"CEO" by Patricia E. Gitt is a compelling business drama that delves into the high-stakes world of corporate power and intrigue, offering a riveting read.
I was approved for this book back in 2020 but could not read it due to the formatting and could not download the book. However, I came across a copy and decided to read it now.
The premise of the book promises corporate greed, glittering receptions, high-powered enemies, and moment-by-moment surprises that follow this fast-paced, true-to-life story of a woman who risks everything in the high-stakes game of corporate intrigue.
The premise sounds promising, but the overall pacing of the story was slow in parts. The story was set in the 1990s, and I had a difficult time feeling connected to the main character. It wasn't a bad story, just not a story that I felt was compelling for me.

Just could not get into this book, so I did not post a review. I don't like to DNF books, but there are so many great ones. Thanks for the opportunity.
This is fast paced and intriguing. It's very engaging and hard to put down. Gitt wrote in a way that you get a real feel for the characters.
Set in the late 1990's. A woman CEO in a male dominated world. The environment and description of everything was very real. Made you feel like you were there. It could become a series, though I don't know that Gitt has even thought that way
Thanks to Netgalley for the Kindle Version of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I tried to enjoy this book but it was a slog to get through. The start was too slow and there were too many characters to keep up with. The writing was long and tedious and i didn't particularly like the protagonist.
I'm sorry, but I'm really struggling to get into this book. There is a big character/info dump in the beginning chapters and I'm having trouble remembering any of it. Unfortunately, I'm just not feeling engaged or interested in the characters and their involvement at this time.
This is a me thing and probably not the fault of the book, so I may pick it back up at another time.
I wasn't too sure about this one - but I'm glad I kept reading! I was pleasantly suprised. An interesting and page turning book, kept me gripped.
It was a good thriller kept me on the edge of my seat nice corporate thriller I would read more from this author.
Enjoyable read that i got through quickly. Set j. The #metoo era, it looks at it from a successful woman’s perspective, when she meets someone who she later wants to work with. It shows how much harder it is for women in Hollywood which clearly shows the double standards. Thank you for letting me review this book.
This book wasn't like any other I'd ever read. The start felt a little slow paced, and with a lot of characters appearing through several chapters. But then, like in a movie, the rhythm picked up and everythingstarted to make sense.
ML is a young female New York company's CEO, hiring a writer to work on her biography as a business strategy. The action takes place in the late 90's. Intrigue and some heart breaking fill the pages of this book.
It is a great story. Maybe a little screen-structured, but interesting.
A good read for fans of Dallas and Dinasty.
Commercial intrigue, newly announced ceo. Can a woman have a private life and be a business success? Business journalist looking for a story, access granted to the new ceo but is she who she seems to be. A glimpse in to the boardroom and bedroom of the key players. Start of a series to follow other key characters? I hope so.
A female CEO in a male dominated industry. Sounds pretty intriguing but I found it rather dull.
I also didn’t care for the writing style.
This book sounded like it was my cup of tea but unfortunately it was not. Slow to get into, predictable and it felt like very little plot. Perhaps I expected too much?
At first I wasn’t sure if I would like this novel but am very glad I kept on reading it! Excellent writing and the characters were amazing. Give this one a try!
It's difficult to categorize this book. I don't think it's a Judith Kranz/Jackie Collins tale of powerful women. It wasn't ostentatious or dazzling with the riches of money. But it was a solid tale of what it is like to be a powerful woman within corporate america. It almost read as non fiction. The main character ML was very difficult to get to know and seemed one dimensional but I think that was the point as she grew from ML into Melissa. As a female who works in corporate america, I did appreciate the ending as satisfying.
Pleasantly surprised by this one, it has an interesting plot and easy to read. The publisher called it a "page turner", I agree. Well written, one tiny little thing in perhaps two places did throw me off, a bit of confusion over proper use of two words. Minor little blips, they didn't bother me for long and the plot took over again. I'm mentioning only in case a reader asks why I gave it 5 stars. The errors were easily dismissed as I got caught up in the story again.
