I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
I gave One Perfect Morning by Pamela Crane a solid 5 stars because it kept me enthralled from beginning to end. This gripping thriller skillfully weaves together the lives of three college friends, whose families and marriages are forever changed by the fallout of events from two decades earlier. Crane does a masterful job of crafting characters that feel so real, I found myself truly caring about their fates. Each of their stories is packed with emotional highs and lows, and I felt their joys, disappointments, and heartbreaks right along with them.
The story’s fast-paced, suspenseful structure kept me hooked and constantly guessing what would happen next. Crane’s knack for tension and drama adds layers to the story, making it as much an emotional journey as a thriller. One Perfect Morning is a nail-biting, emotionally charged read that doesn’t disappoint. It’s a book that any thriller fan will devour and remember.
Fantastic thrilled fast paced I enjoyed it so much this book kept me guessing from start too finish this is worth a read
This was an audiobook I listened to whilst walking the dogs and it made those walks fly by. Robin, Mackenzie, and Lily have been friends for a very long time but there is so many different secrets - Cheating husbands, controlling behaviour, lies, addiction, rape and murder. Each of the friends has a story to discover and there are many secrets and lies going on with this group of friends. Their perfect lives are definitely not what they seem and all is revealed with each of the characters as the story progresses. It definitely makes you wonder about all the 'perfect' relationships that people like to portray although hopefully not too many are like the ones in this book.
This book was a twisting turning rollercoaster and I loved every page. With some brilliant likeable and unlikeable characters and twists I really didn't see coming I would recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of thrillers with multiple suspects.
The build up in this one was fraught and unnerving and the payoff was well worth it.
Desperate housewives vibes!
Secrets, scandal & murder...
I couldn't put it down, love love loved it!
Robin, Mackenzie and Lily have been friends since their school days but now betrayal lies and murder threaten their friendships. With plenty of twists and turns along they way this book will keep you page turning well into the night.
This story centres around three women - Robin, Mackenzie and Lily - who have known each other since their teens. They’ve grown up together and have always been extremely close.
The beginning of the story is very intriguing and opens with a woman planning to kill her husband. It then goes back to nine days previously and what has happened to lead to this. There are also flashbacks to twenty years before, at the beginning of their friendship.
I didn’t particularly like any of the characters and found it difficult to distinguish between the women as they were a bit samey.
There’s an awful lot going on between them, and many secrets and revelations threaten to break the twenty year friendship.
At times, it felt like there was an unrealistic amount going on in such a short time frame and it was tricky to keep track of it all.
Some of the issues raised could have benefitted from more depth, but because there are so many other things going on, I felt they got lost.
Despite this, it’s quite a readable book and the plot definitely picks up in the last quarter or so.
Overall the book was quite good, but a bit unrealistic for me with an underwhelming ending.
Thanks to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for a copy to review.
Thank you for providing me with a review copy of this book. Enjoyed reading, some nice plot twists, would recommend....
Really enjoyed this book. It did give me vibes of Big Little Lies. The author is new to me but I will look out for more.
Fast paced psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns. Appealing characters and a neat conclusion.
This book kept me enthralled all way to the end. The stories of three college friends, their husbands and families were intertwined brilliantly and they impacted by events from twenty years earlier. I liked the characters who were so well crafted that they felt so real. A nail biting thriller that delivered a good read. ThNk you netgalley for the ARC.
I went into this somewhat comparing it to Liane Moriarty's books, particularly the likes of Big Little Lies.
And if you've read Liane's books, I've got a feeling that this one will fall short for you.
The three main characters were simply too similar for me to easily distinguish between the three of them. That and the fact that there are that many characters, it made it hard to remember who was who. And this really detracted from the story for me as I would have to double check and go back to see who was who.
The story itself was intriguing and kept me reading but there were just too much going on with too many similar charcters for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is definitely don't judge a book by its cover! Its a dark and twisted story. An opening scene with a murder. A group of friends who have been together since college and an event at a party that goes to reveal all the secrets. So many twists and turns. A really good read.
I really really enjoyed this book but I did really struggle at times to remember who was who, and who was with who and what their histories were!
I eventually worked out a little thing In my head - the O comes after M , so that Owen was with Mackenzie .... Was a bit of a nightmare going through that at the beginning of most chapters as the chapters were told from a particular characters point of view.
That said, I still really enjoyed the story and would definitely recommend it.
Was very fast paced and there was so much going on with all the characters.
4 stars purely because of the confusion with the characters.
What messy lives. Three friends with secrets but there’s so much going on it was hard to keep track
I did get the hang of who was who but wonder if some secrets should remain just that. Secret
Having said that it was an interesting read
I very much enjoyed this book. It has a good story and excellent main characters. I would definately recommend this book.
This book’s blurb intrigued me and I was looking forward to reading the story. However I didn’t particularly enjoy this book as the 3 main characters blurred into each other, particularly Mackenzie and Robin who seemed to have the same ‘voice’. The friendship that these women had was supposedly so strong but one was having an affair with another one’s husband, one was a drug addict with no help from her friends, one was an abused wife with again no help from her friends, one had been raped - I know that’s four issues but one or more of these descriptions apply to each of the women. There was just too much going on in the story, almost like every 21st century problem had been thrown at it. I persevered and finished this book but couldn’t recommend it to a friend.
Lily, Mackenzie and Robin have all been friends since their college days but, when there's a murder in their neighbourhood, they suddenly find the foundations of their friendship rocked. All three women have very plausible reasons for wanting the victim dead - so who's hiding the truth?
I really wanted to love this book, but if I'm honest it missed the mark slightly for me. It felt as though it wanted to be in the same style as Liane Moriarty's books, but this was nowhere near as polished. The three women were hard to distinguish between for me; they all have very similar voices and too little of their own personality. I also found that the story became too convoluted in places.
Overall I would still rate this three stars, as I appreciate the effort that must have gone into plotting a story of this kind, and it kept me intrigued enough that I persisted and read through to the end. However, this one just didn't quite work for me.
A gripping read, constantly twisting and turning. The characters are unravelling right up until the very end. A real page turner. Highly Recommended. This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more.
Three women, Lily, Mackenzie and Robin Have known each other since college, have remained the best of friends and live in the same neighbourhood.
Each of then has a secret which threatens to destroy their equilibrium and end their friendship forever.
This is a fast paced rollercoaster of a story which I found difficult to put down.
