Thanks for the copy, really pleased to get a chance to read before publishing later in the year.
I really enjoyed this, love, romance and friendship and much more. I like the idea of looking at a point in time and I found both of the characters really relatable. Found a bit slow read in parts, but think it'll be a great cosy winter read when published!

This book was a struggle to get through to be honest. Halfway through, I could tell the ultimate ending. There was a lot of dialogue and back and forth between the characters. The characters were very easy to like and follow along with.

Minnie and Quinn are tied together in a very close way - their mothers met while in labor. In fact, Minnie's mother was going to name her Quinn, but Quinn's mother (obviously) beat her to it; because of this Quinn has been labeled as a rival throughout Minnie's life - despite them never having actually met in person. Finally, on their 30th birthday (January 1, 2020), Minnie and Quinn meet. The story then moves simultaneously forward and backward in time. We see their friendship grow moving forward in time while also seeing some close encounters between the two of them in the past.
This was a funny, romantic, quick read, and a breath of fresh air! I very much enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Sophie Cousens in the future!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review!

I love women's fiction by British authors. They are usually fast paced, witty, and heart warming books. I was excited to be able to read "This Time Next Year" by Sophie Cousens and it did not disappoint!
The main character, Minnie Cooper, has been seemingly jinxed from birth. Her original first name was stolen by another mother in the delivery ward-and Quinn Hamilton seems to have stolen any good luck Minnie was supposed to have. A by chance meeting on their 30th birthday-January 1st, 2020-leads to many more interesting meetings. This however, is not the first time Minnie and Quinn have met, and those accounts are related in several flashbacks. I felt like this greatly contributed to the unfolding of the story.
Minnie and Quinn are likeable and flawed characters. We see so much personal growth from them and others in the supporting cast. The difference in a 4 star review and a 5 star review to me is whether or not I was in a hurry to find out what happened next. I looked forward to picking up "This Time Next Year" again each time after I put it down. I eagerly look forward to more of Ms. Cousens's work.
I did receive an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my review.

This Time Next Year was a fun read. It is a sweet telling of how things are not always as they seem. Minnie stumbles through life living with the weight of being “bad luck” from the moment she was born. Quinn comes from a privileged life, so people automatically assume he had an easy life. I really enjoyed the dynamic of the characters and their families. It wasn’t just a meet cute and happily ever after. It showed how family dynamic and upbringing shaped both Minnie and Quinn. Also, the characters were quirky and fun and I loved it.

I was excited to read this book. It started off well. It got very slow in the middle and the last few chapters were great. I think I grew tired of some of the characters--they did not hold my interest throughout the whole book. I wished the book was more about Minnie and Quinn and that the author explored their relationship more. I do understand why she didn't, as Quinn was a complex guy! Just their own circumstances were riveting and I think I would have liked if the book was more about them and their relationship. I did love how a few of the characters related to Minnie evolved, however. Overall, it was an okay read.
This was a free ARC of the book received through the publisher and NetGalley.com, however, the opinion is all my own.

This was a lovely read, with hints of sliding door moments interspersed throughout the novel. The characters are richly described and there are some truly laugh out loud moments - the coconut shower gel being one.
I was rooting from the main character - Minnie right from the start and became absorbed in her journey. This is one of those novels, that you read late into the night, promising yourself 'just one more chapter'.
Great writing from Sophie Cousens, I look forward to reading more of her work.

Loved the premise of this fated romance, two babies born minutes apart on the same day. It felt really fresh and the unfolding connection between them seems meant to be, even though they couldn't have led different lives. The way the characters grow in present day, and the relationships of those around them draws the reader into the story of people who seem destined to be together. I was sorry to reach the end of their story and have re-read many of my favorite parts. Will definitely recommend to friends.

Oh my gosh. I ADORED this book. I mean, I had a strong feeling that I would when I saw the simplicity of the cover and read the first paragraph of the blurb and even the two little lines on the cover but I love when my feelings stay the same the whole way through the book. Basically I love it when I am right about a "feeling" LOL!
The best part about the entire book is the characters themselves. ALL OF THEM! Not just Minnie and Quinn but every single character we come in contact with leaves some kind of mark. They were quirky, selfish, argumentative, eccentric, and they were never boring. They were distinguished and they were all around great parts to the already great story-line. Their dialogue never lagged or dragged and it was the perfect mixture of seriousness and humor.
I wasn't crazy about the back and forth of the different New Years that these two people experienced but I could appreciate where the author was going with it. Seeing these two finally meet and experience life together (even in a non-romantic way) really was worth all of the back and forth.
You might think this is a romance novel-- it's not. It's so much more. This Time Next Year is about building friendships, family dynamics and most importantly loving yourself. And let me just tell you-- I love when the romance novels that I read contain so much more than JUST the romance. I like them to be deeper than the middle of the ocean.

A refreshing well written romance that made me chuckle, and that's saying something. The main characters went through their own journey without having to be rescued by each other. There was wit and deep thinking, and a plot that was well thought out and executed. Daily conversations and circumstances that were character oriented and written flawlessly. A nod to the usual romance trops were stated and dealt with in a real life and witty manner. Secondary characters had their own personalities and didnt neadlesly fade into the background. Would highly recommend !!

