I received a free advance reader's copy in exchange for my honest review. Thanks NetGalley & Bookouture!

This was the second book I tried by Shalini Boland. A few months ago I tried another book by her, The Other Daughter and decided I had to try more books by her.

In One Of Us Is Lying, Boland tells the story from three different viewpoints, Kelly, Fiona and Tia. They have been best friends since school. Tia is the first one to experience something odd. She picks up her daughter, Rosie, from school. Rosie seems to be quite disturbed by something and eventually comes straight out and asks Tia if she is a murderer. Confused and horrified, Tia tries to sort it out but cannot help wondering who would start a rumor like that. Fiona and Kelly are also experiencing some very unusual occurrences as well. The three of them are quite worried that these events will destroy the lives they worked so hard to build for themselves and their families.

Boland has a knack for building the suspense in a story. Every time I was just getting into the story as narrated by one of the friends, she would switch to another friend and leave me practically salivating to know what happened next.

There was also a few interludes where someone recounted a disturbing incident and the support of her friends after it happened. Eventually we found out exactly who it was. These interludes were placed well enough that I was left wondering which one of the friends it could be, if it was even one of them.

However, I found the grand reveal to be a bit melodramatic. It felt a bit forced for me and I was a bit disappointed considering how explosive the book was in the beginning. I would still read more of Boland's books but this one just did not quite do it for me in the end.

Suitable audience: Adults and older teens who enjoy thrillers.

Recurrent themes: Toxic relationship. Secrets. Rape. Betrayal of trust. Blackmail.

Violence: There is mention of a sexual assault in the book which may be a trigger. A stabbing. Mention of domestic violence.
Sexual Content: Mild
Profanity: Some instances of obscene language
Religious Themes: None
Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Social drinking

Another excellent fast-paced, page-turner of a story from Shalini!
A rollercoaster of a read that follows three women who have been friends since childhood. When weird things start happening to each of them, they all individually start to become more paranoid, but without confiding in each other, they don't realise that the instances may be linked, until it is too late!

First, I want to thank Shalini Boland, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Shalini Boland is back again with another must read book called One Of Us Is Lying! Her storylines are so creative and mind blowing that your jaw just drops open at times. Shalini literally thinks outside of the boxes for her stories which makes me one of her biggest fans.

Right off the bat she captured my attention and pulled on my heart strings right in the prologue. Then bam the first chapter yet again pulled harder on the heart strings but with questions. From there the accusations of the book got good-real good.

This book could be summed up as something ripped from the headlines that could be also made into a Netflix original movie. I highly suggest she submit this book for book to movie. It would be a hit!!!

Shalini picked an amazing cast of strong female characters in this book. Each with their own issues going on in resulting to the present day storyline. She also goes back to the past to fill us in what happened back then.

There were moments in this book that I didn’t even see coming! I was totally shocked by this! Only Shalini could have pulled off such a climax!! Incredible job!

On a side note I want to say that I am sorry for the loss of Shalini’s Mom who passed away of Ovarian Cancer and never got to read her latest novel. She was the one who installed the love of reading and poetry at a young age for Shalini. She was such a proud Mom and read all of her books. May she RIP.

This will be a great beach read for lovers of chick lit. However, that's not my genre, so I'll just leave it at that.
I appreciate the ARC in exchange for a review.

3 friends Fiona, Tia and Kelly have suspense, secrets and lots of twists and turns throughout. Its a pretty fast psychological thriller of a book and it grabbed me from the very first page. I would've finished it 2 days sooner if I didn't stop to take a break to sew a few masks. Another great book by this great author!!! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. I loved it!

This was a rollercoaster of a read, a fast paced psychological thriller about 3 old friends, each with their own secrets and each having weird things happen to them, however, not confiding in each other, Tia has been sent compromising photographs in the post, Kelly has “adopted” a stranger into her house and Fiona has a surprise tax audit!!! Each one becoming more paranoid about the other, is there someone meddling in their lives and if so, why?

The story was told from each of their perspectives so although we knew each of their stories, they didn’t know each others…. It took for one of them to be arrested before they rallied and to what led to an explosive twist ending.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, kept my interest throughout and was a quick read, one of those where you just need to know what happens next.

This is the story of three friends – Tia, Kelly and Fiona. They have all been friends since they were children. Tia, who lives with her husband and children, finds herself the subject of cruel rumours. Kelly is a widow who has 2 sons and she finds herself allowing a complete stranger to stay in her home. Fiona lives with her controlling husband, and one day she receives a visit from HM Revenue and Customs who are investigating her. They are three different women, with three different situations and these are all capable of destroying these women’s lives. Who is behind it all, and what will it take to stop them?

