You know your on a winner when you read a book in less than 24 hours and don't want to put it down.
I love Heidi Swain books and this was no exception, I love the characters and the warmth they generate. You feel like they are people you see on a daily basis and can picture them and the beautiful Norfolk scenery perfectly in your imagination.
Heidi always creates a long lasting warm and fuzzy feelings for her readers and her wonderful writing style makes them perfect to read no what your mood.
I loved this visit to Wynbridge and can't wait to read more by this amazing author!!
Oh my goodness. It’s take me ages usually to read a book , but this book in less then a week,
A wonderfully told story of twists and turns, loveable characters and beautiful messages. Certainly a book that I couldn’t put down and Never wanted it to end. I do hope that there is a follow on. Would love to follow the characters. Fab book Heidi.
The Secret Seaside Escape is exactly what you'd hope for from Heidi! Wynmouth is amazing and I'm running away to go live there right now! I adored the characters so much! Tess, Hope, Sophie, Sam, Joe... They were just ao wonderful! Oh and not forgetting Bonkers Bruce!!
This is a gorgeous, sweet, funny, dramatic and perfect book by a BRILLIANT author!
I love Heidi's books and I was so excited to see that this one was set by the seaside which is my favourite happy place and when I started to read I knew that I would love Wynmouth as much as Wynbridge and Nightingale Square.
Tess is burnout working all the hours of the day for her Dad's PR firm, she starts to feel disillusioned with life then when sorting out her Mums effects she is shellshocked by a discovery that rocks her world.
She leaves for the only place that she felt was her happy place a place that she spent time as a child with her Mum, Wynmouth.
She rents a small cottage from Sam the pub landlord and goes completely of the grid. and starts to make friends in the villge.
I loved this book it was a total escape from life and I loved the characters and Heidi always makes them so likeable and I just jump into her novels with both feet.
i will be recommending this for a fantastic summer read.
Book review for The Secret Seaside Escape
I was very lucky to be given this ARC of one of my favourite authors.
This book was exactly what I needed after being taken down with a cold. I was captivated from the first page and read this being house bound over the weekend. It was the perfect medicine that I needed. Full of warmth, romance, drama and wonderful characters. I absolutely loved everything about this charming beautiful story.
The plot was brilliantly thought out and I loved the little secrets that kept popping up.
The story was set in the wonderful seaside resort of Wynmouth and you really feel like you were there with the characters. I love where Heidi has got her inspiration from and I really need a trip to the Norfolk coast now to see this wonderfulness for myself.
I loved the characters just to touch on a few; Tess the over worked career women needing a break who runs away from her dad and work for her own well being. Sam the dishy pub landlord who Tess grows close to. Joe the intriguing bad boy farmer back in town after so long away who also grows close to Tess. Sophie the café owner and mother figure who takes good care of Tess. PS how delicious were her food and drinks. I was even sitting at work on Monday thinking of what the characters were up to as if I knew them!
I love Heidi’s work and always will buy any new book of hers out. Think back to Snowflakes and Cinnamon Swirls at the Winter Wonderland, The Christmas Wish List and The Cherry Tree Café to name a few of my favourites. If you haven’t read these then you need to 😊 they are fabulous! This new book is out on 30th April and is a must read.
This was a phenomenal novel from Heidi Swan, enabling you to escape from the real world and in to the pages of Wynmouth, a gorgeous seaside town.
Tess was such a lovable character, consumed with a lot of grief, confusion and all in all, burnt out from the long working days she had put on herself, to forget about her own problems. After a shocking revelation coming to light, it was well and truly time for her to take that well-deserved break she was in need of, which included returning to a place that held many special memories for her.
Despite being on a break, Tess still managed to find herself enthralled in the complications within Wynmouth and the locals. She found so much passion in supporting the people she had grown incredibly fond of, including the handsome Sam, who carried a heavy past on his back.
The secrets within Wynmouth were shocking to say the least, with a plot twist around every corner as the book came to an end. I was stunned by how much Tess' life changed during her stay and how much of her knowledge was far from the truth. The character's connected more than you'd ever believe and for that, I was over the moon, because everybody was an absolute delight to read about, along with the cosy pub Sam owned and the stunning and vibrant beach cafe, owned by the darling Sophie.
By far one of the best read's for me this year so far. Once you start, you can't stop and I'll be sure to check out Heidi's other books, because I have no doubt they are just as wonderful as this one.
This is a fantastic new novel from Heidi Swain, in my opinion her best one yet in fact.
The Secret Seaside Escape encapsulates your seaside holiday memories and throws in drama, conflict and family tensions that make it a real page-turner.
Tess was such an interesting character to me, her grief and burn out was something I could relate to personally and the underlying issues with her Dad were heartbreaking. It was interesting to see the journey they go through and what changes for them both.
I loved the background story of Sam and the conflict he experiences once Tess arrives in his quiet coastal village of Wynmouth, which I could easily move to myself as it sounded idyllic especially the little cottage and the vibrant beach café run by the talented Sophie.
