You know it's good when you immediately finish a book and text your Mum to tell her to buy it straight away. I tore through this in just a few sessions and I loved every page. I find witness protection a fascinating subject and felt the novel had just the right amount of fact mixed with fiction, despite it being a difficult topic to find information on.
I liked the main characters and felt it was a great fast-paced read.
Plenty of twists and an unexpected finale kept me hook. I don't always read this genre but this book was certainly worth it. I'll read other books from the author.
This book was a hell of a ride, particularly the second half, and I really enjoyed the ending – which I wasn't expecting at all.
There was this particular section in the book where I could not move because of the tension and fear I was experiencing. I was petrified and couldn't help but feel exactly what the main characters were feeling.
I found that this story was easy to read and the subject absolutely fascinating. I don't think I ever read anything related to witness protection, so that was extremely interesting.
Huge congratulations to the author; this book was addictive and extremely twisty!
Just this minute finished How to Disappear by @gillianmauthor I’ve read all of Gillians books and this without a doubt her best book. I read it in three hours and I haven’t moved not even to eat my tea. Absolutely gripping from start to finish. I loved every page of it. The characters were so fascinating. I love how authentically this author writes. This may be one of the best thrillers I’ve read this year. An absolute stellar ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read #amreading #bookstagram #bookaholic #thriller
I had such high hopes for this book after reading the blurb.
It took me ages to get into it as I felt it was a slow burner.
It took me ages to read it as it wasn’t a book that ‘i couldn’t put down’.
I’m glad I persevered with it as I did enjoy the ending very much as I didn’t see it coming.
Thank you for allowing me to read this book.
This book was absolutely outstanding!! Cleverly written, well thought out and plot and an absolute joy to read. So much so, I went out and bought the paperback version straight away!! Well done, Gillian. I look forward to your next masterpiece.
I absolutely love Gillian McAllisters books. How to Disappear didn’t grip me like all the others but what a fantastic ending that was. 3.5*
Nothing I say or write will do this book the justice it deserves. There are so many twists and turns, I feel like I'm on a roller coaster! Just as soon as you think you have the plot figured out, it knocks you from the sideline! This book is really well written, and worth every minute of your time.

Once I got going I enjoyed this book. Throughout there was a feeling of fear for the family and not seeing how it would end. I wasn’t sure about the interaction between Aidan and the gang and felt the end was a bit neatly packaged but overall it was very readable .
What a ride this book is! There are so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, very fast paced and a page turner. I really liked all the main characters, especially Zara and everything she’d been through. The plot was well drawn out, the characters well-defined, and it’s a must read for all thriller lovers!
Wow! I loved this. Fast paced and really well written character development with some good twists to the story.
An absolute rollercoaster of a read that draws you in from the very beginning. A gripping plot perfectly paced.
Such a good read. Amazing characters and so well written, The characters were so real, I felt for them and the shocking decisions they had to make.
This one kept me guessing. Parts of it was terrifying. I kind of guessed the ending though. Great book!
A witness to murder tells a white lie which goes very sour, and a family are torn apart. Cleverly plotted with realistic, warm characters. The roller coaster continues at speed till the final twist. A very satisfying read.
This is an unusual intriguing story told with splendid authenticity. I was hooked on page One. The theme stretches empathy to the limits, and you can’t wait to find out what happens. Lauren and her daughter, Zara are swept into witness protection – not as criminals sheltering from public retribution but victims in extreme danger after a high-profile court case. Admittedly, I thought they were a feckless family over their safety, but it kickstarts the dramatic suspense massively and propels the plot forward with leaps and bounds. I felt myself becoming quite cross at the risks they took and their rule-breaking! The ending almost made me pass out with astonishment as it was so unprecedented. I implore everyone to read this compelling book.
Gillian McAllister never disappoints, and I think this might be her best one yet. Not only is it full of intrigue and suspense, but it has heart and feeling, making you totally invested in the fate of this family who love each other so much. I loved it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
Brilliant. A truly good read that challenges your mindset and keeps on surprising.
A very clever idea really well done.
How easy would it be to disappear? Very, when the logistics are managed by the witness protection team. But what about our feelings, our hopes, dreams, loves and loved ones? This novel picks apart just how horrendous a decision it would be, to simply disappear overnight and to never again see, speak to or hear from those we care about.
Faced with an impossible choice, our characters make impossible decisions, but find that living by those decisions is a lot harder than they had thought.
If you don't find yourself looking at your life and wondering what you'd be prepared to sacrifice for the person you love best, you are an emotional wasteland!

This is such a good book with some twist and turns
Thanks NetGalley
I really enjoyed this book. It must be very difficult to write about witness protection as it is, rightly, shrouded in mystery. I think the author did a great job. It really got me thinking about how anyone would cope with leaving their whole life behind at a moment's notice and never seeing or hearing from loved ones again. The story unrolled at pace and the ending was a good twist.
