Where to start with this phenomenal book? Witty, exposing and completely unique, Exciting Times is indeed worthy of the exceptional praise being thrown it's way. I'd recommend this book in a heart beat - with shades of Sally Rooney, Naoise Dolan has the potential to be the next great Irish novelist.

When I picked this up to carry on reading (after avoiding it for several days), I found myself sighing dramatically at it after a single sentence and I turned my Kindle straight back off again.

I was expecting Sally Rooney wit, depth, cleverness and beautiful writing from Exciting Times and this fell totally flat for me. Everything that has been promised by the praise and reviews was just not there that I could find. And considering how well this is doing already, I’m definitely in the minority here so if you like Rooney and My Year of Rest and Relaxation, definitely give it a go.
