Alex Lake is at the top of the game. An electrifying read of 2020.
I was intrigued when I saw the cover of this book. I was really desperate to know more about the story. If my children are kidnapped and the ransom is my wife then what will I do? Whom I save? Children or wife? And that made me intrigued.
It's ending was really satisfying. I was feeling as if I was watching a Hollywood movie.
I loved it's characters, dialogues, narration and most of all its editing.
I don't want to reveal anything about the story because just now I've finished it and I'm full of spoilers.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Harper Fiction for giving me an advance copy.

An excellent psychological thriller.
Matt Westbrook only turned his back for a moment. But when he looks around, his car – with his three young children inside – has vanished.
A ransom…
Panicked, Matt assumes a car thief has got more than he bargained for, but then he starts to receive text messages: This is a kidnap. If you want to see your children again, you will exchange them for your wife.
A choice…
Matt and his wife Annabelle are horrified. They can’t involve the police, or their children will be killed. Which means they have to choose: Annabelle, or their children. Either option is unthinkable. But one is inevitable. And they have only hours to make their decision… .
I didn't expect that twist to come which came in the middle of the story.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Harper Fiction for giving me an advance copy of this awesome psychological thriller.

spoiler alert ** 3.5 stars

I've read Alex Lake before... this means I'm not going to trust anyone or anything in the story.
So,every single character that came up,I was suspicious of,and that included the main characters.
I suspected everyone of taking those kids.
Once the kidnap swap had been done there were plenty of moments where you begin to wonder who was that delusional about Annabelles life.
Some tense moments and a completely bonkers villain.
Nicely done.
