No Regrets is a book I will likely forget I read.
I found the 3 women all quite irritating and very immature. They all had serious miscommunication issues which in turn led to two of them cheating. Some of the writing is pretty cliche and plot predictable but at the same time I needed more back story. Why were they the way they were?
This was likened to Dawn O’Porter books - I say read Dawn O’Porter instead.
I struggled to read this and found myself almost skimming pages to get to the end. Sadly just was unable to get into it.
Easy to devour fluff with no real substance. Easy to skim read by a pool on a sun bed in one sitting.
3 stars.
This is a lighthearted read that unfortunately I could not get into. I could not relate to the characters or the story and did not finish.
No Regrets was a fast, fun and quick read for me. A lighter book between all the darker and mysterious thrillers I have been reading recently.
Whilst the endings were generally happy for our three main characters, Ana, Stella and Dixie, the author was not afraid to explore the deeper and darker sides of relationships in this telling of friendship and honesty.
Ana, Stella and Dixie are a group of friends that I think all women dream of. Those you can spill your secrets too without judgement, laugh at your mistakes and know that they 100% have your back. The honesty between these three was so refreshing to see and something I definitely wish I had in my life.
I do wish, however, that this had been set over three books, with each friend taking the role of central character and their own turn in the limelight. I feel the author tried to delve and explor far too much within the 400 pages provided and this on turn meant that I didn't feel quite the connection to each character that I would have liked. Creating a series would have allowed the reader to understand each character a little more and to truly allow more exploration into their relationships and friendship.
That said, for a debut novel this wasn't bad at all. It provided the right amount of fun and frivolity between back to back thrillers.
Thank you to @netgalley for the advanced copy of the book.
No Regrets follows 3 ladies Stella, Ana and Dixie all around the age of 40. They've been friends forever and are each at different stages in their lives.
Stella is married with 2 children, but her relationship with her husband is not as good as it once was. Ana is trying to have a baby, but is the man she's with the right one, or did the right one get away? And Dixie is an independent lady, she's a bit of a wild child who enjoys the company of men on her own terms and isn't looking to settle down...
This book is well written and I read it in two days, which is super quick for me. It's a very light, easy read, and is the perfect book for a summer holiday. There's lots of laughs, sex and a few tears thrown in along the way. The characters are likeable and I think you'll warm to all three ladies for different reasons. I would have liked a bit more depth to their personalities, I particularly wanted to know more about Ana's colour coded wardrobe for each day of the week?!
It's a good book for a bit of escapism and if you enjoy a light read then give this a go.
Really nice relaxing read, great for the summer holidays.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
A fun story but I felt let down and disappointed by this book and couldn't finish it - sorry!
Obviously it wasn't one for me
Sexy, spicy and fun, this novel follows the loves and lives of three women as they negotiate romance, raising a family and the supermarket run surrounded by other wannabe perfect women. Ideal for fans of Sex in the City, Yummy Mummies and the Real Housewives of various cities around the world! Surprisingly raunchy and with an eye-catching cover, this is a perfect poolside accessory, or a bit of escapism if you can't leave town yet!
'No Regrets' is a book about three women in their forties who are living life, making mistakes and trying to deal with the changes in their lives.
I really wanted to like this book, but I found myself getting bored very easily and not really wanting to read it. I could not connect with any of the characters and found their lives to be boring. I also did not find the friendship between these three women to be believable.
I think this book was simply not for me but I am sure a lot of people will be able to relate and enjoy this book more than I did.
Thank you to HQ for providing me with an advance copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was left feeling very disappointed in this book.
Three women are best friends. Stella, Ana and Dixie. As they begin to approach their forties, none of them are happy with their lives.
Stella misses her career, Ana is desperate for a baby but can't stop thinking of another man and Dixie who has always been happily flitting from man to man, appears to have found someone to settle down with.
I didn't like or feel any connection at all between the three women.
No idea why I bothered finishing this.
No Regrets by Tabitha Webb
A book of three forty year olds all at a crossroad in their lives and each want different things. It follows each of their stories.
It is reasonably well written though at times it just follows their sexploits more than anything but it is a quick easy enjoyable read .
Though I personally would like slightly more of a storyline than sex. Though I do enjoy a good steamy novel if the story line matches.
3.5/5 but would have been 4/5 with slightly more to storyline.
Such a funny light hearted read. I enjoyed this book and did not want to put it down. A perfect story about true friendship. I definitely recommend you reading this.
This story is told from the perspectives of three friends, who are all nearing their 40's.
The varying perspectives added a new depth to the story.
I did enjoy this book, however I found it somewhat lacking and it didnt fully grasp my attention.
Ana, Stella and Dixie have been friends for years. Now they are nearing their 40's their lives are changing. The book is told from each of their points of view which I liked.
The story is about three friends, three women who are all at some kind of crossroads in their lives. The realisation that your life shouldn't be lived for others, and your pleasure and happiness shouldn't be structured around the needs of others either. Sometimes you have to be selfish to get what you need, as opposed to what other people think you want.
Is Coco the forbidden fruit or is it a case of being drawn in by the beauty and lack of parallels. Does the thrill of something new give Stella a new lease on life or is it more about the stagnation providing the perfect opportunity for squashed emotions and previously buried attractions to rear their head?
I didn't quite buy the friendship between Stella, Ana and Dixie, but if you sit back and ponder on it there is an element of truth in the more brutally honest element of their relationships. The characters are too singular and never quite manage to bridge the gap between page and reader or between themselves.
Although the majority of the scenes have a basis in reality the story lacks the spark of authenticity that takes readers from fiction to empathy and recognising a part of themselves in the read.
It's a bit explicit, now and again, when it comes to the sex scenes - just something to be aware of if you're not into a wee bit of horizontal tango, thrusting manhoods and moist girl caves awaiting said manhoods.
The title more or less spells it out for readers. The characters don't give a flying frog and neither does Webb, which of course is part of the charm of this read, and I expect this won't be the last time we hear from this author.
A decent enough, lighthearted read, but not an absolute page Turner - lacked the “oomph” to keep me reading.
A read this because I wanted a break from dark thrillers. This was the perfect remedy. Funny, compelling and I loved it. Thank you for letting me read this book :)
You know when you've had a book on your TBR pile for ages and then when you finally read it, you wish you red it ages ago, well I definitely 'regret' not reading No Regrets sooner.
This was the perfect, raunchy read that had been missing in my life.
Three friends, Ana, Stella and Dixie who have been friends forever all seem to be reaching pivotal moments in their life in terms of babies, relationships, work decisions and of course love. Stella is your typical bored housewife, but her story is not one that we'd come to expect in stories of bored stay at home mum's. Think she was my favourite character, I liked that she was prepared to take a walk on the wild side.
Loved the ease of which these characters gelled together and their long term friendship was very believable, both in how they had each other's backs, but also fought like only well established friends can.
If you need your autumn days warming up - No Regrets will do it for you!
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book. This is my honest opinion.
Could not get into this. Within 5%, there was a racist joke, which the heroine consciously makes, there's mention how chocolate looks like poo on her rival's skirt (and she actually praises her kid for this poo episode!), then there's another supposed heroine who is so condescending to the man she is with, it just makes you shake your head and wonder what a nice guy like him is doing with a b*tch like her.
Seriously unsympathetic let alone lovable characters - did not do it for me and I couldn't even finish the book
