Superb!! I literally couldn’t put this down and read into the early hours because I had to finish this book!
Told all the way through in the first person, you are the protagonist.
This book starts with the day you step off the boat to be met by police telling you your friend is missing, then the author very cleverly jumps back and forth over the timeline to give the back story of the previous year of events leading up to this point and then beyond.
I urge you to add this book to your wish list, you will not believe the twists and turns. When you think you know what’s happening BAM something else is thrown into the mix. This is a great read, moving at a good pace to keep you reading but also slowly enough to build the suspense and add depth to the storyline and characters. A very original story written fantastically by an author who I will definitely be seeking out in future. I rated this 5⭐️ and highly recommend it.

I really like Candlish’s writing style. It’s very clever, observant and slick, and this book is all that. Its told through the eyes of Jamie and flips between the present and a few months back before Kit goes missing. In classic Candlish style, the plot slowly builds and draws you in, with so many twist and turns that my head was spinning.🤪

You get a sense early on that a lot of the characters are shifty and all is not as it seems. I couldn’t figure Jamie out for ages which was smart writing as it created this sense of suspicion and set the tone. Is Jamie a honest narrator? What happened to Kit? Such convincing characterisation as I didn’t really like any of them, and a few were high in narcissistic entitlement which bugged me.😂 Money and sex made people do crazy things in this book and to be fair, I was gripped. I love thrillers that keep you guessing right to the very end and this did! Even with a massive plot twist half way through, the sinister surprises just kept coming!

THE OTHER PASSENGER is a book I would recommend to all you lovers of crime/thrillers. It will be a big hit this summer and cements Candlish as one of the heavyweights in this genre.🤩

I'm holding my hands up and admitting I really struggled with this one. I found the overall plot too far fetched, I couldn't get to grips with it half the time and completely lost my train of thought more times than I can remember.

It most probably didn't help that I didnt like or connect with any of the characters, usually there's at least one that you can root for at least but nope.. not one! I couldn't believe just how nasty Jamie was but it felt so so obvious from the beginning that he was being set up!

It's a real slow build and seemed to take ages to pick up any speed

One of my big negatives in this was the constant digs at young adults it actually got quite annoying in the end. Yes I understand they were written in to portray the characters opinions but it just felt repetitive.

I usually love Louise Candlish reads, this one just didnt do it for me.

This is such a completely absorbing story and one hell of a twisted one to boot. The book moves between past and present telling a slow burn of a complex story mainly about four friends Jamie and his partner Clare and Kit and Melia and their developing relationship with one another. It’s an excellently written story and at no point did I have a clue at just what was going to happen next which always makes for a refreshing read. The characters were all very believable and I have to say not always that likeable especially as the the story developed and I found my opinions of them changing. It’s almost impossible to describe the plot of the book without giving anything away but I loved it and was shocked to say the least.
So an excellent read and one I can recommend for all lovers of this genre.

I am relatively new to Louise’s work and was Introduced to her by Simon and Schusters - Books and The City, book club - I am so pleased that I was as her books are just fantastic.

This hypnotic book is full of unexpected twists and turns, in true Louise Candlish Style. It will keep you gripped and captivated by her imaginative in depth storytelling. I highly recommend that you read this exciting, rewarding book full of a fantastic array of secrets, friendship and lies. Just when you think you have guessed it, louise master of storytelling knocks you off your feet and keeps you guessing. Brilliant.

This book was incredibly well written, the characters were so well thought through and really worked,

This book focuses on middle aged Jamie, his successful and wealthy wife Clare And their new found younger, cooler and friends Kit and The beautiful Melia. Jamie and Kit soon realise that they have a similar commute and start to take the London river boat together to work each morning. Pretty soon this is the new norm and they make friends and with a couple of other people taking the same route.
One evening after the group of friends have Christmas drinks, Kit disappears and Jamie was the one last one to see him alive and sent him a provocative message. Things are not looking In Jamie’s favour!

I don’t won’t to give too much away about this book, but it really does have some great unexpected twists and turns and it keeps you guessing trough out, it was really hard to put down in some places. Unexpected relationships happen, the things you think would happen don’t, right to the very end it kept me gripped.

