Enjoyed reading learning about these brave Irish Women who served incww1.A group off women I enjoyed learning about.#netgalley #penn&sword
An interesting non fiction about women who served in the Great War. It nice learning about women who served in first World War even if it was for another country.
Thanks to Netgalley for granting my wish. All opinions expressed are my own.
As the title suggests this is a nonfiction glance at Irishwomen and their involvement during World War I and into the 1920s. It's well researched and is accompanied by archival images and actual quotations from many people of the time period. But it's a very dry book and for me, I wasn't really interested until the last few chapters when there were more testimony and glimpses into individual women's stories. Those last chapters are what make it more a 3 than a 2-star rating. Since I am labeled as an educator reviewer on Netgalley, I am not sure this would be something that would engage even my most devoted history-loving students at the high school level.