Okay so I may have binged this book in an entire day/night (don't judge me) but I really couldn't put it down AT ALL. At first I struggled to get into it (first couple of pages) but I never give up on a good book so I picked it back up and carried on and I'm so glad I did.
Minnie Cooper has radiated bad luck for the majority of her life, starting from the moment she was born a minute too late to win £50,000 with the person who beat her, Quinn, even stealing her name. This story takes us through the lives of Minnie, and of Quinn, and shows all the times they just missed out on each other until they eventually find each other properly.
A story that I expected to be similar to One Day in December but really shone on its own two feet written very well.

"Life is change - if nothing is changing then you're not living" .
This Time Next Year is a feel good romantic comedy. Two babies born within one minute apart on New Years Eve meet by accident at a party on NYE. They get to talking and instantly click as friends.
Quinn and Minnie start to hang out from time to time. Minnie starts developing a crush on him but Quinn is a "man slut". Is it that he's not ready to settle down or he isn't interested in Minnie?
Minnie has her own demons. She needs to learn to love herself. Once she realizes this, she begins to grow.
I really loved this book. The only reason I am giving it four stars is because Minnie drove me crazy with her believing she was born unlucky. Not everyone's life is perfect. Eventually, she realizes this. If my opinion was based on Minnie's friend, Leila, it would be five stars for sure. I loved her character. I think every girl needs a Leila in her life.
Thank you Netgalley for giving menthe chance to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a heartwarming story!
After being born on the same day and having multiple near misses throughout the years Quinn and Minnie finally connect.
This is a lovely rom com you will not want to put down!
Thank you Netgalley for my copy!

Well, I didn't hate this book but I didn't love it either.
As we know from the blurb, Minnie and Quinn were born at the same hospital, on New Years Day just minutes apart. Unfortunately, Minnie has grown up knowing that she is unbelievably unlucky and that this is all down to Quinn Hamilton. The baby that was born just before her.
However, they bump into each other on their 30th birthdays and from then on fate seems to keep throwing them together.
I liked Minnie, Quinn and Leila. I couldn't stand Minnie's mother or how she appeared to have a total personality change about 3/4 into the book. No idea what that was all about.
And I couldn't see how or why Minnie was friends out of work with any of the people working for her.
The story was predictable and the ending was all a bit too rushed and tidy for my liking.

Minnie Cooper (yes, like the car) knows two things with great certainty: her New Year's birthday has always been unlucky, and that it's all because of Quinn Hamilton. Has she ever met him? No. Will she blame him for everything that goes wrong in her life? Yes. Minnie and Quinn were born at the same hospital just minutes apart on New Year's Day thirty years ago. When they unexpectedly run into each other on their thirtieth birthday, things start to change. Even though they're from completely different worlds, their similar stories bring them closer. Will this year be the luckiest yet?
This book completely surprised me. I thought it would be a typical cheesy romance, but I didn't expect to fall in love with the characters as much as I did. Minnie is incredibly loveable and truly comes alive in each chapter. With a relatable relationship with her parents, it's hard not to adore her and cheer her on after each unfortunate incident. Quinn's fear of commitment I found initially off-putting, but as his story progresses and we begin to understand his life isn't as easy as it seems, the pieces start fitting together to show us how perfect he and Minnie are for each other.
Not only are Minnie and Quinn a charming couple, the main theme I took from this book was strong friendships. Minnie's friends are an odd group you typically wouldn't put together, but Cousens did a fantastic job of bringing the best qualities out in each of them while still being truthful to their different personalities. There wasn't one character that I didn't like, and that includes Minnie's ex-boyfriend.
The flashbacks that take place throughout the book are almost frustrating simply because they show us exactly how many times Minnie and Quinn have crossed paths. And unless I'm mistaken, they once shared a New Years kiss back in their teens, bringing their relationship to a full circle; I found it incredibly sweet.
Full of wit, charm and an engrossing plot, This Time Next Year isn't one to miss.

Absolutely gorgeous story! Very original and so heart warming. Although I felt the second half of the year was slightly rushed, I couldn't put it down. Such a romantic ending too.

As I finish reading this book, I can’t help but smile from ear to ear. Such a great, light, romantic little novel. I loved Minnie and the way her parents developed over the story. They really grew to support her dreams and change her outlook on life. I loved Quinn, though I hate when the leading man is super rich. It’s so unrealistic. Or at least it is to me, I never found the gorgeous millionaire to sweep me off my feet. Anyway, this was a fun chick lit story about Minnie and Quinn and how their births led them to each other over and over through the years.

Really enjoyed this book - a tale of two babies born on the same day whose lives involve a number of near misses till fate finally allows them to meet and explore each other’s story......feel good and heartwarming.

I loved this story. The star crosses and near misses and lives intertwined before ultimately impacting on each other. Quinn and Minnie who were born within a minute of each other and that moment impacting on them and their mothers. Beautifully written and really enjoyable.
