A really fun read with a lot of great characters (main and supporting), snappy dialogue and a little mustery thrown in.

Honeymoon Alone was an adorable book! I could see this getting turned into a cute rom-com movie. The plot was so unique and I loved the ending!

This is a wonderful book for a holiday/beach read. Very in line with Jenny Colgen and Ali McNamara. Honeymoon Alone is a sweet book, so warm and touching I appreciated the minor nod to Meg Cabot in her early Boy Next Door book. The ending was super predictable but it was very welcome!

Thank you to NetGalley, publisher and author for allowing me to read a copy of this super cute book. Romance is not usually my favorite genre to read, I'm more into thrillers and mysteries. Having said that, I loved this book. This is my first from this author but it will not be my last. I loved all the characters, especially Lucy and her family. I loved the narration style of the author and I loved every page from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more from this author, what a wonderful and delightful surprise!

I liked the premise of the story - trusting fate, taking a solo trip to gain some independence and perspective with a little bit of flirtation and romance thrown in. I loved visiting London and Paris so hearing Lucy experience some landmarks brought me right back. I also appreciated the overbearing family, ABBA references, cute moments of chemistry and quirky comments. Unfortunately it also felt slow at points and the ending wrapped up like a Lifetime drama (I’m a Hallmark gal 🤣) so it lost some credit there.

Thanks @netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute sand romantic read but I had some major issues with the main character Lucy. She was just silly. Pure silly and even a bit dumb at times. I also found myself not caring which guy she ended up with, which lice interest was better. It was cute but meh. Would never actually happen.

The story of this book is about Lucy, that has the opportunity to go to London on a "honeymoon" trip when her sister being the freaked out person she is forgets to cancel the reservation she had made at an Hotel in London for newlyweds and decides to go instead to the Greek Islands. Lucy takes this chance inspired by what the psychic at her sisters weeding had told her the previous day about taking chances. So she embarks on this trip of self discover and possibly love.

My issues with this book were the main character and I have a lot to vent about it:
Okay I understand that Lucy is not really a risk taker and she's used to go by her family "norms" but there's having a personality and then there's being simply dumb. A lot of her actions were dumb and her family was really hard go get past.
The Hotel was really weird because for a 5 star really conceited hotel like it was described had a lot of unreliable staff.

"How did I think for a second that they’d all just laugh and think it was amusing and wonderful for me and just continue about their lives?"

“Give me your reservation number, and we’ll get you a flight right back. What airline did you take for this fool’s mission?”

"(...) you can barely stay in your lane in America."

The only normal and sane person in this family was the father and the sister that got married.

“You worry too much, Charles!” I hear my dad say, his jovial tone bringing a smile to my face. “You do you, Lucy!"

Yeah you know what? That's the truth! Lucy is a grown woman that can do whatever she wants with her life and she ends up regretting her decisions, that's how it's supposed to be because we learn from our own mistakes.

I almost face palmed myself when she did this and it's totally unreal, never never would anyone do this.

"Stop!” I yell, squeezing my phone tightly. Before I can stop myself, I hurl the phone as hard as I can out the open window and into the night. My mouth falls open and I take a deep, steadying breath."

So the next line really ticked me off because 1st not everyone applies filters to the pictures they take... 2nd she's trying to get excuses for throwing her phone out of the window because the family kept pressuring her to return home

"But it’s kind of nice seeing photos that are incredible on their own, without an Instagram filter applied."

Then there were the love interests, Cary and Oliver... I couldn't care less about which one she ended up falling in love with since I disliked them both for different reasons. Therefore the ending wasn't the best and I wasn't at all invested in the story..

This book was such a refreshing read. I like to have a stack of books that I consider palette cleansers and this would definitely be one of them. This is a great read if you just read a really heavy book.
It was kind of like the unhoneymooners except this was ended up being a honeymoon for one. The psychic in the story was a fun catalyst to her adventures. I don't think I've read another book that has a psychic element.. The writing was absolutely up there with other well known Rom Com authors. For me, a good rom com will always give me nostalgic 90's rom com movie feels, and this book did this for me. I enjoyed it so much that I have ordered a hard copy to keep on my bookshelf, because this will be one that I reread on a nice rainy day, sitting on my reading chair with a cup of coffee.

Lucy, the youngest in a large family, has always been very predictable. But after speaking with a psychic at her sister’s wedding, she impulsively decides to go to London under false pretenses. Her trip soon turns into a web of lies and fake relationships. But in her quest for self-discovery, Lucy may just find the independence and love she was looking for all along.

I really enjoyed this light hearted story! First, I have been devouring books that include international travel recently. Living vicariously through the characters of the book as definitely been fun! But aside from that, I loved the character growth in Lucy as she steps far out of her comfort zone and becomes more independent. While the romance sizzled, I liked that the focus was on Lucy and her personal journey as well. Though speaking of romance, I definitely enjoyed a certain brooding leading man!