I wasn't entirely sure what to make of #TheOtherPassenger to begin with, as. the sun was shining in rural Gloucestershire and I felt like an escape from the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. The plot and suspense built and I was hooked. This turned into a really excellent read. I am certainly going to get everyone I know reading it. Louise Candlish is an excellent story teller and a master of surprises. I will never forget Our House and #ThatlastLine. I even think The Other Passenger is as good. It was similar in having characters that are flawed and not always likeable, a London setting, and a plot that really gets you thinking.
I will definitely recommend this and can't wait until my book club, other bloggers and my friends start reading it so we can talk about it.

I struggled with the overall plot I found it very far fetched and too unrealistic. I really liked the style of writing although I did lose the thread a few times. Also at first I disliked the ending but the final twist right at the end actually made me change my mind. Overall a very enjoyable read.

My first Louise Candlish book and I have to say I found it to be faultless. Back in the day I briefly used the River Boat service from Greenwich Pier to Canary Wharf and Ms Candlish has superbly picked up on the slightly superior attitude of its passengers (sadly the then service didn't last too long and it was back to the Blackwall Tunnel for me!) so I was quickly drawn into the world of the 4 main characters, none of whom I particularly liked it has to be said.

The twists and turns of the convoluted plot were beautifully resolved - the supporting characters were written with just enough detail to make you wonder whether they were involved, or not!

The denouement(s) was quite a surprise and perfectly satisfactory; justice was done ... or was it?

Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the book. Although it was slightly strange. It was different to anything I’ve read recently. The characters were all strange none you could feel you liked which made the book strange. But it’s still worth a read

This was my first Louise Candlsih book bit it certainly won't be my last.

Was going along at a nice pace story of Kit who has gone missing and his friend Jamie is being questioned about his last memories of seeing his friend.

Then when you least expect it the first twist hits and they just keep coming right to the very end.

I would highly recommend this book it had me hooked from the first few chapters.

See London in all its glory on the water and miss the crowded Tube stations and underground chaos. That gives Jamie Buckby the greatest sense of relief, being out in the air, and it is here that he meets a trio of new friends. One, Kit, makes a particular difference, as does his long-term partner Melia. Quickly, Jamie and his partner Clare make fast friends with Kit and Melia – but the book starts with Jamie being questioned by police over Kit’s disappearance. Covering the year in which the two couples meet, with particular emphasis on what happens between Christmas and New Year, the story is slowly, cleverly, skilfully untangled until you arrive at the truth. I’ve been a fan of Louise Candlish for several years and I love her ability to layer plot over plot, letting the reader try to figure out what is really going on. It will make you look at your friends differently.

Wow wow wow wow wow wow WOW. This is Louise’s best novel to date. The tension, the creepy setting (is it just me or is the ferry super creepy?!) and the plot twists were perfection. I raced through this book and bloody loved every second. Full of drama, high tension and love to hate characters, The Other Passenger is going to be a BIG book. Loved it!!

I thought that this was a good read and then we got closer to the end and I started yelling over it, literally (sorry neighbours) but it was everything I needed and wasn't expecting.

A punchy cocktail of wealth, secrets, lies and friendship, which keeps the reader guessing until the end while asking the question what exactly would we do for money and how It can destroy relationships,

Wow Louise Candlish has done it again. I absolutely devoured Our House and her new one is just as good.

The storyline is twisty with characters that you aren't entirely sure about and takes you in all manor of directions.

Two seemingly different couples become friends in London and we follow their friendship over a few months. Jamie and Claire are approaching their 50's and live in a lovely big house near the river. Kit and Melia (who works with Claire) are young, in debt and living a fast life whilst also envious of Paul and Claire and their affluent lives. Things aren't as they seem though and when Kit disappears over Christmas, things start to unravel for everyone involved.

Brilliant paced with an absolutely cracking plot, I really enjoyed this one!

Highly recommended.

I very much enjoyed this book.

Jamie and Claire are approaching their fifties when they befriend (or are befriended by?) a younger couple, Kit and Melia.

It’s hard to describe the plot without giving away any of the numerous and brilliantly revealed twists and turns so I won’t try!

I’ll just say that this is a very fast paced, well written and gripping book. Great characters, interesting setting and a blinder of a story all make this a fantastic read! I loved it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy of this book.

I am a fan of Louise Candlish and always greatly anticipate her new books. The Other Passenger didn’t disappoint. Well written, cleverly plotted, with interesting realistic characters and unusual atmospheric setting, it takes the reader on a twisty journey where nothing is as it seems.