Twisty, exciting and emotional, this book is a delight!
I’ve read most of Heidis books but this is by far the best! Easy to read and once you start you won’t stop. My favourite book so far this year Heidi, Thankyou so much. Looking forward to the next one.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book to read & review by @netgalley.
Well where do I begin.. Heidi has done it again, she’s one of my favourite authors, she’s such a fabulous writer & I always think hmm is this going to be as good as the last? But it always is and it’s always even better.
This is a perfect summer read & has made me want to book a holiday this year to visit Norfolk. I loved the friendships Tess made as soon as she visited Wynmouth, it is definitely a hearty read & I cannot wait to see what Heidi comes up with next as I’ll be first in the queue for it! 📖💛 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm a huge fan of Heidi's books, I don't feel the need to read the blurb or description about the book,as in confident that I will love it.
I jumped at the chance to read an early preview copy of this book from Netgalley and the Publisher. I had been eagerly waiting for the book to be published, so I was excited to read an early copy.
This book is set in Wynmouth, a fictional seaside town in Norfolk. It is a brand new location for Heidi, and it is a gorgeous setting for a book. I hope that there are more books set in Wynmouth, as it is lovely place, with a lot of community spirit.
Tess is clearing out her Mother's belongings, after her unexpected death. She discovers her Mother's diary, which reveals a huge secret. Tess is already struggling, after her Mother's death, and a very heavy work load at her Father's business.
She decides to sneak away for a much needed break from work, unable to face her Father. She decides to go to Wynmouth, a place that holds many happy memories of her childhood holidays. She quickly becomes part of the community, and is reluctant to leave a place that has become a safe haven for her.
This book is not as lighthearted as some of Heidi's previous books, but it is a compelling read. There were so many twists and turns which I didn't expect when the secrets were revealed.
There is romance, life changing decisions and secrets as well as tackling grief, stress and burnout and pollution of our beaches. This book tackles a lot of different issues, and they are skillfully wound together as part of the storyline, before becoming unravelled as the secrets are uncovered.
This book is so very well written. It is a pleasure to read. I can't rate this book highly enough. It is a fantastic read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher and of course the author. I have loved everything this lady has written and I absolutely loved this, loved the characters the location and did not want to finish it.
I've literally just put this book down and had to review straight away. I loved this book! I have recently been reading some of heidi Swains previous books and after reading this one I want to lock myself away and devour all the ones I haven't read so far. This is probably the best one I've read so far and loved the little twists and turns. At first I thought this was going to be a very predictable easy read but there were still twists I didn't see coming right til the end. Thoroughly enjoyed and will recommend.
This book was amazing. Meeting Tess and her hard working life until she decide to go on holiday and back to where she went as a kid . She went to wymouth to try remember the good family times from when she was a kid. While there she meet her old friends Joe and Sam but thinking they didn't remember her she said nothing about it. Also making new friends while there Sophie and hope.
I glad at the end Tess got with the guy who gave her first kiss behind the beach hunts all those years ago. Also that she found out that hope is her sister.
I give this book 5* Heidi swain never fails
Love Heidi’s books. You feel like you know the characters personally and can relate to them. Her flair for writing makes the stories relatable and flow easily. I would love Tess to become my best friend. The cover is so attractive. Roll on the next book!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
What an amazing book! First of all, a few chapters in and I'd decided I NEED a seaside break! Honestly I loved the theme, it suited the book perfectly and I definitely need to visit a beach soon!
I love Wynmouth and I literally want to live there!! 😍🤭 The themes that run in most of Heidi's books are about a community and this wasn't any different, however I loved the fact that family come together, and how everyone joins together 💖
I literally couldn't put this book down! I just wanted to be there, I loved all the characters. Tess especially, I think we all relate where we wish we could escape our life for a while! And the friendships she makes are magical ✨
Another amazing book by Heidi, & I hope we might see more from these characters as I literally didn't want the book to end! 😍
Such a lovely enjoyable read. It flowed really well and found myself loving Tess, Wynmouth, the little twists and the whole story! A tad gutted that Wynmouth isn’t a real place!
I really recommend this book if you want to escape. You will love Tess and the whole story from beginning to end. I really hope we get to see more of Tess and Wnmouth very soon, I want a reason to go back!
Thanks so much Netgalley!!
I was lucky enough to be given a copy of this book to review. This is the first of Heidi Swain's books I have read and certainly won't be the last.
I got so attached to the characters, and the story was so much more than what I was expecting from it. I loved the twists and how all of the characters storylines came together.
I loved it. Perfect setting on the Norfolk Coast with brilliant characters. I loved the twists and turns as the story played out. Another brilliant book from Heidi.
Heidi has such a flair for writing lovely characters and beautiful places, this book is just like hugging an old friend! I really enjoyed it, lovely front cover too. Would make an excellent summer read.
An easy to read, feel good story. Parts of the story line are a little hard to believe but this is the kind of book where it doesn't matter too much.
