This was a very beautiful story, very well written, it's one of those I see myself re-reading a lot.
the beauty of the writing style made me want quote half of the book which is rare for me when it comes to contemporaries.

My first book by this author, really enjoyed it. It's a tale of Minnie & Quinn, both born on the same day & how their lives weave in & out. Definitely recommend

Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

Minnie and Quinn meet on New Year's Day, which is also their 30th birthday! They were born on the same day, in the same hospital, just minutes apart. Their mother's met in the hospital during labor and they helped each other through each other's labors. However, now the families have had no contact since the kids were born. 30 years later, both Minnie and Quinn think they are living very different lives, but they discover, maybe they're not so different after all.

I started this book and then felt that it was moving a little too slowly for me, so I set it aside and picked it back up as I wanted to know how the story ended. I enjoyed the plot, but just wish it had moved along a little quicker. I felt that some of the details about the houses or people were repetitive and slowed down the story, or didn't keep me interested. However, I really enjoyed the banter between the two main characters.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't feel a lot of emotional attachment to Minnie, the female lead in this story. As I was reading, there were times when I was just so tired of reading about how awful her life was. I understand that might have been the point to the story but I also believe that everyone has SOMETHING good going on in their lives, but as this story moved on I was just getting so tired of hearing about the negativity. That being said, the story did pick up, and while I wasn't a huge fan of it, I also didn't NOT like it, if that makes sense. I was invested enough to read to the end to find out how everything ended.

This Time Next Year is about how Minnie and Quinn were born minutes apart and how they’ve shaped each other’s lives without knowing it. More than a love story, it shows how both Minnie and Quinn and their families grow and face their own battles

I had enjoyed reading this book for several reasons. The premise of them being born minutes apart and constantly meeting throughout their life is a trope I’ve watched or read before but it’s still interesting enough to keep me reading. Also, Minnie, whose point-of-view dominates the story, is a lovable character. Since I deal with some worries myself, I found her character relatable. It was also remarkable how the author was able to include the worries and problems of your typical millennial such as job loss, climate change, and the rising house prices and was able to tell it like how it really is. Brexit was also briefly mentioned. Minnie’s job was also inspiring since it shows that sustainable business models are doable. I also enjoyed the fact that Minnie’s life-changing decisions happened at the middle of the book instead of the usual sequence of life-changes, guy-gets-the-girl, the end. It’s refreshing to read and it emphasized what I think is the author’s point that you should be okay with yourself before being in a relationship.

Maybe the book did not want to be too much of a downer but I think the story of both their moms should have been expounded. It would have helped me to understand more how both of them turned out the way they are. How Connie had a generally negative vibe was not told and the difficulties in life experienced by Tara were only mentioned in passing even though one can see how difficult they are and how badly it affected her and her son. Also, how Quinn had changed his life might have warranted more story lines since he had some deep-seated issues he really needed to work on.

Overall, this novel has been a humorous, engaging, and heart-felt read. The main leads were funny and the side characters were all interesting. This book would be a perfect read if you want to relax on a beach, or with a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day. Although it had mentioned some millennial problems, this is a perfect book to distract you from all the horribleness of the current pandemic and the social tensions around the world.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

Quinn and Minnie are born on New Year’s Eve, in the same hospital, one minute apart. I thought this book was really cute! I loved the original idea, and I think a lot of people will love the ending!

Oh my gosh. I ADORED this book. I mean, I had a strong feeling that I would when I saw the simplicity of the cover and read the first paragraph of the blurb and even the two little lines on the cover but I love when my feelings stay the same the whole way through the book. Basically I love it when I am right about a "feeling" LOL!

The best part about the entire book is the characters themselves. ALL OF THEM! Not just Minnie and Quinn but every single character we come in contact with leaves some kind of mark. They were quirky, selfish, argumentative, eccentric, and they were never boring. They were distinguished and they were all around great parts to the already great story-line. Their dialogue never lagged or dragged and it was the perfect mixture of seriousness and humor.

I wasn't crazy about the back and forth of the different New Years that these two people experienced but I could appreciate where the author was going with it. Seeing these two finally meet and experience life together (even in a non-romantic way) really was worth all of the back and forth.

You might think this is a romance novel-- it's not. It's so much more. This Time Next Year is about building friendships, family dynamics and most importantly loving yourself. And let me just tell you-- I love when the romance novels that I read contain so much more than JUST the romance.

Can I give this book 500 stars? I absolutely loved everything about it. The characters made me love them and hate them at the same time. Why must people in love be so stupid sometimes? I had to read this book without putting it down because I needed to know that there was a happy ending and I literally had to wait until the very last page to find out if I was going to have to cry myself to sleep over these fictional characters or not. I was so invested in every aspect of Minnie’s life that I did not want this book to end. Not to mention I wanted more steamy scenes between Quinn and Minnie. I absolutely adored how there were these subtle moments in each characters life that came back around in the end. I kept waiting for these characters to realize they were star crossed lovers from the start. I was rooting for them! I haven’t been this excited about a novel in such a long time.

