I loved the idea of this book when I saw it, it's ideal in these overstimulated times to be more mindful and many of us should turn to a book like this to help us be creative and mindful.

Very creative way to find peace through artwork. I enjoyed the book it has some great principles to help you unburded yourself with creativity.

I studied fine arts for several years, and even today, when my job it's not involved with this field, I feel very connected with the creative part of myself. I'm always rediscovering a simple way to express myself through arts. And this book was perfect because I could enjoy the simple act of drawing because I feel to and because it's a sort of necessity.
“Come to drawing as if you've never done it before. Come to drawing with a curiosity about the marks you could make and the world you could explore. Come to drawing as a beginner. Being a beginner is the best thing to be, because as be-ginners we can simply be.”
You don't need to be an artist to enjoy drawing, so, let's do it, and embrace your journey.

This short book has a good number of practical exercises. I wish, though, there had been more on how to quiet the critical mind while drawing. For many, that is the biggest obstacle to making art. I know that it is in part a book about freeing oneself from self-criticism through art, but the problem seems circular in a way that I wish the book had addressed.

This book is a thoughtful and inspiring work, aimed at helping aspiring artists to reflect on how they can apply their creativity to the art of drawing in a meditive way.
I found it very interesting, and will try to use this method in my art in future.

Thank you for providing me with a copy of this e-book in exchange for a review.

The book provides a range of basic drawing exercises used as a means to be focussed and mindful. It is a useful introduction to mindfulness and to drawing and the exercises are easy to understand and encourage a regular drawing and therefore mindfulness practice.

I am only part way through the book but will continue, and would recommend this to anyone who maybe struggles with the concept of mindfulness and wants to find practical ways of accessing mindfulness.

This slim volume is perfect for quarantine--or any time. Greenhalgh takes the reader through a series of exercises to assist in unlocking the brain from daily concerns and into a space of pure creativity. This sounds very philosophical, but the exercises are practical and easy to start.

This is a book for people who want to include drawing as part of a personal meditation or relaxation programme. However, it's more about the mindfulness side rather than a 'how to'. I personally was looking forward to the opposite! That said, It's still practical, easy to follow and there are some good ideas there but for me, it doesn't quite hit the mark or go deep enough.

I really do not like a book that has no art or art demonstrations.
When the cover says the word 'art' i have certain expectations.
The mindfullness that is mentioned is an easy guide to follow.
The book gives you assignments.
The author shares their experiences with the reader, they give you an insight to their process.

I'm recently focussing on drawing again after procrastinating for quite some time. This book is short, and the goal is to motivate you to do what you like, drawing! The words will give you a boost. But still, reading this book isn't enough. This book is just a tool to help you with being creative and productive and also be mindful. Like, giving you an assurance that it is okay if the results are not what you are looking for. I think this book is for people who is really new in drawing and need to be motivated.

There's a lot to like here with some potentially interesting exercises, but unfortunately it isn't working for me and I won't be continuing. I'm sure it would be a great resource for others who would get more out of the exercises and advice on mindfulness.

There are a lot of these mindfulness books in this series, all focused towards one group or another. They seem to follow the same format and contain basically the same information. As an individual you only need to by the ‘Mindfulness and .........’ for you. As a library that could me 20 copies of basically the same thing with a slight twist ’Mindfulness and the long distance runner’ ‘Mindfulness and the hairdresser’ ‘Mindfulness and the dog walker’ the list goes on!

This book embraces drawing as a medium to connect with our mindfulness. It reminds us that everyone can draw, no matter the perceived “skill” level. While there are exercises, this is not a how to draw book. The exercises all combine mindfulness and drawing. There is a breakdown on the properties of mindfulness and the Zen Buddhism philosophy that mindfulness is based on, so that one has a better understanding of this term we hear so much lately as a way to connect with ourselves in a world of constant disconnect.

Some really inspiring artwork would have made a huge difference especially as the book is aimed at beginner artists or anyone wanting to have a go at drawing. Some of the exercises were good though and I liked the parts where the author recounted her own experiences. My favourite chapter was the one on landscapes. It might make a good gift if paired with another book that would give some drawing instruction.

Would have liked more artwork. The tips were helpful, and I very much enjoyed the quotes but it felt like it was lacking visuals.
