I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book and this extract did its job and drew me in from the beginning and made me want to read the whole book
An enticing and compelling short extract that does what the opening of any fantastic book ought to. It's sufficiently intriguing to make me want to read the whole novel and I have it ready. I don't think I'll be disappointed given the success of this extract and I look forward to reading the whole novel. I am really intrigued to see where this story goes and it's clear that there is a big mystery over the protagonist's dead mum. I'm thrilled I will be finding out what happens.
Requested as was intrigued by the synopsis but wasn't sure if this was going to be my kind of book - was very quickly drawn in, intrigued by the concept and am now very much looking forward to reading the whole book. Have a feeling its going be emotional!
A tricky one to get my head around, but time travel is a concept I haven’t explored much in my reading and I am a terrible decision maker so I enjoyed that aspect of the story!
I was initially intrigued by the premise of “Space Hopper” and after reading this sampler, I am even more eager to read this book in full. I enjoyed the way it was written in a very casual, conversation-like manner. I can’t wait to find out how Faye is visiting her dead mother, and how this impacts her present life with her family. Although this sampler of “Space Hopper” was short, I can tell that this is going to be a very emotional and interesting read.
Space Hopper is a delightfully quirky little novel that I read in a matter of hours. It was just so compelling and I wanted to know how it would pan out.
This book is all about the box the spacehopper is packaged in and the fact it allows now 30plus year old Fayeto time travel back to see her younger self, and meet her Mother. It’s a brilliant tale, and it kept me gripped with uncertainty regarding what would happen next. It’s well written and I really liked all the characters, particularly Louis,
Had to request this after I read the synopsis. I loved the sample and have since been approved to read the full book now. Really looking forward to it!
Thanks NetGalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
I really enjoyed the extract of this book. I was attracted to the book by the cover but, what I read was so much deeper and more involving than I expected. I would love to read the full book!
Space Hopper is Helen Fisher's debut novel and I really enjoyed this sampler. I am looking forward to reading this novel about time travel, childhood memories and grief and loss.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this digital ARC sampler
This is not something I usually read, but I wanted to try something new and I’m really glad I did! It’s well written and I liked all the characters. I loved the time travel concept and how the story focused on family, friendship and love relationships.
Overall I think this was an enjoyable, quick read.
Intriguing extract. I'd definitely like to read more.
The information that this is an uplifting book about ' mothers and daughters, time and faith, and deciding when, and how, to let go of the past.' made me want to read it and know more. The first chapter is well written and intriguing.
I am not quite sure why I only have an excerpt but will explore how I get to read and review the whole book.
Thank you
This was enough of a hook that I will try to read the full book when it is released next Feb.
The main issue seems to be the main character visiting her deceased mother, I look forward to seeing how this pans out.
Faye is married to Eddie and has two daughters. She knows that she is lucky, she has a good life. The only thing missing is her Mum. Faye’s Mum died when she was young and she still misses her badly. But what if she could talk to her again? And what questions would she ask?
I really liked this chapter of Space Hopper and I will definitely continue reading the book. Faye is potentially an interesting character and I look forward to reading more about her.
Thank you to Simon and Schuster UK and NetGalley for giving me access to Space Hopper.
The extract had me intrigued. My interest is piqued. What happened in the past and how is the narrator visiting her mum? Cracking opener !!
I've read the first seven pages and part of me is intrigued. I think I struggled a little bit with the writing because I am more of a literary fiction fan and this reads a bit like pop-fiction. It's accessible and has a friendly tone - I felt as though I was listening to a friend talk.
There were elements of the language that were compelling and I liked the description of the photograph, however, her big secret doesn't seem quite scandalous enough to keep a book going - she meets up for tea and biscuits with her dead mother, not some long lost lover or something, which might have been a bit more gritty.
I think if I was going to read this whole book, I'd need something to really grab me in the next ten pages. I am not completely turned off or on at this point.
I loved this extract of this book and was gripped from the 1st page, This book tells the story of Faye who is married to Eddie who's training to be in the clergy and they have two daughters , Faye has been telling a lie to her husband
I would recommend everyone read this extract of the book as its so good.
With thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster UK for the extract copy for exchange of this review
From the blurb:
Faye has two daughters and a loving husband. Her life seems perfect from the outside, but she's still unable to live her life to the fullest. There's a looming feeling of grief always holding her back. Faye constantly feels the loss of her mother, who passed away years ago. Even more so as she now watches her girls growing up. But then something inexplicable happens that allows her to communicate with her mother again and ask her questions she always wanted. Faye is going to work harder than ever to hold on to her mother and live in the present.
About the extract:
I'm definitely intrigued! I'm looking forward to reading this one when the ARC is available or when the book is published.
I was given the opportunity to read an extract of Space Hopper and from the synopsis of the novel I jumped at the chance.
It’s only a small extract - the publishers knew exactly what they were doing only allowing us to read a tiny bit as I’m intrigued ..... I need more!
The extract I read is as if the main character Faye is speaking directly to me as the reader. I know she has a husband named Eddie and 2 children. I know Faye’s mother passed away a long time ago and I know Faye has been speaking to her and that if she told her husband would either think she was lying or going mad.
I would like the rest now please Simon & Schuster!
Thanks to the publishers & netgalley for this advance extract read.
The extract was quite short but has left me wanting to read more. I'm intrigued by the story and want more . .. please
Wow .. just read this extract and certainly has left me wanting more.
Will definitely want to read when this is released
Thank you for my small copy
