imperium of Man, as he embarks on an epic quest to find and reclaim a powerful relic for his chapter. Along the way, Ragnar and his fellow Space Wolves must battle against treacherous Orks, the insidious forces of Chaos, and the mysterious alien race known as the Eldar.
Space Wolf is a fast-paced and intense story that will keep you turning the pages. William King’s writing is vivid and descriptive, painting an immersive picture of the galaxy in which Ragnar and his chapter must fight and survive. Ragnar is a great protagonist, and his story is full of compelling moments and plenty of action. Fans of Warhammer 40,000 will find a lot to love in Space Wolf, and readers new to the universe will be drawn in by the exciting battles and intriguing characters. Highly recommended, 4/5. I think I only like two other Space Marine books more!
A classic WH40k novel, re-released for new fans to discover it. I came across King's work via the Gotrek & Felix series, which remains one of my favourite fantasy series. It was interesting to read his take on Black Library's SF setting, even if a lot of the lore has shifted/moved on/developed since this was first written.
A must for fans of the WH40k setting, who want to read about a fan-favourite character. Recommended.
I liked this and so did 1500 others that rated it on Goodreads. I don't what else I can add that would be helpful. Recommended for space epic fans.
I really appreciate the review copy!!
I am not sure what changed here from the original edition of the book. If you are just getting into the lore of 40k novels this is a good start as it is self contained and easy to follow. For long time readers who just never picked up a Blackmane book, this is the one.
I managed to get deep into the Black Library catalogue without ever reading Space Wolf, one of the defining novels of the Warhammer 40k universe. When the opportunity to rectify that arose, I jumped as quickly as a Adaptes Astartus in power armor. King opened a window into a world created for a tabletop game and quickly set the standard for grimdark science fiction. You will love every second of the story of Ragnar, from his beginnings as an unmodified human to his current actions as a proud Space Marine. Space Wolf is a great jumping-off point for anyone interested in Warhammer 40k, throwing you into an eternity of carnage, slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
I really enjoyed the book and could not put it down. The plot was interesting and the tale was well written. I look forward to more from King.