I’ve read a few books by this author and have always found them to be gripping thrillers with plenty of tension and suspense – this one was no different! Told from each woman’s perspective, the story jumps straight into the action with Tia finding herself shunned because of rumours spreading about her. The three women were likeable characters, if not slightly naïve at times! They obviously have no idea what is happening to them, or why, and despite them all being friends, they keep their problems to themselves until the situations come to a head and become unmanageable.

I became completely gripped by this story from very early on and by the time I was a few chapters in I found it very difficult to put the book down for fear of missing something. The writing was captivating and the chapters were fairly short and snappy, leaving plenty of time for ‘just one more chapter’. This is definitely one fantastic psychological thriller, with the right amount of ‘chill’, plenty of ‘thrill’ and the kind of storyline that keeps you thinking the whole way through. There are some subjects which may be uncomfortable for some, but dealt with in a sensitive manner. There are also a few characters who aren’t particularly likeable, but this is what makes the book so exciting! All the loose ends were tied up nicely and the book was a very enjoyable read!

Full of drama, suspense and more twists and turns than you can imagine. This author hasn’t disappointed at all, and this is one of my favourite books by her. Highly recommended!

Tia, Fiona, and Kelly are best friends who grew up and still live in Ashridge Falls. It is located on a very large lake with a beautiful waterfall. There are many large homes owned by wealthy people. Each year, there is a regatta where many of the townspeople take part sailing. As it happens, the regatta is scheduled to happen in a few days.

Tia is married to Edward, a chef, and they are the parents of Rosie and Leo. Tia is called to the school where young Rosie has been upset and finally tells her mother that some kids said her mother had murdered someone. Shocked, she reassures Rosie and tells her it is untrue and to not listen to mean kids. Now, someone has sent her some scandalous photos of her with someone she doesn’t know. Who sent them and why? She is terrified that something may have happened when she recently had drinks out with her friends, but she doesn’t remember anything happening.

Fiona owns an interior design business called Salinger’s and works with mostly wealthy people to redesign large homes they have bought on the lake. Fiona is married to Nathan, a successful man who works in finance. They have chosen to not have any children. She has just gotten a visit from the tax department where they insist on doing a tax audit on her company. This makes Fiona very nervous and she hopes they don’t find anything wrong.

Kelly is a widow and the mother of two sons. She lives in a large home and her husband left her comfortably well off. She volunteers at a charity shop several days a week. Today, a young woman named Sophie came to her back door and is very frightened. It appears she is a victim of domestic abuse and against her better judgment, Kelly insists that Sophie stay with them for a few days until she can get her into a place where she will be safe.

These three women share an incident from the past that has had a profound affect on them. Now, someone is out for revenge saying they lied. Did they?

I did not see what was coming and why these women were being targeted by someone. The ending is nail biting and one you don’t want to miss. This author’s books are fabulous and I cannot wait to read more of them.

Three women, Tia, Fiona and Kelly have been friends since high school. They also share a secret. The women are all going through a difficult period in their lives. Someone is out to get them. Events that they have o control over start happening to the three women. But they don't confide in each other. So who is out to ruin their lives.

The chapters alternate between the three women and it's told from their perspectives. Rumours are being spread across the village where they all live and sinister text messages are being sent. I did guess who was behind it all and the reason why became evident before it was revealed. This does not stop my enjoyment of a story. The loose ends were tied up neatly. Not a thrilling read but it's still a page turner.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Shalini Boland for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Once again Ms. Boland has written a gripping story that grabs you on page one and doesn't let you go until the end of the book. With well-crafted characters that you care about and want to know more about.

The story takes place in Ashridge Falls and is about three friends in their early thirties who have been together since childhood. Tia Perry is married to Edward Perry a chef at a 4-star hotel, they have 2 children - 3 year old Leo and 5 year old Rosie. Fiona Salinger is married to Nathan Salinger and they have no children. Kelly Taylor is recently widowed and have 2 sons, 11 year old Ryan and 8 year old Sonny.

The story is told in the days Wednesday to Monday and then 7 months later. It starts with the suicide of an unidentified male and continues with strange things happening to the women. Little Rosie is upset when older boys in her school tell her that her mother is a "murdiner". Later Tia receives photos in the mail that she can't account for. Fiona finds her business the subject of a tax audit after a tip from someone. Kelly Taylor regularly volunteers at a charity shop and is always helping other out. So when a young woman arrives on her doorstep she wants to help her. Later rumours float about the school that Kelly kissed Sonny's teacher.

There are chapters that talk about an anonymous "she" that seems to link the three women and their past together. After one of them is arrested they start to piece things together but not before they are all in grave danger. The ending is brilliantly written and very exciting to read.

I've read Ms. Boland's books before and I highly recommend her. I will be looking forward to her next book. Definitely worth 5 stars and more.

