I received a dARC from the publisher via Netgalley; this is my honest review.

Due to the format of this book, the formatting was wonky in the review copy I received. I had to put pieces together in order to be able to review this book.

First, I think the illustrations and artwork are wonderful in this book. It will definitely be appealing. I do wish that there were actual photos for some of the things instead of just illustrations. I have found that young readers really enjoy seeing non-fiction books with actual pictures.

I also really liked the vareity of text sizing and use of bold and italics. I can imagine that it is used to pull the reader along as they learn.

The Bible tells us that God created everything out of nothing, although it doesn't tell us how he did that. This book attempts to show how faith and science could be aligned. I'm not sure I agree with the big bang theory, but I did appreciate the end note and this quote by Deborah Haarsma, Astrophysicist: "We are free to explore the universe with joyful curiosity, relying on God's faithfulness, discovering all the wonderful 'hows" and 'whens' of creation, about which scripture tells us 'who' and 'why'".

Another neat feature included is a section of experiments and activities that you can do with children.

GOD MADE SPACE is written by Stephanie Bryant and Lizzie Henderson and illustrated by Steph Marshall. This short children's book is part of the "GOD MADE" series produced in collaboration with The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion. Other titles in the series are God Made the World and God Made Animals.
These websites were included for more exploration about science, faith, and what God has made.

The illustrations are colourful and interesting. The authors use scientific ideas to explain in simple language how they think God made the universe. They show and tell how to use science to see, explore and help understand what God has created in space.
There are some science experiments
and activities after the story that children might enjoy. The book ends with a note for parents or teachers about science and the Bible.
Thanks to Lion Hudson Limited, and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book. The thoughts expressed are my own.

I was super excited to read this book. Too often we get the idea that science and religion cannot coexist. Bryant sets out to prove that idea wrong, celebrating science as a part of the world God has created. The Big Bang, planets, stars, expansion. All of these ideas are expressed in simple language. It's not a full explanation but basic concepts that could lead to a deeper discussion.

I thought the illustration was great and the subject matter was fantastic. My 6 year old appreciated it but it was quite lengthy and had some disorganization to some of the thoughts. We are always looking for ways to show our children that God created it all including science and there can be both so I think it did hit the mark.

I have two problems with the content of this book. First, the authors mention the Big Bang, which to me is something that people refer to when they do not want acknowledge God as Creator; they want to believe that the universe just randomly happened. The Bible tells us that God spoke to create the heavens and the earth. He did not randomly create the universe; He had a plan before the beginning of time. Secondly, the authors use the phrase "over a long, long time" when talking about God filling His universe. It is unclear if the authors mean a long, long time as thousands of years or millions of years and perhaps that is the point; they wanted to leave that open to interpretation.

I did appreciate the authors focus on God as Creator and how we can use science to observe all the awesome things He created in space. Also, the experiments and activities at the end of the book look like a lot of fun and I know my kids would enjoy doing them.

God Made Space by Stephanie Bryant is a lovely children’s book about space. This book is easy to read and full of beautiful and colorful illustrations.

The books description states:
God has given us lots of clues about how He made the space. This is how we think He did it. Discover how the wonders of the universe were made, beginning with a huge explosion. Follow the process of how stars, asteroids, comets, moons and planets were formed. The 'God made' series encourages young children to explore and discover the world around them and tells them about the loving God who made it all.

I have enjoyed reading this book to my children. This book would be good to use in a science lesson or Sunday school lesson. It would also make a great gift for a child.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This book explains in an easy to understand format, how space and the universe were made. The book refers to god throughout but not in a forcefully way and the illustrations were lovely.
My little one is learning about space in school so she will love reading this book.
The back few pages after the story explain about god and space and how the bible connects with the two.
I really enjoyed this book and think its a great short book for children starting to learn about space.

Combines both religion and science but fails to engage the reader. I received a digital review copy through NetGalley.

Aside from a few of the illustrations not being my favourite - I really quite enjoyed this book! I love the relationship made between religion and science. This book is very simple and easy to read with lots of scientific facts for a young, curious mind. I am always looking for ways to get kids more interested in space, so I love this idea.