I am a sucker for a New Year's Eve story and this did not disappoint.

Minnie Cooper and Quinn Hamilton were destined to meet after they were born just minutes apart at the same hospital in the first few minutes of New Year's Day. Minnie's life takes a few turns and by the time she meets Quinn again she's a hardworking realist with no time for Quinn's smug demeanor. Quinn hasn't had the easiest life but puts up a front to come off as a non-committal bro. Jumping back and forth between present day and various New Year's Eves of the past, This Time Next Year brings you missed connections and meet cutes that will have you rooting for these two to just end up together already.

Just like watching a rom-com, I loved how the author weaved in those missed connections of earlier times. Minnie's attitude got a little annoying at times but you were still rooting for her. Loved her quirky best friend and pie shop employees. Also the references to Great British Baking Show had me loling. Anything that mentioned a Paul Hollywood handshake is fun in my book!

Absolutely adorable! Perfect for fans of One Day in December or In Five Years. This was a nice escape from current events; it's easy to get lost in the the lifelong saga of Quinn and Minnie. Born a minute apart, Quinn beats Minnie in a contest to be the "First Baby Born in the 90s" and inadvertently steals Minnie's intended name (poor girl is stuck with the horrible moniker Minnie Cooper!). Quinn's life seems bathed in good fortune, Minnie has had more than her share bad luck. They meet on their 30th birthdays and spend the year coming in and out of each other's life.

It's not fluff though, I found myself pondering fate, life, timing, and luck. This is a modern day fairy tale and I look forward to reading more by Sophie Cousins.

Thank you to Net Galley for the advance copy!

What a great book. I got caught up in this story really quickly and pretty much devoured it in two days. Loved Minnie and Quinn, both characters were wonderfully complex, funny and touching throughout and they had excellent chemistry. Their story from start to finish was engaging. I loved how the author wove in the development of their present day story with their past, showing that they were always connected by the invisible thread of fate. Love twins!! Both Quinn and Minnie had to deal with some fairly difficult emotional hurdles during the story before the could be really comfortable in their own skins. I thought the author handled their respective issues very well. I laughed, I cried and I loved them both individually and together.

The supporting characters were a joy and really added to the story. Bev, Fleur and Alan were all excellent. Also big fan of Clive in his brief appearance (break-up guru!!) Laurie and Minnie’s friendship was everything you want a female friendship to be. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of SC’s work.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. I adore a good love story and this book had romance by the bucketful. I wanted to be friends with Minnie, I fell in love with Quinn and I honestly could not put the book down. Hooked from the get go and would recommend to anyone. Fab!

I adored This Time Next Year. I read the whole book with a huge smile on my face. Minnie and Quinn were born 1 minute apart on New Year's Day 1990. They meet on their 30th birthday, but flashbacks to previous New Years show that their lives have actually been entangled for years. This was the perfect mix of romance, friendship, family, wit, vulnerability, and missed chances. I loved how close Minnie and her BFF Leila are (the proposalΒ scene was a hoot!), Minnie's relationship with her parents (I want to fix a clock for my dad!) and I especially loved the love twins, Minnie and Quinn. Great read!

This Time Next Year is about two people born minutes apart and meet on their 30th Birthday. As the story continues, we learn that they have run into each other several times throughout their lives without know it. They start out as enemies, but that eventually changes. I enjoyed this book. It was entertaining that this book was set in 2020, yet Coronavirus related shut-downs were not a part of the story. I would recommend to friends.

This Time Next Year is a fun novel about two individuals born on New Year's Eve. One was born into a family who won the New Year's Eve prize and the other felt the New Year cursed her every single year. But when Quinn and Minnie coincidentally meet, Minne's luck may change while Quinn may be able to share his burden and open his heart to love.

Thank you, NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

Like the curate’s egg good in part. Nice descriptive prose and well drawn out characters but frankly I found the plot a little trite.

Quinn and Minnie were born a minute apart in the same London hospital. This is the story of what happens when they meet up as adults and the rest of the story is obvious and predictable

This book follows Quinn and Minnie, who meet on New Year's Day in London, which also happens to be both their birthdays. It turns out while he's always been lucky, she's been unlucky which her family attributes to having her lucky name choice (Quinn) stolen by a baby boy born on the same day. The story is told through flashbacks on different New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and somehow they always ended up at the same place at the same time; as well as a present-day timeline that chronicles how things go since they officially met in 2019. It's such an engaging and fun story, I just want to know what'll happen next. It's an easy romance read to get wrapped up in, and I couldn't put it down and ended up devouring it in one sitting. It even reads quickly for 400+ pages. In the book, it's all about how fate kept entangling their lives from the beginning, so love seems inevitable. Ok, it's pretty darn cute from beginning to end. It's just fun, sweet, and cute. Then, the ending is giving me all sorts of sweeping *zings* and feels that I could actually feel fluttering in my belly, awww.
