Wow Wow Wow ! what a brilliant psychological thriller.Right from the beginning the story gripped me .The main characters Emily and Rupert do seem perfect for each other but secrets and lies run through this book like a river .Such a suspenseful read and the ending was totally twisty and unexpected .Can't wait to read Lisa Halls next book !.Many thanks to the Publisher the Author and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.

I read this ARC for an honest review

Loved the story and the characters and the ending was one I was not expecting!
Psychological thrillers are not my usual fare, but loved this
Highly recommended

Emily is starting over after leaving an abusive relationship, she is currently staying with Mags, her friend, who was there for her when nobody else was, but now she needs to get back on her feet. Rupert has been widowed for a year and is still coming to terms with the loss of his wife, Caro but his friends insist he needs to get his life back together so he advertises for a housekeeper, when Emily turns up for the interview he knows she's what he needs, over time they become close and he asks her to stay, permanently, and from this point on strange things begin to happen, Emily is convinced someone is out to get her and she's determined to find out who and why.
The chapters in this story alternate between Emily and Rupert, each of them very believable and authentic characters and on the surface they appeared to be the perfect couple, but the cracks started to appear very early on in their marriage and I didn't trust either of them.
I've been a big fan of Lisa Hall since her first book, Between You and Me blew me away. She draws you into her stories like a spider draws it's prey, she teases your mind with twists throughout and being the Queen of curve balls, she got me again with that final twist, brilliant!! The plot was well crafted, the chapters were short and the whole thing came together like a work of art. If you like suspense, you'll love this.
I'd like to thank HQ and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and on Amazon on publication day.

This was a fairly enjoyable novel, but it didn’t thrill me and make me desperate to turn each page. The story is fairly boring and predictable in suspense terms, but it is an interesting read in relationship terms. It’s an interesting look at a 2nd wife and the complications that come with following a deceased 1st wife. There’s an enjoyable twist at the end; but this is very much an easy beach read - it’s a bit too easy to put two and two together when reading this.

First of all, huge thanks to NetGalley, the publisher @hqstories and the author @lisahallauthor for an ARC of this book ahead of its publication on June 22nd. I was up at 5am this morning, hungrily reading what I couldn't finish last night. I read my first @lisahallauthor book back in February and knew that from the first chapter it would be a 5⭐️ read. I felt exactly the same about this book. "The Perfect Couple" is the perfect domestic thriller with lonely widower Rupert, desperate for help around his house and in search of a housekeeper. In comes Emily, escaping a violent relationship and tired of staying with the obsessive marijuana-smoking friend, Mags. Secrets, friendships (particularly false friendships) and the concept of moving on is at the heart of this book. I was kept guessing throughout and just when I thought I knew where the plot was going @lisahallauthor did exactly what she does so well - switch the whole direction and what I thought was certain was now no more. I recommend this if like me you want the perfect thriller to keep you guessing!

Another great read from Lisa Hall.
Rupert is lonely after his wife died and is letting things go around the house.
Emily is sharing with a friend and is becoming more annoyed with not working and being around her flat mate the whole time. She starts looking for a job and sees the housekeeper job advertised by Rupert and applies.
There’s chemistry between them straight away and soon Emily is more than his housekeeper.
The relationship moves fast and soon they are married but Rupert’s friends are a little suspicious of Emily so it takes a while for her to feel part of his life.
Things start being moved around the house and a photo of Rupert and his dead wife keeps appearing so Emily knows someone is coming into their home.
Things start to escalate but Rupert thinks Emily is imagining all these things so finds it hard to believe her.
This is a great book as it has you questioning both characters as you’re not really sure who is telling the truth. This along with another character who shows their true colours, makes for a gripping read.
A great psychological thriller that I can recommend.
Thanks to HQ and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Lisa Hall at her best. The dark story was a compelling read and although I thought that I had calculated everything I was wrong as the last words were a complete surprise. The characters and the lives that they led were so well described and it was easy to relate to all the events..
Highly recommend this book to readers of psychological thrillers as this is tops on the list.

Rupert's wife Caroline stormed out of their marriage a year ago and after her car was found with a note saying sorry it is presumed she had died.A year on and Emily enters his life after he advertises for a housekeeper and soon they become an item and then Rupert proposes and everything is looking rosy for the perfect couple or is it ? Emily cannot shed the feeling of being watched and also that she thinks someone has been in the house while she is out The story is full of twists and turns along the way and this really is an excellent psychological thriller from Lisa Hall as it kept me guessing as i turned the pages to the last chapter if you enjoy this genre you won't be disappointed in this book i highly recommend it,an excellent 5 star read.

Thanks to netgalley and author Lisa Hall. I really liked the book, full of twists and lots of tension. The ending was surprising and very well written.

Ohh I enjoyed this! Loved the double whammy twist at the end, did find myself getting slightly confused at the very beginning as you had a few characters all chucked at you at once, so remembering who was who and who was married to who was slightly confusing, but otherwise this was a good book!

