Zara and her mum are forced into witness protection, leaving behind their family when her persona of Girl A falls through on a murder case.

This book is full of twists and turns, not only giving us suspense but a deep insight into the emotional bond between a parent and child, whereby you'd do anything to help them. This is my second Gillian McAllister book and I am still obsessed with her books! I can't wait for her next one to come along.

Gillian McAllister, is one of my favourite authors and she didn't disappoint with this new book. It had a great plot, brilliant characters and unputdownable. It's tense, twisty and full of suspense. It's also a little sad but uplifting at the same time. I absolutely devoured it and I was shouting at it as I was reading it. It's absolutely gripping and I'd highly recommend. Thanks to NetGally and the Publishers for allowing me to read it. Gillian has written another bestseller and I can't wait to see what comes next!.

How to Disappear is a fantastic book. I felt so many emotions right to the end, then had a book hangover for days.

The book focuses on the story of Zara, who witnesses a murder, changing her life forever. I don't want to give any spoilers, but after reporting what she knows to police her family ends up in witness protection and in a battle to fight for their lives, family and happiness. I had no idea what was going to happen right to the end, with so many twists, it really is an edge of your seat book.

I've read a lot of thrillers, so finding one that really has the wow factor is always a fantastic feeling, and Gillian does exactly that with this book. I devoured the whole book in a couple of days. It was very intense.

Even if you're not a particular thriller fan, I'd highly recommend you give this a try.

Thank you to Netgalley and Gillian McAllister for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I genuinely didn’t think I’d enjoy this book very much. Oh, how wrong I was. It had me glued from the first few pages. The witness protection aspect made it really interesting. I thought this book was tense, dark and truly gripping. I look forward to reading more from Gillian. Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin publishing and Gillian McAllister for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I thought this book well written. It details the story of a girl forced to go into witness protection after being a discredited witness to a murder. In the world of social media and mobile phones, the narrative describes how hard it is to cut ties and leave friends/family behind (and if the ties can’t be cut how easy it is to be found). As the main main character tries to live her life her previous actions slowly start to catch up with her.

A tough read in a good way. Truly interesting about witness protection. How awful if it is not your doing that puts you there. A family torn apart. The writing is so good and you can feel the dark, loneliness of losing your identity and living in a remote strange place. A really good thriller with some great twists. I really enjoyed this latest from Gillian McAllister.

Twisty thriller that had me gripped.

The way it’s written from multiple perspectives keeps you guessing and wondering where the truth actually lies.

Another utterly brilliant book by Gillian. McAllister. I devoured this book in two sittings and was completely engrossed in it. It was such a good story with great characters that at times took me on a rollercoaster of a ride. Fantastic.

Loved this book, my first Gillian Mcallister but it won't be my last.
I read it over 2 days and stayed up late to finish it as I was utterly gripped and HAD to know what happened.
I loved the characters and was totally rooting for them but it had so many twists and turns that I had no idea where it was going to go and at one point I burst into tears because I was so shocked, proper ugly crying!.
I haven't given much thought to witness protection before and it was quite shocking to think something like this could happen to anyone just for being an innocent witness, in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I liked how the story was told by each character in turn and I enjoyed the ending, even after the roller coaster of emotions I went through to get there.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for my eARC in return for my honest review.

I'll most definitely be in the minority squad here but o just didn't like it (runs away and hides quickly)

I've previously read most of Gillian McAllister's novels but I just could not get into this one and believe me I tried! I put down, left a few days, picked up, persevered BUT I couldn't for the life of me get a hold on it or more to the point it didn't grab hold of me or my attention.

I think the main problem for me was the characters which if you've read any of my previous reviews you'll know I have to have a connection of some sort whether it be an emotional attachment to the storyline or being able to relate to a character.

I just felt that the characters as a whole just made stupid decisions!

The only saving grace was the twist at the end which I did not see coming at all.

For that reason I'll rate it a 2.5*

Thanks to netgalley and Penguin UK for the ARC.

I read so many psychological thrillers that they do tend to blur into one after the fact, with the occasional extraordinary exception. "How to Disappear" absolutely falls into the latter camp, as much for its beautifully realised and complex characters as for its twisty, nervewracking plot.

Lauren's daughter, Zara, witnessed a terrible crime, and now her identity has been leaked online, she is no longer safe and their only option is to go into witness protection. Lauren must leave everything and everyone she knows behind to protect her daughter - including her husband Aiden, who refuses to leave his daughter from a previous marriage. But as Lauren and Zara struggle to adjust to their new lives, it quickly becomes clear that the people looking for Zara will stop at nothing until they get their revenge, and the slightest mistake could give them away...

I've never been disappointed by a Gillian McAllister book yet, and honestly I think this might be her best to date. The most terrifying kind of thrillers for me are the ones that explore an idea that could happen to any of us if we were unlucky - and this one was chilling in that respect. The story was well-told and brilliantly written with complex characters, clever twists, and an ending that took my breath away. Fantastic - I will be gifting this one for sure!

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley who provided me with a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a well plotted page turner. It kept me up until the small hours needing to know what would happen next. Although I was at times frustrated with some of the characters and their motivations, I really enjoyed the story.

Wow - this book really kept me guessing until the end and even then I had to read the last chapter again - I fell hook line and sinker and thought I knew how things would turn out. How wrong I was!

From the first chapter, I was completely invested in the story and couldn't stop reading. I really liked how the author gave us chapters from different characters so that we can get different points of views and really find out how characters are feeling and how they are trying to move on with their lives.

Gillian McAllister is really just getting better with every story and I know I am in for an absolute treat when I know she has a book coming....

#HowtoDisappear #NetGalley A gripping thriller with a different perspective than the usual crime thrillers this time told through the eyes of a mother and daughter who have had to go into witness protection and the family they left behind. well written with plenty of action, I did not want to put this down! An ending filled with tension and sadness and still twists and turns. An excellent read.

Absolutely spectacular- some amazing writing, I loved this book.

Laughed, cried, cringed, felt sick, empathised, such an emotional rollercoaster.

I can’t praise this enough. Devoured in one sitting. The highest of praise. 5 stars.

This is pacey yet touching. There are moments when you have to suspend disbelief, but it's worth it for the thriller ride. I devoured it in one go.

An interesting premise. I didn’t take to any of the characters but I was intrigued by their predicament and their behaviour. An explosive ending you won’t see coming. A great read.

This is one of the best books I have read in ages and I literally could not put it down. I just had to find out what was going to happen next. It's a testament to people who, despite their fear will still testify and stand up for what they believe in. Gillian - you're the reason my housework didn't get done for the last few days and I'm looking forward to reading more of your books.