The only thing in this book that gave me pause was a certain plot point that seemed to come out of left field. I don’t want to spoil anything here, but if you’ve read this book, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Overall, a cute and light novel that would be perfect for an afternoon quick read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the review copy! I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Lucy goes on an adventure to London after talking to a psychic at her sisters wedding. This is a breezy light read.

I liked this book for the most part. It was quirky and had a good story, with fleshed out characters that were sympathetic and full. It was a quick and easy read.

The premise of the story was great. However, I don't feel like Lucy changed much by the end of the book.

The pacing felt a little off and there were parts that were sluggish and dragged.

As a grown up woman, Lucy is still looking for her identity as a person. She always aim to please her family and she never did something spontaneous. When her sister books two locations for her honeymoon, Lucy is the one to remember on the last minute to call and cancel the reservation made in London. However, the hotel policy doesn’t refund the costs. This exactly moment is a crucial one in Lucy’s life as she decides to take on this opportunity and travel abroad for the first time-to travel somewhere, anywhere for the first time.
Arrived in London, she is met at the airport by someone who she used to know back in her school days, and she accepts his offer for a ride. However, Lucy is disappointed that Cary doesn’t remember her very well, or at all.
At the hotel, Lucy has to face the reservation without a husband, lying about her identity, which makes the owner’ s ever so curious son to become suspicious about her story. As a fact, it appears that Oliver is everywhere at anytime where Lucy goes.
Per total, I was confused about the romantic situation of this book, as Lucy doesn’t express very well her thoughts regarding which man she is into for more than half of this read.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.

What a cute story!
Lucy is a by-the-book person, letting life happen to her. The psychic at her sister's wedding (a hilarious idea) encourages her to take a chance, and so Lucy ends up on her sister's backup honeymoon in London.

There's a love triangle, a mystery, strong friendships and family ties. Lucy is a relatable character trying to figure out what she wants and how to get it. Her family feels grounded and realistic - being the youngest of five kids, it makes sense she's struggled to find her way.

Overall this book was a bit predictable but I certainly enjoyed the ride.

This was a fun, quirky book about finding yourself by letting go. I LOVE novels that feed my wanderlust. So traveling with Lucy was a delight. She had such an upbeat, relatable spirit to her, I couldn't help but root for her.

If I'm being honest, there wasn't a lot of substance to the story itself, however, I wanted a light fluffy read to distract me, and this was perfect. It will make you smile, it will make you laugh, and it will tug at your heartstrings. The side characters are fun, and the writing is truly amazing.

I wish there was more to Lucy and Oliver, but I didn't mind that in the face of watching our main character grow and develop through the journey!

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review!

I liked this book. It was about a woman, that has never placed herself out of her comfort zone, but an opportunity was arisen when her sister double booked her honeymoon. So, she decided to travel for the first time and hijack the second honeymoon destination. The main character is vulnerable, and it shows how she grows and has an optimistic outlook. The romance was subtle; it is a friendship to lovers. The twist at the end was not too expected and it was nice to be surprised. I also really enjoyed the banter between the main character and love interest.
Overall, this is a good relaxing read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys quirky romances.

I received this book from Netgalley for an HONEST review. Thank you.

I tried so hard to love this book, but it just wasn’t for me. I found myself not really caring for the characters and not being invested at all, which is a shame. I found the romance lacking during most parts and for a novel that’s set in Europe, I expected more cheeky banter!

Any story that takes place in London draws me in, and after reading the description for Honeymoon Alone, I thought it would be great to read.
Lucy Gray isn't one to do things outside of the box, staying within her somewhat small town world and not venturing out. When she gets the opportunity to go outside of the box, she does it, pretending to be her sister on her honeymoon at a London resort hotel. Despite people drawing suspicion, specifically the concierge Oliver, she finds herself falling in love with exploring the city and learning to be less predictable.
I would say the plot was predictable, as I found the twists intriguing and occasionally unexpected, but I wished that the book didn't go in that direction. The subplot of two criminals didn't feel like there was a flow to it, and I would have loved for some of the side characters, like Cary and Oliver's sister, to not be such one note. I was a little disappointed in the ending because of the twists.
However, the story itself is a touching and fun one, especially to see Lucy grapple with her feelings and the truth. I loved the moments where she was taking photos and her interactions with the other characters, especially with her family. Though I had issues with certain aspects of the book, it was still a fun read about a girl discovering a wonderful city for the first time. 3.5/5

Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay

I can't say enough how much I fell for the two main characters of this story. At it's core Honeymoon Alo e is a Heart-warming story that will melt even the coldest of hearts. Although this was a quick read for me I very much enjoyed the character development of Lucie and her romantic/not so romantic interest. You'll know what I mean when you pick this gem up. Deep and at times insightful this book is definitely worth a read. I hope to read more about these characters in the future.

5/5 Stars