This was a good read with lots of twists and turns keeping you guessing all the way through. The ending had a great twist and wasn’t expected at all! The only criticism I had of this book was that I don’t believe that the main character of the book Emily would have acted in the way she did after getting threatening text messages and letters which made the storyline a little unbelievable for me . Other than that an enjoyable read

I have read several of Lisa Hall’s books so was very excited to start this.
When Rupert applies for a housekeeper after losing his wife Caro, along comes Emily who is getting over an abusive relationship and is desperate for a new start. They are instantly attracted to one another and are soon married.
Well that’s the fairytale bit out the way!! They come back from their honeymoon all loved up, but
Emily starts to receive threatening texts and notes, she hear strange noises in the house. It’s hard being the second wife when Rupert’s friends keep reminiscing about the past and his first wife Caro. What did happen to his wife?
The chapters alternate between Rupert and Emily each giving their perspectives.
I loved the twists along the way and the OMG twist at the end.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

Oooooh I did love this book. A great story to keep you guessing. I wanted to find out the truth but didn't want it to end. Lots of twists and I didn't guess how it would end. Highly recommended

The Perfect Couple is one of those books that will have you guessing right until the very end and I love it! Everytime you think you've figured it out the carpet is pulled right out from under your feet.
Emily has just come out of an abusive relationship and in order to get her life back on track applies for a job as a housekeeper for widower, Rupert. Rupert's wife Caro is missing and considered dead and after a year of nothingness he feels that is finally time to get his life back on track and Emily is the person to help him.
Emily comes across as fragile and slightly on edge and we are ultimately drawn to her but as the story goes on her voice becomes more and more needy. Rupert starts as the perfect husband but as time goes on he becomes secretive, angry and agitated by Emily's paranoia. Throw into the mix Caro's best friend Sadie and we have quite the little triangle and a whole lot of mind games - but who is truly responsible? Could Caro be torturing them from beyond the grave?
As I previously mentioned this book is full of twists and turns and the ending really threw me! I can't wait to read more from Lisa Hall.

An absolutely superb read which I have not been able to put down. I thought the pacing of the book was really good, I was never bored and I always wanted to keep reading to find out what was going on. I thought I had the plot worked out but I was completely wrong. I loved the ending.

Lisa Hall does it again
I have loved all her previous books and this one now joins them
Emily and Rupert both find themselves alone, struggling and not where they want to be in life
Rupert alone in luxury
Emily not quite in poverty but not where she envisaged
Rupert advertises for a housekeeper
Emily applies
The die is cast
And we then have a dark and drama filled tale of secrets, surprises, lies, goody’s and baddy’s and a story to keep you fixated
There are many ‘A-HA’ moments and I LOVED the fact when one ‘secret’ was hinted at I was like ‘ohhhh really, well that was obvious bla bla’ only to have my indignation swiped away about 5 mins later as I was proven wrong 😁
The characters are super, 2 female friends of Rupert’s who are the bitchiest, fiendishish women you could hope for in a book and an unusual bezzie of Emily that conjured up all kinda of images
The ending is a classic and the whole book a readers ( well this readers ) dream of a fine exciting read
10/10

The Perfect Couple by Lisa Hall is a compulsive contemporary psychological suspense that I just could not put down.
Lisa Hall has constructed a very clever plotline. She drew me in, manipulated my emotions and reeled me in to a certain way of thinking before spinning me around towards the conclusion. It was a fabulous roller coaster read – exciting, thrilling and jaw dropping.
The characters are well drawn, eliciting various emotional responses from me. I saw what Lisa Hall wanted to show me – but just like an iceberg, two thirds were hidden below the waterline.
Life is made up of the haves and have-nots. Within the story there is suspicion cast on those without money and who marry into it.
There are truth and lies, deals and dodgy dealings. Is anyone just who they appear to be? See if you can separate the truth from the lies.
The Perfect Couple was a fabulous suspense that consumed my waking moments and had my senses on high alert. I loved and lived it.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Emily has a new job as a housekeeper for widowed Eupert. Emily had een in an abusive relationship. Rupert is still coming to terms with the death of his wife, Caro. It's not long before Rupert and Emily fall for each other and they marry. But it's not all hearts and flowers. Nasty things soon start to happen around Emily. Nasty hand delivered notes start arriving for Emily, threatening text messages and strange noises can be heard around the house. Emily starts to wonder what happened to Rupert's first wife.
The chapters alternate between Rupert and Emily giving us their perspectives. It's quite clear where the plot is going and there were a fee elements that were unbelievable. There's a few twists. *Trigger Warning * there's a kitten killed in the story. I know this can upset some readers. There's a lot going on in the book. The pace is steady. An enjoyable domestic thriller.
I would like to thank NetGalley, HQ and the author Lisa Hall for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Very well written domestic thriller that slowly reveals its secrets. Shades of 'Rebecca' in this tale of a second wife who doesn't feel she measures up to the deceased first wife, foreshadowed by the reference to 'Mrs Danvers'. Decidedly unpleasant but very readable characters. I'd guessed two of the twists, but definitely not the third. Really good read.

I was lucky enough to get sent an advanced copy of Lisa Hall’s new psychological thriller ‘The Perfect Couple’, before its publication date for an honest review. Thank-you Netgalley and HarperCollins !!!!!
I went into this book not knowing very much about Lisa Hall or having read any of her previous books, something I’ll happily change, because I TORE THROUGH ‘The Perfect Couple’ in a grand total of 24 hours, it was an ALL CONSUMING DISTRACTION from ongoing existential dread with a GREAT ENDING. The whole reading experience felt very Gone Girl-esque with a bit of something something thrown in (I’m still trying to figure out what exactly that ‘something something’ was, but I was really into it). The plot was easy to follow, and although it did turn out quite predictable, I found it SO enjoyable.
It’s an easy domestic popcorn thriller that’s extremely well written, and has the right amount of little twists and misdirections that’ll have you quickly invested and engrossed - you’ll find yourself internally bargaining that you’ll do the dishes after ‘One More Chapter’ quite frequently…. The dishes don’t get done, they’re still in a pile right now, you hate yourself. The PERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRFECT read for a lockdown duvet day.
The UK release date for ‘The Perfect Couple’ is June 22nd (18 days from now), get it pre-ordered ASAP!!
