I have read many Kendra Elliot books. The Silence is a book in the Callahan & McLane series. I enjoy reading about these characters and what happens in their lives. The author does a good job in creating realistic characters, atmosphere, and storylines.

The storyline in The Silence is quite realistic, and the characters talk and act like real humans and don't take unnecessary risks. The action is tense and exciting. The relationship between Ava and her twin Jayne is frustrating but does show the bond Ava has even though Jayne has done some terrible things.

The book's resolution felt a little rushed and ended quickly, but the ending was satisfactory with the right amount of tension and action.

I hope to read more of this series.

This is my first read by this author. So, reading this I didn't know that this is a part of a series and already existing characters appeared in books before so this is somewhat of a happy end for them. I did have a feeling of missing more of back story that connects the reader more with characters.
The story itself is engaging. The storyline is interesting enough. I do feel that the ending felt rushed. I think I expected more menacing twists and turns, more of thriller story, but this is more of romance suspense book.
I would like to read more books by this author in the future.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of the book!

I’ve read a lot of Kendra Elliot books but had not actually read a Callahan/McLane book yet. This one was not my favorite in terms of the actual plot, but I feel like if you know the characters it probably gave a lot of closure. It was well written and I enjoyed it, it just wasn’t a strong book for me. One of the main characters, Ava, actually got on my nerves a little and I feel like I’m probably missing a lot of backstory that may have made me find her more like able.

Murder, mystery, intrigue, and a bit or romance The Silence( the second book in the Columbia River series) has it all. This is the first time I have read a Kendra Elliot book, but it will not be the last.
Thank you, Netgalley, Montake, and Kendra Elliot for the ARC.

Kendra Elliot knows how to grab her reader by the throat and hold them spellbound til the thrilling end. The Silence has everything I look for in a great detective thriller. Fabulous characters, intricate storyline -or in this case, storylines- which run at a breathless pace keeping one entranced and in thrall to the last sentence . Highly recommend!

The Silence by Kendra Elliot

FBI Special Agent Ava McLane and Detective Mason Callahan with the Oregon State Police are engaged to get married.
Detective Callahan is called to a bloody scene where the victim has been bludgeoned to death. While the crime scene techs are processing the house they find documents indicating an attack at the Clackamas County Courthouse. The attack would be a bombing that very afternoon. Adding to this there is information indicating he had been an FBI informant and his contact was Ava McLane.
The story picks up from there as all race to courthouse along with virtually every other law enforcement person.
As the story deepens with the incident at the courthouse, Ava is visited by Brady, her troubled twin sister’s boyfriend. Brady tells Ava that her sister has disappeared from where they had been in Costa Rica. Sister Jayne was constantly in trouble, in rehab, and totally self-centered. Despite years of disappointment, Ava has a primal need to find and help her.
A slightly more than cameo appearance of Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick of the Bend FBI agent (and main character in the Mercy Kilpatrick series of books by the author) reminds us we need more in the Mercy Kilpatrick series as well as another McLane and Callahan book.
As always, Kendra Elliot produces an easy to read page turner.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this Advance Reader Copy.

Book #2 in the series from a favourite Author of mine. I love Kendra Elliot's writing. She is so talented. I was on the edge of my seat a number of times while reading this book. I love the characters, new and old. Ava and Mason are SO good together. I could read her books back to back and would never want to stop. This book starts with a murder and graduates to a mass shooting. The ending is brilliant. Thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the Author for allowing me to read and review this amazing book.

So I DNFed the first book in this series and just skimmed about 40% until the end, but I was excited to get this book anyway to have some questions answered about Ava, Mason, and Jayne’s stories. That said, this book still didn’t quite take for me. There was *A LOT* going on, and while eventually it does all tie together, I just didn’t feel super invested in the story. I did want to know the ending though, so I read the whole story this time. I’m glad for the character’s happy ending, but I’m also not certain I would rush to grab any future books in the series.

Fast paced thriller with some familiar characters. The author weaves a great story and what starts as a simple murder suddenly the much more.

Another excellent Kendra Elliot story! Mason and Ava’s cases collide and it makes for an incredibly complicated and intriguing mystery. The Silence nicely ties up a few of the ongoing storylines in the Mason and Ava series. If this is there final story it was a fitting end. But I hope to hear from them again in another book!!

Maybe I am just feeling uninspired lately? I read to about 30% and just wasn’t hooked. I didn’t read the first book in the series so I don’t have Mason and Ava’s history. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

I haven't read any of the author's other books, but it didn't detract from the story. A good mystery with personal ties for the characters.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love to read Kendra Elliot books, she always puts out a solid mystery with a little romance thrown in. I especially enjoy her books because a lot of them are set in the Pacific Northwest, this book is set just an hour away from my home. I was glad to see Mercy Kilpatrick show up in this book, her series is my favorite Kendra Elliot series so far. This book was a real page turner, there was a lot of killing, which was a bit much for me. But, it is still a fun read with a happy ending.

What did I like about this story? Everything. What didn’t I like? I finished reading it. The Silence is a well told story, where it has many twists, turns and is extremely well written. Ava and Mason are back. Mason is investigating a murder where a man is gruesome murdered. Ava knows the victim and her name is connected to him. While Mason is investigating the murder, a horrible crime is committed where many police officers are killed and somehow these cases slowly and intricately connected. From there the story just explodes with mystery intrigue and definitely keeps you on your seat as you try to read as fast as you can! Another masterpiece written by Kendra Elliot, as her stories always seem to get better with the next.

There is something about Kendra Elliot's writing style that I really enjoy - this book was no different! She has interesting plots that get my attention right from the start, her main characters are enjoyable, and previous main characters from prior books sometimes make an appearance (hello Mercy Kilpatrick!) I was delightfully surprised that this book focused on Mason and Ava as the first book in this series focused on Zander (Ava's partner) and Emily. I'm really glad that Ms. Elliot decided to circle back to Mason and Ava as they had some unfinished business (their wedding, Ava's twin sister, Ava's newly discovered family). I loved how this book had multiple things going on (murder victim, mass shooting targeting cops, and more but I don't want to give anything away!), but it was all organized and easy to follow. Her books keep me engaged throughout and I'm always sad when they end.

Thank you to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for providing a copy for review.

Returning to Ava and Mason and all their friends.
Thrilling, suspenseful, murder mystery.
Murder, terroristic threating, on the edge of your seat.
Can't wait to see what's next

A great wrap-up for Ava and Mason. Great characters and fabulous mysteries are what I love about Elliot's books and this newest installment was no exception. Reads well on it's own, but also great for those who have followed Ava and Mason's story. So glad I had the day off to do nothing but read this one!!

This is the second book in the Columbia River Series and I have to say its better than the first. I have been a fan of Kendra Elliot's forever!!!

This book brings back some of my favorite characters from previous books and I love that!!! I've missed these guys and its so cool when they crossover. Its truly like one huge family.

There's murder, obsession, backstabbing, mass shootings, mayhem, goose chases, some really good twists/turns, a few noooo moments, and a really great ending.

I truly hope there are more books in this series or a new series that keeps bringing back all my friends.