"Mummy, why did you kill someone?"

Tia, Kelly & Fiona. Friends since childhood, each with a different secret. Can they trust one another? Who will they confide in?

Told in alternating chapters from the perspective of each friend, One Of Us Is Lying is a fast paced read that will keep you guessing from one chapter to the next. An interesting storyline packed full of secrets, lies and betrayal. An overall enjoyable read.

This was my first by Shalini Boland. I'm looking forward to reading her previous work.

Huge thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for my review copy!

Another five star read from Shalini Boland. I love her books as you can always rely on them to draw you in to the story.
Three friends who have known each other since school all seem happy but each of them have been sent messages from someone out to get them.
At first, Tia, Kelly and Fiona don’t share their fears with each other but as the reader, looking on, we get to know what’s happening in each of their lives and see how it’s affecting them.
When it starts to filter down to their children they realise something needs to change, but as they don’t know who has it in for them, what can they do?
This is a gripping read that had me hooked from the first few pages and didn’t let go.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Well this has been one hell of a novel from start to finish. It literally had my heart beat pacing pretty fast in certain places throughout the story.

As always with Shalini's books, this was truly well written and put together, it was outstanding storytelling. It certainly had me sitting on the edge of my seat in eager anticipation as to what will happen next and constantly trying to figure out how it would all end.

I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters, especially the main three, Fiona, Tia and Kelly, getting to discover their stories and the special friendship they'd had was so lovely to see.

All you readers out there who have made the excellent decision to read this book, you are in for a treat.

One of Us is Lying has all the ingredients of a great psychological thriller. Secrets, intrigue, characters not knowing who to trust. A plot that draws in the reader and then goes bang with a great twist. I enjoyed reading this book although I wasn't as captivated by it as I have been with other Shalini Boland novels that I've read. For me it just lacked that wow factor I felt with her other books that would have made this a five star recommendation.

A brilliant read that felt scarily real! Another smashing read from Shalini Boland

I love Shalini Boland's books, particularly her last one, The Other Daughter so I was so excited to receive a copy of One of us is Lying.

This is the story of three women, Tia, Kelly and Fiona, who have been friends since childhood. All at the same time, each of them is going through a bad patch and they don't know why or who is targeting them and for what reason. For reasons of their own, they each keep it to themselves and do not confide in the others. They all wonder if it has anything to do with a thing that happened in school years ago.

I found it difficult to "get into" this book at the beginning and had to keep checking back on names when I forgot who was who. But one I passed that stage, the story flowed and the characters came to life and the author really turned up the heat at the end of the book.

This wasn't my favourite book from the author but I would still recommend if you are looking for a sold psychological thriller. 3.5 stars rounded up to four.

Thank you Bookouture, NetGalley and the author for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

One of Us is Lying is bestselling and prolific crime writer Shalini Boland’s latest standalone psychological thriller, and although I have had a love-hate relationship with her books I found this to be one of her most captivating and compulsive to date. It revolves around three women who have enjoyed each other's friendship since they were young girls attending Ashridge Falls high school back in the day. Tia, who resides with her husband Ed and two children, seemingly in domestic bliss, is taken aback by the cruel rumours that have begun circulating with them apparently starting up at her daughters’ school. Shortly after an unwelcome present arrives in the mail addressed to her. Widowed mother of two Kelly is still mourning the loss of her husband and trying her utmost to provide everything she can for her children. She is also the victim of gossip and rumour at the school. Fiona and Nathan are wedded and apparently another case of blissful union to outsiders. They are rolling in money and want for nothing. Then one day Fiona receives a couple of unexpected visitors whilst at work.

This is a compulsive read full of secrets, lies, betrayal and suspicion with an interesting focus on the nature of small-town gossip and how insidiously it can creep under a persons skin. It's a gripping and easy read to get into and is fast-paced as well as the three different perspectives making it into a well-rounded story. A tense and exciting thriller, it is a book filled with an engaging and interesting cast of characters and I found myself flying through it rapidly. It really is the perfect relaxing read. If you look at Ms Boland’s bibliography then you quickly come to the realisation that literally every book has a similar title, cover and synopsis and that often lets them down. But when you come to pick them up the difference is apparent with some more captivating than others. This is definitely my favourite for a long time. There is a strong aspect of women’s fiction/chick-lit so this is a perfect fit if you enjoy both genres. Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

Another definite must-read from Shalini Boland! One Of Us Is Lying is another win - twisted, tantalizing, un-put-downable tale of three childhood friends who suddenly face daunting and frightening threats. Do they dare confide in each other, their partners or keep their own counsel? Who is after them and what do they want? This one will entertain from the beginning to the very end!
